There was a new event on Showtime the other day.   EliteXC fighting.   There were some decent fights.   They had the first ever female MMA fight on TV apparently.  I wasnt sure what to expect with that one, but it ended up being a great fight.    Also got to see a behemoth Brazilian fighter named Antonio Silva who I had never heard of.  6'3 296 and very quick.  This guy could be something special in the heavyweight division in the future.  Dude had the biggest head I have ever seen and he knocked down Wessley Cabbage who never gets knocked down.   The main event was Frank Shamrock vs Renzo Gracie.  That one had the potential to be a great match, but Shamrock ended up getting DQ'd for illegal knees to the back of Renzo's head.   Renzo was pretty farged up from that apparently.   Shamrock acted like a total douche afterwards.

I checked and if you have Showtime and Comcast in Demand you can go watch it on there.

David Loiseau took an L on that thing, huh?  That's surprising.  I just watched his fight against Evan Tanner on Fight Night the other evening.  They had to stop the fight cuz Loiseau opened up literally 4 different cuts on Tanner's face with some VICIOUS elbows.

I'll have to see if I can catch a re-air on Showtime.

yeah Loiseau looked pretty bad.  The announcers were giving him the business for it too.   He looked like he didnt really want to fight that much.  Then again, that Villasenor guy he fought seemed pretty good.  I hadnt seen him before, but they said he won 16 of his last 18 fights.

Dan Henderson drops a bomb on Wanderlei Silva last night in PRIDE 33

Henderson moved up in weight and still knocked Silva the farg out.

That combination was a thing of beauty, dude, especially the right cross that started it.  You could see Silva just blink out after he got hit.

MURP

I wonder how that will affect the future possible fight of Silva/Liddell.   The commercial for PRIDE 33 said Henderson was the only American who had the courage to fight Silva.  An obvious shot at Liddell.

Rome

I'm sure the Iceman is terrified of Silva.

:-D

Just more hype to sell tickets & PPV's.

Whatever happened to that fight? They announced it like it was going to happen but...

when they announced Liddell/Silva at the one UFC they assumed that Liddell was going to beat Babalu (which he did) and they assumed that Silva was going to win that following PRIDE event.   Well Cro Cop knocked Silva out so Dana White basically decided that Silva didnt deserve a chance at the UFC championship at that time.

atleast thats what I heard/read.

There was still alot of talk about it though, but now since Silva lost again it doesnt look very promising.

Chuck Norris was in the crowd and later whooped Henderson's ass in the parking lot.

QuoteMMA LEGALIZED IN PENNSYLVANIA
Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - by Mitch Gobetz - MMAWeekly.com
Pennsylvania has become the latest state to remove the ban of mixed martial arts. There was a meeting held yesterday with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission to remove the ban, and apparently, they will begin to write the regulations.

After an online petition was submitted to the athletic commission, they decided to have a meeting about the enabling of mixed martial arts. The petition contained more than 950 electronic signatures.

Executive director Gregory Sirb confirmed the news to MMAWeekly about the athletic commission approving what they called "MMA-style events". With Pennsylvania approving MMA, they will likely follow the unified rules in use by most athletic commissions in the United States.

Philadelphia is likely to be the largest target market in Pennsylvania for MMA due to its size, and Pittsburgh is another attractive target market.

With the UFC expanding to new markets, this could open up another venue for them to look at for a future event. The Wachovia Center in Philadelphia would likely be the first place that most promoters would target since it holds more than 21,000 people for NBA basketball games.

Awsome, I'll be there.

I watched the World Combat League on VS.  The Philadelphia Fire destroyed New England.  Its more of a kickboxing fighting.
