Come on Irene, oh your wind's within reach
Why don't you take your talents, right to South Beach?
With your current course, my thoughts of your force
Verge on destruction, ah come on Irene.

19 years ago today Hurricane Andrew blew up South Florida.

Time's flying. I remember that day was my first day of 8th grade.

That was the year my parents moved down here, and I was here on my last summer break in college.  The day Andrew hit was the day my wife (then fiancee) was supposed to fly down from Maine to drive back to PA.  Obviously her flight was cancelled.

My mother overreacted (typical for her) and made us all drive to freakin' Gainesville in a panic over the hurricane.  Usually it's a 4½ hour drive, but it took about 7 that day because of traffic.  While there, my transmission blew, and I ended up having to stay in the Gainesville hotel for an extra two days while everyone else drove back to Naples.

That week sucked balls like Chuggie's internet persona.

Sounds like when Ike hit here - a normal 2:45 drive to San Antonio took me close to eight.

His real life persona takes the balls and shaft.......at the same time.

The good news is that Daytona Beach didn't get slammed.

I really picked the right week to work from home.  Normally I'd be flying into DC on Sunday.
I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.

i live in a 40 story highrise in north jersey and went to take the dog out this morning, and saw a few window screens already blown from their units..this is gonna be a big one, and im pretty damn excited

Munson

The hurricane has tracked further west then they expected already, making the danger for the Philly area even worse.

This is going to be bad.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I know two old people in New Smyrna, wherever that is.  I hope they don't get hurt.  Nice folks.

If this thing goes up the chesapeake, it could be farging amazing and devastating.  If i die, SunMo gets my jerseys.
