id go andre johnson if its a ppr league (if its not a ppr league id drop out)...thomas' touches are gonna be cut into significantly by white welker

if it was me id take aj anyway...I just have a gut that hes gonna have a monster year...i think he gets in the end zone more on a hunch that arian foster breaks down this season....but take my personal feelings out of it I think you gotta give a very slight edge to thomas if for no other reason than aj has had injury issues in the past

These are the results from my first draft of the year...12 team with two keepers. Guys that were kept the year previous can't be kept, nor can guys that were drafted in the first 3 rounds. We had to draft way early this year because two of our guys are in europe for the entire month of august/part of september.

I had #2 overall...reached on Shady, thinking he has a big year and I'm with IGY on buying a Foster breakdown this year due to amount of touches. Martin and Spiller were kept, and it's .5 PPR and standard ESPN scoring otherwise...

QB: Tom Brady
RB: LeSean McCoy
RB: Chris Johnson
WR: Reggie Wayne (keeper)
WR: Danny Amendola (keeper)
W/R: Hakeem Nicks
TE: Jared Cook
K: Matt Prater
D/ST: Denver Broncos

Bench: Ryan Matthews
Bench: Shane Vereen
Bench: Stevie Johnson
Bench: Jermichael Finley
Bench: Josh Freeman
Bench: Malcolm Floyd

also, does anybody know of an app or program that allows an ipad user to draft?  yahoo's draft website requires flash which apple doesn't allow on it's devices.

I just drafted in a yahoo league on my iPhone. It kind of sucks, but it works. Tried entering the draft room via my iPad but it wouldn't work. No idea why. 2013 version says its good for mobile.

I've only done the Keeper League for the last 3 yrs I think. Drafted in a 10 team league today. Forgot how much longer those drafts are when you've got 15 picks. I picked 9th (puke).

My squad:

T Brady

T Richardson
A Foster
D Williams
P Thomas
B Brown

V Cruz
P Garçon
T Smith
A Boldin
K Thompkins

V Davis
B Myers

Gostkowski

San Fran

once you drafted brady there was no need to waste another draft asset on kapernick.  you definitely should have grabbed at least one more back.

considering what rd you got him in he holds much higher value than a WR 2/3 or RB2. his ceiling is sky high

My thinking as well and I've already had offers for him. But sunny is right I should have taken another back. I have first choice for waiver pick ups so I'm gonna see how it plays out before I make any moves.

Nice depth at WR, hb. You should end up having a nice set of RBs too assuming one of your three back ups works out.

Seems like everyone here had their drafts this weekend...mine was Saturday10 team PPR Keeper league. Auction draft, prices paid are next to the names. We keep QB/RB/WR/TE/Rookie/Any, but even with all those keepers a lot of guys had money to spend, so some prices definitely got inflated.

QB-Russell Wilson ($10)
RB-Adrian Peterson ($31) keeper
RB-Alfred Morris ($6) keeper
WR-Antonio Brown ($3) keeper
WR-James Jones ($16)
WR-Chris Givens ($11)
TE-Rob Gronkowski ($3)
W/R/T-Daryl Richardson ($27)

K-Justin Tucker ($1)
D/ST-Seattle ($4)

Bench: Ben Roethlisburger ($3) keeper
Bench: Shane Vereen ($6)
Bench: Eddie Lacy ($28)
Bench: Bryce Brown ($6) keeper
Bench: Tavon Austin ($21)
Bench: Kenbrell Thompkins ($7)
Bench: Percy Harvin ($4)

I was planning on keeping Harvin this year until he got hurt. Ended up getting him with my last roster spot for $4 and now control him for the next three seasons coutning this one. Only have to pay 10% premium for keepers too.

I like my core guys...really happy I got Wilson for $10, even though a healthy Big Ben has been pretty good for me the last two years. Not so happy with the WRs I ended up getting...I like them all, but obviously they're all question marks.

Yahoo does a "draft report card" now that gets generated about 30 seconds after your draft ends.  It's meaningless as all hell, much like the game recap that they implemented last year, but according to that report card, they graded my draft a B and are projecting me to finish 11-3 and in 2nd place in my non- :CF league.  Highest grade they gave was a B+ (which went to the person with the 1st overall pick) and the lowest was a C-.  Everyone else got a B.

doing the fanduel.com thing for the first time this year. Pretty bad ass the way it is set up.

60k salary cap for each week. each nfl player has a dollar amount to his name every week--so everyone just can't pick up studs across the board.

Im did (2) $25 3-team contests this week. Winner gets $67.50. Lots of other contests you can do too. Highly recommend it.

I left Boldin on the bench in my non :CF league. I'll still probably win because I've got Cruz tonight and Arian & Garçon tomorrow night and I'm only down 9, but still....I hate leaving that many points on the bench and would much rather go to bed tonight knowing I've got it wrapped up.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2013 - we care about your Big Money League
Post by: Sgt PSN on September 09, 2013, 07:11:38 AM
It's gotta be a glitch, but Yahoo's projected points are all identical to the final points totals for each player, which really sucks if you want to see how good/bad your individual players did in comparison to what their projections were.  Looks like they're trying to do live updates to their projections during the games, which is stupid.

Also, their mobile app shtein the bed yesterday.  They pushed out an update which made it partially functional, but if you play in more than 1 yahoo league, you can't switch back and forth between leagues without completely closing the app and restarting it each time you want to view a different league.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2013 - we care about your Big Money League

Cruz came through for me big time last night.  I was trailing by 20something heading into SNF and now I'm up 10.  My opponent still has Shady and Houston D, but I've got Foster and Garcon so I'm feeling pretty good about this one, especially since this other league I'm in puts almost no emphasis on defensive scoring.

Sorry, guys. Since I don't need Foster to win this week I've already drafted a letter to Kubiak telling him to give Arian some R&R to make sure he's ready for when I do need him. I wish I knew you needed him earlier, but I already hit send, so it's practically a done deal.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2013 - we care about your Big Money League
Post by: Sgt PSN on September 12, 2013, 04:01:32 PM
Brady is pretty much guaranteed to give you 250ish and 2 tds even with the injuries.  Not great, but should be good for somewhere around 22-25 pts.  He's been my keeper QB for probably like 8 years now and I really can't remember more than a few select games that he's given me less than 20.

Kap has more fantasy upside then Brady because of mobility and better targets, but the match up is brutal.  Look what Sea did to Cam last week.  I think Kap could just as easily get you 16pts as he could get you 30+.  Look at the rest of your roster and compare how it matches up to your opponent.  If things are looking pretty even, then I'd play it safe and go with Brady.  If you've got a tough match up this week and think you will probably lose, then you may want to go with Kap and hope that he goes crazy again and helps you pull out a win.

Here's my dilemma for the week.  Pick 3:

Cruz vs Den
Garcon @ GB
Torrey Smith vs Cle
Thompkins vs NYJ
Boldin @ Sea

An added element to complicate things is that I have Vernon Davis as my TE.  If I play Boldin, that gives me 2 position players on the same team and if Seattle D balls out, then I'm getting hurt twice as bad.

Another added element is that I was able to pick up J Thomas on the waiver wire.  So I have a decision to make at TE.

Last element is that my flex includes a TE option.  So I could play 3 WR or I could play 2 WR and 2 TE.  Decisions, decisions.  Thoughts or suggestions?

I'm thinking out loud here:

Starting Kaep over Brady this week. My thinking is Brady probably won't have Gronk and Amendola back. The Bucs D isn't great but he hasn't been lighting up the bad teams.

Kaep is coming off a bad performance and they're playing the Colts who's D isn't great either. Plus I like this matchup better.

Sat Brady for Kap in my other league which was a huge mistake. Didn't see Daryl Richardson on the inactive a so I put him in my flex spot instead of Fred Jackson which was another mistake. I'm down by 30 last night to my buddy with Antonio Brown and the Bears d to go. Could not have gone better...won by 20 and missed winning the weekly league pot by 10.

I usually start Randall Cobb as my WR and have Antonio Brown in my flex spot, but GB has a bye this week so Brown is moving into the flex spot. I have two flex spots, one is a WR/TE the other is a WR/RB. Here's who I have:

Chris Givens (they play at home vs SF)
Daryll Richardson
Mike Williams (they play at home vs. Arizona)
Fred Jackson (at home vs. Baltimore)

Need opinions on which two I should use in my flex spots

i am thinking about benching Kap tonight for Cutler against detroit.  detroit's pass defense if higher ranked than st. louis though.  kap is missing vernon davis (possibly).  tough call

This is another thing that sucks about Thurs night football.  Totally fargs with fantasy.

I'd stick it out with Kap though.  He's too dynamic.  Cutler is a pretty average fantasy QB who is only going to get you points through the air.

Pick 3 WR

Cruz @ KC
Garcon @ Oak
Boldin @ StL
Torrey Smith @ Buf
K. Thompkins @ Atl

Gotta go with your first three there, IMO.

Then again, I started Kenbrell in week 1 and week 2, and had him benched last week. Dickhead.

Not to mention that Kap has been playing poorly and Cutler has been playing fairly well, even if his fantasy numbers don't jump out at you.  Point is, both trends are due for a reversal.

All "which WR" questions should include whether or not it's a PPR league.

All hot women should beg for my jizz.

Now...

My options at TE in a non-PPR league are:

Vernon Davis @ STL (Questionable)
Jared Cook vs. SF

I have to set my lineup within a half hour or so because I'm going to the meaningless Baltimore vs. Toronto game tonight and won't be able to update my roster once we learn if Davis is going to play.  Do I roll the dice and put him in as the starter, or stick with the safe bet and start Cook?
Title: Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2013 - we care about your Big Money League
Post by: SD on September 26, 2013, 05:29:55 PM
Stick with the safe bet, I have Cook going tonight in my other league. I started Daryll Richardson last week who was questionable until game time, he played two snaps and netted me zero points. The Rams D blows but SF's offense is struggling.

That's all I put in, it's a pretty cool set up, you play someone with a cap. There are a bunch of $2 games so it's not like you need a shtein ton of money.

Both Mike Williams and Vincent Jackson are playing today. I have both playing in my other league so I've been sweating their questionable status. Every other player I have either played Thursday night (Givens, Richardson) or has a bye.

Opinions on this trade needed:

I'd get Doug Martin (Tampa has a bye this week)

I'm giving:
Chris Johnson (has been awful this year)
Colin Kaepernick

I'll just pick up another QB when Brady has a bye.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2013 - we care about your Big Money League

Trade doesn't do much for me because Martin has been disappointing as well and Tampa's offense is kind of in shambles now.  Based on production through 4 weeks, Martin is only a slight upgrade over CJ and I'd say it's practically an even swap. 1 for 1 trades don't seem to happen very often in fantasy though, so if you're going to throw Kap in (who has a really high fantasy ceiling) then you need to get someone else in return to even things out a bit.  You'd basically be giving Kap away for free, imo.

I ended up going with Cruz, Garçon, Smith. Garçon has been extremely consistent for me while everyone else was sort of boom or bust.

Naturally, when Boldin put 20 on the board on thur, I was kicking myself in the ass, but  I had great matchups with all 5 and all 5 of them performed really well.  Best combo would have been Cruz, Thompkins, Smith.  Didn't matter which 3 I played, I beat my opponent by 70. Thompkins has had 2 really good weeks in a row now. I may have to consider starting him sooner or later.

The Bucs play easier Defenses than the Titans do. They come out of the bye playing the Eagles. Johnson has done nothing for me. I'm sitting him this week and starting Richardson because the Rams are playing the Jags. Gonna start Fred Jackson Thursday vs. the Browns.

I'd still try and get him to throw another player in to even things out a bit.  If you make the trade as is, it wouldn't be the worst trade ever. I just think its pretty meh.

I'll just pick up another QB when Brady has a bye.

Given that you're going to be starting Brady pretty much no matter what, I think it's an okay trade.  Kap isn't worth much to you and Martin is a better back in a better situation.   So do it.

If you can get the other guy to throw in whoever he's going to be cutting to make room for Kap, that's all the better.  You may still cut that player but it gives you first shot at him without waivers.

I have 2 spots open and have 3 RBs

Chris Johnson vs. The Chiefs D
Daryll Richardson vs. The Jags D
Freddie Jackson vs. the Browns D

I leaning towards Richardson and Jackson. Richardson sucks but the Rams run D is ranked dead last. Spiller is having ankle problems, the Browns run D is decent.

Chris Johnson has done squat all season and the Chiefs D is pretty good.

Thoughts?

So with this fan duel thing.....do the player salaries change from week to week, based on yearly performance to date, or are the prices fixed for the entire season?

I'm up 22 pts. in my other league, dude I'm playing has the Niners D and Janikowski left. Before kickoff I was an 88% favored to win. After that pick I'm only up by 5 pts. and am now favored to lose. What the farg is wrong with you Matt Schaub you farging scrub.

In most leagues, he's been the 5th or 6th most scoring QB in fantasy this season. He's been a perfect fit for Reid's offense.

I'm pretty sure Reese is going to take it this week.  I needed a bigger night from Rivers because Smith is going to turn the ball over and give Atl defense points.  Cool concept for fantasy football though.  Doubt I'll play every week because I'm not dropping $100/month on fantasy football, but I'll definitely jump in every now and then.

we dont have to play $25 every time. i could have made the matchup $5, but the payout would have bought you a pack of gum. if we would have done $10 at 4 players the winner would have gotten $36.

i was in (3) $5 tourneys this week. although i didnt take top 5, in one of them I took 21st place out of 3000+ people and got $90 out of it. thats a pretty good return on a measley $5.

perfect example: this week. $300,000 prize pool $25 entry fee.

1st place  $25000, 2nd--$12000, 3rd--$8000 and payouts down to 1270th place. i dont care how many people there are (and there will by thousands) it only takes one week of picking the right players and you're coming out making money

I'm in 2 yahoo leagues, the one with you fargfaces and one at work. I prefer the waiver pick up in the CF league, first come first serve. The other league I'm in you put your waiver claim in then have to wait until Wednesday morning to pick someone up. There's also a waiver order. I was 8th this past week. I dropped Kaep because he farging blows and put in for Andre Brown thinking no way I get him. Sure enough I got him.

the waiver thing is retarded because it dosnt reward the worst teams

but its still better than a free for all....then you have fantasy nerds sitting at home on their computers watching box scores and picking up the top free agents of the week on the spot while people who go to games or watch games without being on the computer or who run errands on sunday are at a disadvantage

in our league no one is allowed to pick up any players between 1pm sunday and 3pm tuesday.....each week by noon on tuesday you send in your waiver picks (up to two per team) and the selections are awarded as a draft would work....team with worst record gets first pick and so on....those picks are posted to the league message board btwn noon and 3 on tuesday and then at 3 tues until 1pm the next sunday its wide open free agency again

In Yahoo! leagues, you can set the shtein up so the worst team has the first shot.

thats proper as long as you can a. make it like a snake draft instead of say the worst team getting as many players as they want before the second worst team gets their pick and b. you can limit the number of players a team can claim under the process

Question for the CBS Sportsline FF guys.  I'm in a league with a dumb rule, but one that actually benefits me.  We're allowed a total of 8 RB/WR combo at any given time on your total roster excluding IR'd players.  In week 10, I  won my matchup, but an official rescore of stats ended up leaving the matchup in a 115.85 exact tie.  Ends up the guy I played had 9 players which resulted in his win based off Bench point total vs mine.  Just to be sure before I go ahead and file a protest, I'm not showing any of his players on IR at this time.  Is there a way to see what players were on fantasy team issued IR?

we have a great race to finish the year in fantasy right now

team A has matt forte and a 12 pt lead
team B has dez bryant and witten

if team B wins he wins his division ($250)....if he loses he misses the playoffs completely and a team C would get in while a team D would win the division

Need some opinions for my work/fanduel lineup, which two would you go with:

Cooper vs. Minny D and Lacy vs. Cowboys D (all signs point to Lacy playing)

Or

Stacy vs. New Orleans D and Torrey Smith vs. Detroit's D

I'm going with option A, primarily because running backs don't put up a lot of points vs. the Saints D. I think Stacy is the better back and Smith the better WR. Rodgers is not playing so Lacy should get a lot of work and Cooper should put a lot of points up on a decimated Vikings D.

Opinions?

Also I'm going with Cam Newton (vs. the Jets) as my QB over Foles and Stafford (Ravens D). Opinions on that as well.

I like option A better there.

Should I go Chiefs D on the road against Oakland, or Panthers D at home against the Jets?

My heart says Chiefs D since they've been huge for me most of this year...gut says Panthers have the slightly better matchup, and are at home which should help.

My cousin was down to the final 4 in a suicide pool worth $5K. She took the Eagles yesterday. I begged her not too but she insisted. Her and another guy are out because of the Birds. The other two people took the Panthers.

So I ended up winning my match-up. I didn't think I had a shot when Jamaal Charles went off and he still had Stafford and Pitta. Thankfully they both sucked last night and I won by like 11.

So I am in the finals and my opponent has hung his hat on Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham and the Seahawks defense. They all have tough match-ups this week.

I get an e-mail from the dude this morning and he wants to split the pot.

1st place gets $1100 and second gets $660

I'm not going to do it. I want that $1100

i'm in the finals of one of my leagues this week. $800 to first place, $400 to second. and unless someone scores more than 140 points more than me, i'm high scorer for the season which means i get all the transaction fees, about $400+.

and right now the dude that i'm playing has kurt cousins in over tom brady, either the ballsiest or dumbest move ever.

Not splitting the pot was a good decision by me....I won 183-135

I'm in the final of a small money league....$200 for first. I'm up by 59 pts. I have Tony Gonzalez left and he has Colin Kap, V.D., and Crabtree going tonight.

I hope to hold. (Praying)

I'm in the 3rd place match for another money league...$160 for 3rd. I was down by about 50 and I had Shady and Cooper...I closed to within 3 pts (farg Chris Polk). He has Colin Kap and I have Anquan Boldin. Unless Boldin blows up tomorrow night and gets all of his TD's...I'm pretty much done.

I'm down 27 with only Crabtree left.

I've got 99 problems but a split ain't one

It's been almost ten years since I played fantasy football.  I've enjoyed the break.  It's nice to just watch a game and not care about the stat scroll at all.  Almost becomes invisible.

Alas all good things must end, and I got roped into joining a league this year.  Standard scoring thing on Yahoo, no real money at stake.

A couple things I want help with:
I don't care to obsess over this but I'm not trying to be embarrassed either.  Anyone got a free cheat sheet/prep site/app/file they can share.  I'm drafting on the 6th, hoping to have at least an idea what positions I want in what order, etc.
The league is a bunch of mid western whiteys.  Six Chiefs fans, Two packers fans, and one Indianapolis guy....then there's me.  I'd like to troll these fargers hard.  Open to any and all trash talk suggestions.

One of the lists I reference...probably the most accurate and I like they split it up into tiers. They have some free mock draft simulators with adp too

Standard scoring list

rate my draft

ten teams
basically standard scoring
QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, W/R/T, W/R/T, K, DEF, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, IR, IR

I drafted 9th, 12th, etc.

9 Cooper Kupp
12 JaMarr Chase
29 Jalen Hurts
32 Mark Andrews
49 Terry McLaurin
52 Travis Etienne
69 Rashad Penny
72 Antonio Gibson
89 Devin Singletary
92 Dallas Goedert
119 Hunter Renfrow
122 Brandon Aiuk
139 David Njoku
142 Nyeim Hines

I didn't draft K or D....was drunk by then and figured I'll just drop and add.

Mock me

I only played standard once (first ever draft in 2013). On paper your team looks solid. Etienne (have him in 2 leagues round 4...he never made it past round 4 in any league) in the 5th is good value. RBs are a little weak but you have monster wrs which should make up the difference. In a standard scoring league (assuming it's only 4 pts for passing tds) Hurts is a solid pick...in standard scoring he's like having an extra rb. I usually wouldn't carry 2 TEs especially since you have potentially the #1 te but Goedert in rd 9 is a steal. Gibson was a smart pick since his only competition was shot. I'd say you're safe to drop Njoku to pick up a K or D. Maybe try to trade Hines and a flex wr to the Jonathan Taylor owner to see if you can snag another rb. I'm a fantasy dork sorry for the long winded post. Please keep me posted.

Appreciate the suggestions...need to add a K and a DEF so Njoku is the clear drop for one of those....Hines will be the other if I can't interest the dude who has Taylor

thanks

looks like you're actually carrying 4 TEs.  but I guess if they are interchangeable with WRs no biggie.

I just had a draft last night for the first time in maybe 5 years....didn't even know 50% of the names.

I feel you.  I was frantically looking dudes up going...who the farg is Courtland Sutton....is that the guy Andre Johnson beat up...how is he still in the league...and I thought he was a CB....ACK, my pick!!

Sutton/Jeudy are huge ? because they finally have a decent qb (Russell Wilson...I still think of him with Seattle) I found people reaching for Sutton when more established players were available.

Andrews/Goedert/Njoku unless I'm missing someone. I noticed his format you do not need to start a te but there's two flex options w/r/t. Andrews is a no brainer one of the flex spots.

i dont know how you got kupp and chase, your league sucks. those are both steals. jalen hurts in the 3rd is awful. so is andrews in the 4th. i know you love the ravens and eagles but no. im a believer in the no rb strategy so getting your pass catchers and qb first, then picking off rbs is fine.

keep hines and drop the latter picks for a k and def. then dig me a ditch

It's a standard league so no points for catches. In most formats that have any ppr I go heavy wr...it's the way the league and fantasy is going.
Title: Re: Random Musings about Fantasy Football thread

I'm gonna add Elliott and Eagles D

at 9/12 the very best RBs were gone and so, figuring I was gonna have to have stud WRs I went with Kupp and Chase, then reached for Jalen because EAGLE and also, I need to make up RB points, which he will give...gotta have some qb, might as well be a dual threat homer piece....Andrews was then my fourth choice because that was too high to take Etienne or the like and Andrews is basically a top two TE..in this format, I can run him every week somehow...Dallas was still there later and I added him figuring he'd be a good flex option weekly or I could trade him out for an RB maybe...I dunno.

I haven't done this shtein for ten years.

The scoring is not stock standard...values are higher almost across the board than the standard set..which for what I can tell, just means more points not a different balance of how to score 'em.  The league is a bunch of midwestern folks....Kelce the Lesser and Mahomes went way way too early.

So I guess SD has finally been repatriated to the other CF, leaving me no one to talk about Fantasy with....

With Jones out, I'm starting AJ Dillon today instead of Stephenson against Miami.  F'n Mattison did farg all for me and I should have known better than to start an RB against the Eagles.

Hurts on MNF @ KC

or

Stroud at home v. AZ

I'm leaning Stroud.

I lost my game regardless of who I started or didn't.  Across all positions/had I started my optimal roster last wee, I still would have lost, but:  I went with Stroud, and he scored more points than Hurts did.

I've always been reasonably successful in fantasy football.  Don't know if I've ever had a a sub .500 season.  Every season I think my success has boiled down to good FA and waiver wire pickups.  This year, more of the same: Kyren Williams, CJ Stroud, Raheem Mostert long standing roster spots now, none drafted by me originally, or traded for.

After a long (7 year) hiatus, I returned to fantasy last year.  Friend had to fill a slot after a literal suicide by a team manager.  I finished 3rd last year and just won it this year.
