This Brian Flores lawsuit is something else. He named the Giants, Broncos and Dolphins in it and said that they engaged in racism and discrimination when it comes to hiring black coaches.
And additionally he says Stephen Ross offered him $100k per loss in 2019, and had him recruit a QB under contract.
Specifically the Giants are accused of a sham interview. He found out because Belichick sent him a congrats text thinking they were hiring him.
That last bit confuses me a bit on how the line was drawn from a text to him from BB.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Well this explains it.
Belichick thought he was texting Daboll and instead texted Flores. He knew that Daboll was NYGs guy before the Flores interview which does prove it was merely a sham to comply with the Rooney rule.

BB texted Flores congrats on getting the job, thinking he was texting Daboll. And that was before the Giants interviewed Flores.
lol and now the vikings hire another white dude
man i love this
Who did Minny hire? Harbaugh?
I hope Flores doesn't settle or sign NDAs.
The NFL cabal of rich white dudes needs a reckoning. From Kap and Eric Reid to the concussion settlements based on race to this. Oh and sweeping the WFT stuff under the rug.
Burn it down, FLORES!
Also, re the NFL's press release denying any such systemic racism exists:
It's almost as if they had a statement prepared to address accusations of systemic racism in a system that is systemically racist to its rotten core.
Ha. Love the subtle jab.

Hasn't even interviewed yet
michigan people already consider him gone....theres no way hes going through the process without the job being locked up. college coaches dont flirt unless theyre going all the way
he's literally interviewing for the job ON national signing day
im not sure exactly whats going on here but jim harbaugh does not strike me as a guy who is going to go along with what a black dood 20 years younger than him says...feels like a power struggle with an o/u of the draft
awful take
John had no trouble with Ozzie (who was older, sure)
what's race got to do with it? You think Harbaugh is gonna have a problem on race?
Jim also had Kap as his QB and I don't recall any issues between them
john is his brother
maybe i didnt need to preface is it by race but he is an insane control freak, cannot see him having a long term partnership with an exec hes not in control of
i guess it wont matter...he bombed the interview, pretended that hes staying at michigan and the vikings are hiring another one of mcvay's boys
i.e. another white dood
giants lost their DC to the raiders

Saints job still open, but they are supposedly done with their interviews. Not an easy job. Best player on the team just arrested on a felony, salary cap room is negative a billion, following a beloved coach. Unlike the Texans at least the franchise itself is stable and professional.

feels like they are buying time until they can hire mccown. so they are hiring a brotha until they can get away with it....which begs the question why fire culley in the first place if youre just gonna go with a token placeholder who is keeping most of the same staff that you supposedly had a problem with?
complete dumpster fire
feels like they dumped culley to hire mccown, got a ton of pushback and settled on lovie
Yep that's how it is I think. If Flores doesn't file suit then McCown is the HC. But because Flores' suite put a huge spotlight on the minority coaching jobs they could f hire McCown.

Yeah, the Vikings dude will be official after the Super Bowl.
Texans: Culley was one and done, and the team as presently constructed stinks. Think Lovie would have to be a Freddie Kitchens level nightmare to not get two years minimum, so placeholder might be too strong a word. I don't think he's a good coach, but a guy with that much experience isn't going to shtein down his leg that badly. BOB to Culley to McCown carried a lot more risk of further franchise embarrassment, not even considering the racial angle.

A grand jury declined to indict Deshaun Watson following a police investigation that was sparked by lawsuits filed by 22 women accusing him of harassment and sexual assault.
Prosecutors from the district attorney's office in Harris County, Texas, presented evidence and testimony to the 12-person grand jury for over six hours on Friday related to nine of the 10 criminal complaints filed against Watson. The grand jury, which does not require a unanimous vote, rejected all nine cases; prosecutors did not present the 10th.
"It's definitely a very emotional moment for me. I know we're far from being done of handling what we need to handle on the legal side, but today is definitely a big day," Watson, speaking to reporters for the first time in over a year, said at a news conference outside his lawyer's office building. "I thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ for letting the truth be heard. And I thank everyone that was a part of this for seeing and hearing both sides. That's what my point and my team wanted to do, is have a fair slate of us telling our side of the story and letting the conclusion come to what happened today, and that's what the grand jury decided on.
"I'm just going to keep fighting to rebuild my name and rebuild my appearance in the community. And on the legal side handle what we need to handle. But also ready to get on the field, and prep for that."
A spokesman for the NFL, which is investigating Watson under its personal conduct policy, said in a statement Friday, "We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter."
In January 2021, Watson asked the Texans to trade him because he was unhappy about the direction of the franchise.

cin/dal would be an interesting choice because this is a CBS game (dal home vs. afc team) yet airing on fox. dallas games are very valuable commodities and cbs generally does not lose their 2 games. so we'll see here if this is 1) true and 2)if true do they get an even out. ok maybe only i will because who else could possibly care.

Not that interesting, they rotate the late (Dallas) Thanksgiving game every year independent of the rest of the contracts. You're supposed to know this stuff.
youre misunderstanding
yes they rotate the late game, but whatever game they pick generally already belongs to said network. so if its a cbs game, dallas generally hosts an afc team. if its a fox game, its an nfc team.
here we have fox airing a game with an afc team as the visitor. not sure if thats legit and not sure if anyone should find it interesting but me

The Browns and Panthers have agreed to a trade that sends Mayfield to Carolina in exchange for a 2024 conditional fifth-round pick (which can become a fourth-round selection), NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday. The deal is pending a physical. Carolina later announced the acquisition.
Cleveland will pay Mayfield $10.5 million this season, saving over $8 million in cash and salary-cap space, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. Carolina, meanwhile, will pay the fifth-year QB around $5 million. Mayfield, who was originally owed $18.858 million, agreed to a $3.5 million pay cut, but can earn back what he gave up in incentives.

I'd ride it out with Hurts then see what unfolds in next years draft or possible trade market. Murray's a legit franchise qb and unfortunately the going rate for those players is astronomical.
theres really no trade market, murray was it. i guess lamar is the closest but i dont see a scenario wheres he gets out of b more. their only other play is the packers season is such a disaster that rodgers wants out, with his contract untradeable, they just cut him. he picks philly because of the line/skill position talent and ability to overpower a sap like sirianni
so yea im overpaying for murray because every other scenario is implausible

leaked judgement for Watson: 6 games
wow NFL really taking a stand. like 1/5 of a game for every woman he harassed.
The NFL wants to punt these decisions to the indepedent arbiter so that the commissioner isn't the focal point of people thinking decisions are too light/harsh. Clearly the current incarnation of that system has failed because now this goes right back to Goodell's desk.
I think Watson is a scumbag who should never play football again, but I do think it should give us some pause that a district attorney, two grand juries, and now a federal judge all seem to think Watson's conduct is less objectionable than the court of public opinion does.
I see no cause for pause on that count. DA, grand juries, and judges are making judgements according to the law, and against an expressly difficult standard of proof. Polled personally, I doubt you'd find any of them view his conduct better than the general public does.

The arbiter is ruling against the conduct clause of the CBA, not the high bar of criminal charges. And the public (including myself) has been outraged at all of these decisions -- not just Watson's conduct -- without consideration of the standard of proof. I do question my own conclusions when those expressly weighing the evidence in detail conclude differently than what I do based only on what has played out in public.
Sounds like the league was pushing for a suspension of at least a year but was willing to come down to 12 games and a multimillion dollar fine in a settlement. The NFLPA wanted no suspension at all but was willing to settle up to 6 games. It seems like no one wants to make an actual decision on Watson. The judge's ruling essentially sides with the NFLPA's version of the appropriate punishment, but by giving any suspension at all she kicks the question back to the league office and washes her hands of it.
I think there is a version of things where legal action continues and Watson can start the season until things are resolved. What a trainwreck.
Can't wait until it gets argued down to 4 games, the team manages to make the playoffs, and some dipshtein announcer talks about how Watson overcame his offseason issues.

I'm not sure if I may have posted this before, but I met Bart Starr and he couldn't have been more of a class act. When I was just lil'holic at the time, and the fam happened to be at Stanford for a week when Pops was attending a conference.
A dood told Pops we should go out to the practice fields that afternoon to check out their All American QB (Plunkett). But when we got to that area of the facility we first found another field where the (at that time) legendary GB Packers were practicing. Not sure if it was summer camp or getting ready for a week 1 game on the coast. Anyway, pops points out, Starr so I go up and ask for an autograph. He couldn't have been a nicer or more considerate guy. He asked, almost humbly, if I wouldn't mind holding his helmet for him so he could sign. I thought the pic was long lost, but was delighted to come across it just a couple of years ago, with me walking with along side him. Pops said I should have just run away with the helmet cause it would be worth more than a stinking autograph. I learned a real lesson that day and have been working on my 40 time ever since.

QuoteOdell Beckham Jr. was removed from a flight at Miami International Airport on Sunday after police say the free agent wide receiver was "in and out of consciousness" and refused to leave the airplane when asked.
According to a statement from the Miami-Dade Police Department obtained by multiple outlets, officers were called to the airport for a medical emergency after the flight crew expressed concern that Beckham was seriously ill.
"The flight crew was concerned for a passenger [Mr. Odell Beckham], as they tried to wake him to fasten his seat belt, he appeared to be coming in and out of consciousness, prior to their departure," the police statement said. "Fearing that Mr. Beckham was seriously ill, and that his condition would worsen through the expected 5 hour flight, the attendants called for police and fire rescue. Upon the officers arrival, the flight crew asked Mr. Beckham several times to exit the aircraft, which he refused."
Police said the airplane was evacuated and that Beckham ultimately got off the plane when asked by officers. Social media video appeared to show Beckham walking into the terminal with police officers.
Beckham appeared to address the incident in a series of tweets Sunday morning, writing "Never in my life have I experienced what just happened to me... I've seen it alll.." and calling the situation "comedy hr."

Brees was filming a commercial at the Catatumbo River, where there is lightning most nights. Seems like an ill-conceived idea. Just add the lightning in post, geez.
Taking chances with the high dollar spokesman to film an ad for a gambling outfit, gets struck.
There are jokes in here, I know it.

The lightning strike thing was a marketing stunt.
Is there a go to website to illegally watch nfl games these days?
https://reddit.nflbite.com/
good lookin.....pretty consistently reliable?
For now, sure.
i meant more when it is working is it clean as far as cutting out or pausing or pop up ads....shtein like that. like is the experience close to watching it on tv...ive never done it obviously so i know nothing about it and am trying to help a friend who never has either but has to sunday
As long as you've got an adblocker, you're good. If the stream has a chat window, you'll want to close that as soon as possible so as to not accidentally read anything too stupid.
You're really getting what you pay for. Sometimes the stream might cut out. Sometimes it might buffer. Even watching a legitimate Amazon stream isn't going to be 100% perfect.
hes trying to go thru his TV to watch it....are there ad blockers when you get the internet thru a tv?
This is almost certainly more work than someone is willing to do, but sure. https://www.instructables.com/Block-Ads-With-Your-Router-Using-Ad-blocking-DNS-S/
Jimmy G broken foot out for the season
Baker Mayfield getting cut by one of the worst teams in the league. Amazing how far he's fallen when you consider some of the guys still on rosters.
That doesn't surprise me. I was never a fan of his and thought then that CLE blew that pick.
glad I don't have to see his awful ads from the stadium anymore
I was hoping he would still be in ads. Would be a bold advertising strategy to stick with a player who sucks.
Titans fired their gm a week after Brown destroyed them
Rams claimed Mayfield
Wonder if SF put in a claim and the Rams did it to block them
Shanahan blew off the idea of wanting Mayfield so I doubt it.
They're talking up Purdy like they'd rather have no one else.

This is the shteintiest timeline.
the NFL people must be aghast that someone is equally as arrogant as they are
So, Todd Martzke, explain the CBS/FOX thing. If I have Sunday ticket I am still watching games that are broadcast through those networks.
any game that is given to you on fox/cbs will continue to be unavailable on the ticket
the easiest answer here is that cbs and fox pay a billion per year and they want to drive audience there and protect them as much as possible
ah i see - hence the arcane and completely idiotic blackout rules
Apple likes global rights and no blackouts, like they got with MLS. They would also like the ability to have some room to innovate with the broadcasts.
These things are anathema for the NFL.
like any business, its profit maximization
if they charged xx for every game no blackout, people would buy that and never watch cbs/fox. the value of the deal would go down and the league wouldnt make it up on an increase in subs. if you like that idea, its exactly what MLS is doing starting next year. you pay like $200 or something and get every single match. ill let you figure out the viewership differences between the nfl and mls.
I'll take a stab at it
no one watches baseball
everyone watches football
more or less
mls would be soccer, mlb is baseball. but sure.
mls viewership is better than it was but we're talking about a product that averages like 500k viewers versus one that just got 25 mil for a brock purdy blowout
Oh, you said MLS
same difference
Cards GM is taking a leave of absence for health reasons. Have to wonder if he's going to rehab since he's has some DUI issues.
Do you? Is that what you have to wonder?
I do. Amongst other things - like what you had for dinner and if you'll see the Eagles on Sunday?
Broiled salmon, rice, and squash, and no...they giving Baltimore Dallas Jacksonville.
Eat some wings, you hippie.
no football and dinner with a side order of cock

short version is apple couldnt figure out how to price it
the nfl is trying to recreate the directv model on streaming. you pay xxx for the service, then an additional xxx for the sunday ticket product. the restrictions and higher price point make the product limited, which funnels more viewership to cbs/fox who are each shelling out over $2 billion a year for sunday games. yes, OVER $2 billion a year.
id guess google at this point. they have youtubetv going and this can bring in new subscribers. amazon's situation is a little too much like apple. im interested to see if they offer per week or per game tiers. like if you want it for just week 4 it costs xxx, if you just want this bears/vikings games its xxx. as opposed to just having a seasonal price.
I know they're all evil but please don't let Bezos get it. I already hate that they have TNF
This safety for Jacksonville #5 Cisco hits hard
looks like youtube tv is getting the ticket and very notably it appears directv will not get the commercial aspect, which had been assumed a guarantee
gonna be interesting to see how that goes. maybe they just give it out to various cable companies? i dont think any bar or book is equip to handle 15 things streaming at once
What's the price going to be ya think?
probably very similar to what it is now...around $350 i think
the question will be do they have game specific or weekly tiers

the question will be do they have game specific or weekly tiers
gonna go out on a limb here and say "no". nfl gonna nfl
they do place a lot of restrictions around the product to protect cbs/fox but the weekly/game tiers would be to protect the overall product
$350/w over 18 weeks is $19 per week or like $3 per game. if you price those games at around $10 or the week at around $25, everyone is winning. team specific tiers also make sense (i.e. you just get eagles games) and the 4th qtr options to buy in into an existing game for a few bucks. lord knows they need more money.
Genuine lol on the punchline, you prick
Learned a couple things when reading about the loss of Franco Harris today
The Immaculate Reception happened his rookie year. And that was the first TD the Steelers had ever scored in the playoffs! They were so bad prior to the Steel Curtain days.
interesting wrinkle here for the ticket:
you will be able to get it WITHOUT subscribing to youtube tv. i dont know if there will be a price difference between the two, but youll be able to just buy it directly on youtube from the store like you would a movie.
inside baseball note is that theyre doing this to basically get into bed with the nfl. same as amazon. they can burn the money (this isnt a profitable package) in the near term to play the long game to get live games down the line.
I don't think any part of youtube has ever been profitable,
lol
