Follow The Leader - why I think Rakim is the best rapper of all time.

Crier of the week: Terrorists of all backgrounds. Tantrums are selfish acts by children; extortion and murder disguised as fervor for a cause are both selfish and just plain evil. "We're gonna blow up things and kill people until we get our way!" There's a convincing argument, huh?

Quote from: mussa on May 15, 2006, 11:35:29 PMNow I am into MF Doom, Danger Doom, Mr. Lif, El-P, Quasimoto, Aceylone, Del, Hieroglyphics, more lyrical, more though provoking hip-hop. I def. feel those were great days of hip-hop, but todays MC's, DJ's etc...are way more advanced.

El-P continues to be one of my favorite to date. Company flow to definitive jux...I just downloaded a 'Jukie skate rock' from their site. Pretty dope ass beat!

Like you mentioned, another aspect of the Hip-Hop culture that always strikes my soul is turntablism. The invisible skratch piklz, DJ babu, Rhettmatic, etc. and other crews have brought alot of attention to that. I still have my 1200's sitting in the garage waiting for me to take them out and start farging with them again. I've always been a beat before lyric type of fan. It takes me a while to learn the lyrics...but I'll recognize a beat 15 years later.
I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05

i am the same way with most generes of music. its the music or beat that i hear first and then lyrics come in last.

This thread is a life refresher. Man...nothing gets me grounded or back to me like when I listen to some classic hip-hop.( I'm sure many can relate to whatever genre of music they grew up with).
