i went out to charestown over the weekend to hit the casino and play the ponies.

hit three exactas in five races. was one away from the superfecta in one.  none of them were very big so only ended up leaving with a few hundred but man horse racing is fun to bet on when shtein like that is happening.

I wouldn't even know where to start. Is there research conducted or is it simply just liking a specific name? I am truly ignorant on the horsies.

i did actually buy a program and see their last few races, how they do with the track conditions, etc. but in all honesty yeah i picked whichever horse's name i connected with best. then had my chick pick whichever horse she liked when they walked by. usually it was a "pretty gray one". so yes, 100% luck. and actually one of them i picked 4-5 just because that had won for us the previous race. then it hit again.

What's a standard bet...it sounds like you don't have to bet too much?

you can actually win a shteinload of money on a $2 exacta or trifecta bet especially if you pick an underdog.

in the kentucky derby like 4-5 years ago the payout was $130K+ for a $2 trifecta which means you pick the first 3 horses in order. pretty much like playing the lottery but still.

i'll drop like 10-20 on horses straight up but when i do exactas or trifectas i usually keep it small because the payouts are still big.

and i was boxing the bets this weekend which means you pay more for the bet but it doesn't matter which order they come in.

How was the derby? That sounds like a good time. Does need to put it's stamp on the derby?
