So do we want the Phillies to go against the Padres pitching or the Rockies hitting??

Sgt PSN

I think the Phils would match up better with San Diego.  During the reg season they went 4-3 vs the Pads and 3-4 vs the Rockies.  But more importantly, the Rockies are just knocking the cover off the ball, playing great defense and are getting phenominal pitching.  They're the only team in the NL that's been hotter than the Phils over the last couple weeks.

I refused to acknowledge publicly the Phillies chances of winning the Division the last month, I only talked about their chances at the wild card.  :paranoid

I also had my son sitting on my lap watching the celebration and telling him I was one year older than he is when the Phillies won their World Series.

farg it...I'll admit it... Yesterday knocked the eagles down a peg for me while raising the phillies up.

It used to be
1- Eagles
2 - Phillies
6 - Flyers
999 - Sixers

I'm having doubts as to which is higher now.

If there were an eagles Divisional Round Playoff game on at the same time as game seven of the NLCS...I don't know which I would pick right now.

Padres
Positives for Phillies:
-- Average offense without Bradley and Cameron
-- No lefty starters
-- No Peavy until game 3
-- "Pitcher's park" for Moyer and Lohse in games 3 and 4
-- Tuesday will be their first and only off day since 9/10 after 4 plane trips in 9 days

Negatives for Phillies:
-- More playoff experience
-- Peavy/Young/Maddux could be tough
-- Good bullpen if they get a lead

Rockies
Positives for Phillies:
-- Not much playoff experience
-- Under .500 on the road
-- LaTroy Hawkins and Jorge Julio

Negatives for Phillies:
-- Offense is as good as the Phils and their 2-through-7 is dangerous
-- Major momentum (13-1 in their last 14)
-- Coors Field
-- 3 lefty starters
-- Young pitchers give the Phils problems

Here are some :CF predictions from before the season started:

BigEd: 91-71, no mention of playoffs
SD_E: slow start (check), 92-70 (close), playoffs (check)
MURP: 90-72
MDS: 89-73... but NO playoffs
Phreak (super homer): 94-68, playoffs
Wingspan: 86-76, 1 out of wild card
Eaglez: 91 wins "or" 84-88 (cop out and he STILL can't get it)

FastFreddie: "less than 90" wins (ha!), playoffs a possibility due to crappy NL

I rule.

Rome

I had them going 88-74 with no playoffs.  If they had lost yesterday and the Mets had won I would have been teh winnar.
