Boston College having to play in the Chumps Sports Bowl is hilarious.  I might go just to make fun of Boston fans.

I was just going to figure out the biggest winners/losers from the conference championship weekend.  Boston College and Missouri are clearly big-time losers, missing out on the $17 million payouts.

Illinois and Kansas are obviously both winners.  Michigan, also, roughly doubled their payout, as they were destined for the Champs Sports if Illinois didn't get the Rose Bowl invite.

I really wanted to see Illinois in the Cap One Bowl.  Ron Zook vs the Gators would have been worth the price of admission.

Illinois going to a BCS Bowl while Florida is stuck in Orlando is a delicious case of irony, though.

the Rose Bowl farged up with this one...they had a chance to take Georgia and passed because of tradition.  Illinois has no business being in a BCS bowl game while Missouri isn't in one

Florida should beat Michigan by at least 20.  Ohio State will lose by double digits also.

It's not even funny how much better the SEC is than the Big Ten right now.

as usual the sec as a whole is much better than the big ten but imo the sec isnt as strong at the top as in most years...06 fla was far and away better than 07 fla and lsu

i think ohio state has a great chance to win

You're leaving out that 06 Ohio State was way better than 07 Ohio State though.

better qb last year...i think the team and particularly the defense are better or at least as good this year

either way 07 osu is far closer to 07 lsu than 06 osu was to 06 fla....06 florida was superior in every facet...i mean im a huge sec fan and i think me and you had the discussion last year before the game and i thought florida would destroy ohio st...but this year i dont see as big a gap bwtn the four teams...dont get me wrong the sec teams are better but not so much where mich and/or ohio st could win...shtein florida has lost three times....tho they have had injuries and if i was michigan id be worried about them getting a month off

anyone watching this Fresno St./Georgia Tech game?  Some great hits so far.  34 - 21 Fresno but GT just blocked a punt and are in great field position.  Plus it's on the Blue Field at Boise.  Feel like i'm on LSD when i look at that field.

of course everyone here is just going ape shtein over the game.  Sugar Bowl shirts and signs everywhere.  i went to the last four games of the year and i am  the first to admit that the schedule was a joke.  other than Boise St. and Fresno St. (had hopes about Nevada until that dismal performance in the New Mexico Bowl) Hawaii played no one worth a shtein - which we can thank the likes of dumbfarg Lloyd Carr, Michigan State and Purdue who all Hoydaed out as Hawaii offered home and away.  I almost decked a friend of mine the other day who was just going of that Hawaii is one of the best teams in the country and they could beat anyone.  Idiot. He wouldn't listen to my "they almost lost to the last place team in the Pac 10 (Washington)" argument.

Hawaii is going to have to keep this thing high scoring.  I don't see the Hawaii defense stopping Georgia's running game and their speed.  Boise and Washington did a fantastic job in the first quarter of their respective games of keeping the Hawaii offense off the field - Bosie QB Tharpe showed he is no Zabranski and UW showed why they were last in the Pac 10 with their second half rollover.  If it turns into a shoot out, maybe, just maybe the Warriors can hang with Georgia.  Keep in mind that Georgia has had over a month to prepare for this offense.  I just hope Hawaii keeps it close and doesn't get blown out of New Orleans.

I do see Georgia winning but it will be closer than most are predicting:

Georgia 33
Hawaii 28

15,000+ Warrior fans are attending the game.  Spending like drunken fools in The Big Easy.

If Hawaii wins, Mai Tais for all CF on Don Ho!

ha....Bowden was whining because his player got flagged for the Reggie-Bush-somersault-into-the-endzone move that everyone else is doing without getting penalized.  Even without 36 players they almost beat Kentucky.  Woodson will probably end up on the Ravens...

The real bowl games start today  :yay

i retract my earlier prediction:

UGA 48

Hawaii 10

This should shut up all the Hawaii fans that thought this team belonged with the big boys.

think this is bad?  UH opens at Florida in August.  After that performance today Tebow and the boys are going to want to kick the shtein out of someone.

USC is the best team in the country.  Oklahoma might be the 2nd best with a healthy Sam Bradford.

this Florida/Michigan game is off the hook

Once again, the slow Big Ten just couldn't compete!

Hahaha - suck it, SEC.

Believe me... happy as hell with the outcome... but didn't see this one coming.  AT ALL.

Crazy thing is... Michigan should have blown them out.  4 turnovers, including Mike Hart (who had over 1,000 touches w/o a fumble) fumbling twice at the goal line??

Makes it that much easier for Rodriguez to get players in from the start.

The Big Ten has been so brutal that I'm actually reduced to rooting for all conference teams in the bowl season in order to spur on a comeback.

So far...
Winners:  Purdue (!), Penn State, Michigan
Losers:  Michigan State, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois

Yet to Play:  Ohio State.  Go Buckeyes?

agreed. never root for a rival.

I tried and found it completely impossible to root for Florida yesterday.  Michigan is hardly a rival of Penn State, considering they just put a "W" on their schedule with a Sharpie marker every time they play my beloved Nitts.  Penn State can call it a rivalry when they finally win a game.

I might be able to pull off LSU.  We'll see.

Word.  I was just explaining this to a co-worker of mine.  He's a Tennessee fan and says that come bowl time, you always want to root for the others in the conference to make the whole conference look better.  That's bullshtein.  Every single time Ohio State steps on the field, I want them to get absolutely mauled.

Come Jan 7th... Geaux Tigers!

to me its not even about rivals as much as it is throwing a blanket over an entire group of teams just because...i mean i also would never root for ohio state under any circumstances just because i despise them so much....

but other than those few teams that we all have that no matter what we root against
every year team and scenario is different

for example maybe ff hated florida a lot this year so he rooted for michigan...but if michigan plays alabama or arkansas in a bowl game next year hes still gonna automatically root for michigan

To be clear, I was completely unable to even think about rooting for Michigan under Lloyd Carr, even against Ohio State, unless their winning palpably helped the Nittany Lions.

That said, Lloyd "can I have two more seconds?" Carr is toast, and I really hate all the hype around Tim Tebow, so I found myself pulling for Michigan.

I really hope to again get to the point that I root against Michigan automatically, but like I said, Penn State has to actually win a game against them once in a while for it to even matter.

no one cares

its just stupid to automatically root a certain way in an individual game strictly because of a larger affiliation

Was I the only one who expected that? In my bowl pickem league 73% picked Virginia Tech. Almost 3/4 for VaTech, why? Kansas is very good and VT's QBs are god awful.

But dude, VT was playing for their whole school and carrying the weight and the spirits of the school single handedly on their shoulders!

I watched the pre-game bullshtein and promptly turned the game off. I hate all of that forced inspirational crap.

That seems to run high in the Virginia/Maryland area.
