most definitely.  but at the same time, the more pitches you throw, the more likely you are to make a mistake like in the ethier ab.  it's also more pitches that the batter sees and gives him a better shot at seeing your tendencies in certain counts, get a better feel for the movement and velocity, etc, etc.  and even if it doesn't pay off that particular at bat, i think it gives the hitter an edge for the next ab.  luckily russell martin is not very good and it probably wouldn't help him any if ruiz actually told what pitches were coming.
