Didn't Pedro say the other day that he wouldn't mind being in the pen?

if pedro's ok with going to the pen then that seems like an ideal situation for him.  he's not going to give you more than a few good innings anyway, why not bring him in for middle relief.  and then he's there as a backup starter for when moyer breaks his hip.

LOL I think Marcus Hayes had a crush on Halladay. He's talking about how great the prospects were that were traded away.

How in the farg does a pitch hit you between the eyes? That's farging awesome.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

QB Eagles

This trade rules. farg the Jays, the Phils got the reigning AL Cy Young winner for a song.

Cliff Lee has gone at least 6 innings giving up 3 or less runs in 15 of his last 18 starts.

Think about this...

Hamels:  Reigning World Series MVP

Cliff Lee:  Reigning A.L. Cy Young Award Winner

Joe Blanton: Has pitched basically lights out the last two months.

Jay Z. Happ:  Was undefeated until his last start.  ERA under 3.00.

Jamie Moyer:  Approaching 260 wins.  Still capable of occasionally pitching a gem, although he'd be the first to go if push came to shove.

That is a formidable rotation, boys and girls.  Plus they'll have a certain Hall of Famer ready to step in soon plus the wife-beater will be back in August.  Oh, and their bullpen guys will all be back by then too.

The BIGSTUD

The only downside to this move is that it takes attention away from the great and busy offseason the Sixers have been having.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

freak year

The same could have been said about Halladay at Lee's point in his career.

Through first 8 seasons (I calculated these quickly, so there could be a mistake or two):

Roy Halladay
ERA 3.71
W-L% .647
IP 1116.1
SO 810
BB 299

Cliff Lee (8th season still in progress)
ERA 4.02
W-L% .634
IP 1117.0
SO 826
BB 322

Halladay is definitely a better addition, but considering that the Phillies gave up 'Knapp & Crap' instead of touching Happ, Drabek, Taylor, Brown, and still got a great SP, I think this is a defensible move. They'll have the ammo to make another big move or two next year too, if they want to.

From Gammons:

"This next Indians generation will be built around Sizemore, Cabrera, Weglarz, LaPorta, Carlos Santana, Shin-Soo Choo, et al. When you are the Phillies, Yankees or Red Sox, you think about next year. When you're Cleveland or Tampa, you think, "next window." "

How sweet is it to be mentioned in a sentence like that?
