they have no number two pitcher...not a weak bottom of the rotation...NO NUMBER TWO...that is inexcusable for a team that is hoping to win the WS

this isn't debatable right now.

They won the World Series with no true #1 starter and definitely no #2.  Guys got hot at the right time - specifically Hamels and Blanton.  Hamels said that he feels good after yesterday's start and that he's beginning to figure some things out again.  The fat guy is just about healthy, relegating Kendrick to hell.  Lidge can't be any worse than Madson, right?  Jimmy will be back soonish, right?

The shiny happy people side of me says that the team will be "fine."

EDIT: Removed the completely irrelevant quote from smeags.

he was actually one of them guys pitching decently, but i guess the he was the only one with options so its the obvious choice

i dont want to say their season is riding on lidge being effective, but it almost is. at this point is a forgone conclusion that they need to go out and get a starter at the deadline, considering blanton, happ and moyer are more or less bottom of the rotation pitchers and since hamels is quickly becoming one of the most detestable philly athletes of all time.

rube doesnt really have the prospects, or the will to trade what he has, to get a closer AND a starter, and maybe a right handed hitting left fielder since francisco is just horrendous, ibanez is cooked, and guys like dobbs and gload are platoon players at best.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

ice grillin you

so they traded lee because he needed prospects to trade for a starter at this years deadline?

More likely a closer at this years deadline.

They can get by with the starters they have, the back of the bull pen needs to be completely overhauled.
