While Geoff is worse, I wouldn't say it's by far. In order:

1. Geoff
1B. Jay
2. Jef

Normal person: "Hey Jeff, how are you?"

Jef: "It's Jef, with one f"

Normal person: "farg off"

The best rapper ever to spit notwithstanding, I've never, ever, seen the name spelled "Jef."

So it gets my vote for worst spelling.

Geoff is just a shortened version of Geoffrey, and old, old Anglo-Norman name.  It's by far the better spelling because it is the closest to the original name and new, hip things are universally awful in names.

End thread.

I just saw this thread. So I'm posting at this late date to say that I don't care.
