Ring around the rosie?

This game is dreadful. How can a team like KC be so good and so goddamn awful to watch?
Also - my gal pal is in Jacksonville for the game tonight. She's not a fan and she just texted me that it's already ugly with drunken redneck north Florida Gator trash. LOL... you broke it, you bought it, Sis!
Broncos have received permission to talk to Sean Payton
Another wasted possession by JAX
Lawrence not bathing himself in glory here. Granted Tenny is a scrappy bunch with a good DL but still.
McVay reportedly on the outs too in LA
Which surprises me a bit
Dougie P's defense won in spite of Trevor Lawrence.
Lovie Smith has been fired
No shock. Love that he won the game and farged the Texans
Always seems a bit douchey to not wait until Black Monday to fire a guy, especially one with a long history as a coach like Lovie.
That's Cal McNair for you.
Texans true to their State form: no class at all.
Diontae Johnson had 86 catches and 0 TDs
Pretty hard to do
Last time the Pats won a playoff game?
The SB against the Rams.
Hadn't thought about their little drought but that puts a little stain on The Patriot Way and Belichick
Nah. They also had a three year period without a playoff game win after the first Giants SB loss, and that was with players like Brady, Moss, and Gronk playing for them. The current team is comparatively talentless.
Current drought is still better than half the league. Also that year is the last time the Eagles won a playoff game.
To no one's surprise Kingsbury has been fired.
man there are some real dumpster fires out there
j's texans on the 4th coach in 4 years as tommy boy acts like a maniac
arizona extends their crappy coach and gm until 2027 then immediately fires one while the other self destructs to the point where he cant do the job anymore
denver trying to trade for sean payton with a washed up qb and no picks
As rough as the Texans are, Denver and Cleveland have to rank as the two worst disasters right now because of their QB situations. Someone who takes over the Texans, Colts, etc has the ability to start building more or less at the ground level.
He won't win coach of the year (should be Shanahan imho) but man am I impressed that Tomlin kept his winning season streak going with a team that talentless, in a non-joke division. Fell one tiebreaker short of making the playoffs.
There is a report out there that says titty baby Kyler Murray will have input on the new head coach
laughable
maybe its me but i dont see a problem with your franchise qb having input on his next head coach
What if your franchise qb is Kyler Murray?
Quote from: Diomedes on January 09, 2023, 05:29:14 PM
What if your franchise qb is Kyler Murray?
well thats a different argument....you can trade or cut him ala wentz...but if your plan is to build around and with him then he should have input on something as important as a head coach
They don't have a GM either so they don't have a plan.
even more reason for him to have some input...even if you dont listen to it...but to just completely cut your qb out of it who you just caked off long term is silly...unless like i said hes not a part of your future
they should hire his preferred gm and coach then trade him and draft someone else
Or just let him be the GM and HC and QB
isnt keim coming back at some point? i thought he was bidwells bff
I think this is a soft exit for him. I think he's had some booze issues.
The Keim news came shortly after the Kingsbury news. Seems like a clown-show over there. As far as Murray having input, I mean...maybe pretend to care what he thinks, but nothing about his judgement to this point seems on-point.
The NFL and Troy Vincent look like shtein here.
https://twitter.com/mysportsupdate/status/1612655099767136258 46&t=aoHqzsG6_-2AmSlvqGGikw
the nfl has looked like garbage on a daily basis for at least 15 years and it has only got worse since trump....its truly the maga league
i will pile on the shield when needed but that story was basically nothing...dude collapsed on the field and it was utter mayhem. SOP after a long break is 5 minute warm up, it was quickly relayed on the field that this was not standard, so they discussed options for a while, got feedback and called it.
calling a game is a monumental decision that cant just made in a millisecond.

That's my read of it. "Focusing on health".
seems like mcvay is done...which is remarkable because all the tv networks just filled their spots
i wonder if this is going to be a break and he comes back to the rams in a few years or nbc throws jason garrett away, puts mcvay on pregame and keeps him on ice until collinsworth retires
The year off thing really doesn't hurt someone like McVay
Garrett is terrible.
I find it laughable that Coach Boy Wonder is quitting now that the team has no picks and has cap trouble on the horizon.
Weak sauce
The QB carousel this off-season should be interesting.
Seems like Lamar Jackson and the Ravens are headed for divorce. I could see a franchise tag and trade. Where does he land? Dolphins because they can't trust Tua to stay healthy? Jets because they throw the towel in on Wilson? Does Indy make a play? Maybe the Saints get something for Payton and use that in trade.
QB Needy Teams
Giants - depends on what they do with Jones but I expect him to be back
Commies - AO1 has torpedoed another teams QB depth chart
Saints - can't run that trifecta of Jameis, Dalton and Taysom out there again
Bucs - depends on what Brady does
Panthers - Darnold is a backup
Falcons - they complete the sweep of the entire division needing a QB
Rams - is Stafford coming back?
Jets - assuming Joe D and Saleh feel the heat to get better fast
Dolphins - Tua can't be counted on
Ravens - assuming Lamar is gone
Titans - new GM coming in; dump Tannehill and Willis?
Texans - they're drafting one
Colts - Do they trade up for one? Or go stop gap again (Carr)?
Raiders - Stidham ain't it. I think David wants Brady
That's almost half the league with QB uncertainty.
Either Tua is never allowed to play again to protect the NFL, or he wins comeback player of the year next season. It could go either way.

Eagles could trade for him in the offseason as a backup then bring him halftime at the superbowl to replace Hurts
stafford is back and theres no way lamar leaves bmore...theyll franchise him in the least
youre probably looking at 4 or 5 1st round qbs that will be immediate starters, carr goes somewhere, that leaves 4/5 teams DOA. ya boy gardner minshew gonna have some options
I feel like I'm living in some alternate goddamn universe when I log on and read people actually believing that Damar Hamlin is dead from the vaccine and they used a body double for him at the game on Sunday.
Like are you shteintin me?
Is there a way to ship these yahoos off to some remote island?
They're already there, preparing their next takeover. When Damar Double actually plays his next NFL down, that will be the signal.

QuoteAs it turns out, the argument that Damar Hamlin secretly died and was replaced by a double on Sunday wasn't the craziest shtein I heard today. (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/25/aaron-rodgers-links-his-current-villain-status-to-big-pharma/)
Thanks to Jimmy Traina of SI.com, who listened to Tuesday's musings from Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers so that others (like me) wouldn't have to, Rodgers suggested at one point that the negative coverage he has received in recent months flows directly from Big Pharma.

Surprised by that.
Equally surprised that the Jets hired that loser Hackett to be their OC
And that Jimmy Pills is thinking of keeping Saturday on as HC
looks like ryans to houston is done....would be the most texans thing to hire the best coach theyve ever had then fire him for josh mccown
Hopefully Demeco can win despite working for Caserio and McNair. Would be nice to send him off to begin draft prep next week after his defense gets sliced up by Jalen
Dallas with a news drop during the championship weekend of not bringing back Kellen Moore and Mike McCarthy will now call plays
That makes sense. I can't imagine Kellen Moore continuing to come up with even more creative ways to choke away playoff games. Better to move over and let a real pro take over.
Kellen Moore new chargers OC
Vic Fangio new dolphins dc
Welcome to the pro bowl Tyler Huntley. Lol
The fact Huntley is a Pro Bowler is the exact reason why that thing is a sham.
Broncos have traded for Sean Payton.
1st rounder in this draft and next years 2nd rounder.
They also get NO's 2024 3rd
Also...Texans hired DeMeco
This leaves the Cards and Colts as possible Steichen landing spots. Colts seem likely.
Knowing Irsay he'll hire some rando - or Saturday.

Brady has retired
(https://media2.giphy.com/media/fsnzYr1pgvAQM/giphy.gif)
wtf? Brady has more career wins than the ravens?
They've only been around three more seasons than he has. He had to average two more wins a year than Baltimore to beat them out.
If they'd been allowed to keep the Browns history it might be up to something crazy like four, four and a half.
the ravens played 81 games and won a SB before brady ever started a game and in the next 22 seasons they had 10 double digit win seasons and four under .500 seasons not to mention brady missed a season with a blown knee
just an astounding stat
Just wait until you see how he compares to the actual Browns.
well yes what makes it incredible is that the ravens were one of the most winningest franchises in the nfl during bradys time (with a 5 season head start)
Also incredible is that he never took a snap where his team was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

I approve this message.
Nah. To me a HOFer is someone you dread your guys going up against. Never felt that way about him. The argument for him boils down to yards, which is a pure function of his longevity as a return man. Not enough for me.
My personal '23 picks would be Joe Thomas, Dwight Freeney, Zach Thomas, Darrelle Revis. Probably in that order (only because of Revis' abbreviated career). The eligible finalist W guys (Ware, Willis, Wayne) are probably all deserving too but not ahead of those.

Longevity aught to count, if a short career counts against someone. It's not like the backup quarterback position, they don't let you hang around that long being kinda okay at it.

i think hes a borderline HOF'er cause im not a huge return specialist HOF guy but if you believe in that hes a lock....arguably the best return guy ever...and dont get it twisted he was absolutely feared for more than a decade...led the nfl in return yards the year he won a ring and is second all time in total yards
"Aaron Rodgers will undertake four-day 'darkness retreat' to consider NFL career "
If he's really legit about this I assume he'll need to do it in Cleveland to really soak up those ancient vibes and all that history.
That's just what is required to prep to be the Jets QB
im sure dr. rodgers will emerge from his retreat with the clear understanding that he needs to play another year so he doesnt wind up in the same HOF class as brady and watt
And that's when Brady unretires again.
Rodgers is just farging insufferable.
Carr released. Feeling he winds up with Washington.
If anyone shells out serious money for him, they're painfully dumb. Between the UFAs, guys available for trade, and draft, there's probably at least 20 QBs available who can give you at least 85% of a 32 year old Derek Carr. So yeah, sounds like Washington.

the owners are going to vote on flexing TNF games
there is already going to be MNF flexing so amazon would now get the 6th best game on the card. think something like minnesota/detroit or baltimore/pittsburgh getting moved, if this actually happens. i cant imagine coaches and nflpa are going to be feeling this.
How does that even work on such a short week? Dumb as shtein
it would be announced 15 days out just like all other flexes. theyd have to adjust the rule limiting teams to just 1 sunday-thursday game gap, as well.
the idea is to get out of stinkbomb tnf games late in the year and replace with either a halfway decent game or one with at least 1 superstar team/qb because thats all that would be available to them.
think back to last year, week 14. snf was a bad game. mnf was meh. tnf stunk. snf got the best available game - mia/lac. cbs and fox kept their 3 best games. the remaining lot was: pit/bal, min/det, car/sea, hou/dal. tnf would get 1 of those games.
Nothing is ever going to salvage those Thursday games. Worst money grab in NFL history and that's saying something. Hated it when they introduced it, and still hate it.

Mahomes' contract is set up in such a way that he could start sucking next year and still make insane money into the 2030s, or maintain his dominance and sign the biggest contract ever in 2027.
Hurts led his team to the SB and performed great in it. Rodgers looked washed in 2019 and then had two MVP seasons. Not immediately obvious that he will suck next year with receivers. Murray and Watson are the insults here. Daniel Jones is the comic relief.
im not saying its going to happen but would anyone other than jalen hurts' family be shocked if daniel jones outplayed hurts this year

Joe Douglas must be under unbelievable pressure in New Jersey to pull off that idiotic trade.
He had a sensational draft last year, but I'm not sure how a 700 year-old Aaron Rodgers gets them to the Super Bowl. Just reeks of desperation.
Had to do it to hope to catch lightning in a bottle with the waning career of Rodgers

all signs point this, but they have a ton of skill position talent and his hand picked OC. no reason for it to fail other than dr. rodgers being super washed
the jets had to do something, though. their team is ready to roll but they had no playable qbs. there was no other move to make other than this.

Ruggs will plead guilty to charges that put him in jail for three to ten years, if the court accepts the deal.
Killed a woman, will in all likelihood walk free before he's what, 30 years old?
I wasn't in court, don't know all the extenuating circumstances, like his atrocious upgringing, or the free drinks they were pouring for him...
Five years incacerated on one scale, dead woman on the other.....Justice?
In a way it's kind of a weird paradox. If Ruggs is some totally heartless or psychophatic type then 5 years seems light. But if he is a normal everyday kind of person, and he had to sit by the side of the road and watch the the car he hit incinerate with someone inside, that likely haunts him the rest of his life, one that was filled with promise and now ruined, and that counts for decades of time in its own way. Unfortunately one can't just see inside a defendant and mete out justice accordingly.
Big yikes - that accusation cost him his job.

Hard pass on the rapist idiot punter.
So we're gonna just keep calling this guy a rapist?
I def don't think that is warranted.
Did he not have sex with a drunk minor?
My understanding is he did, prior to the alleged gang rape.
He was 21.
Am I mistaken?
QuoteWitness interviews from the party, including two of the girl's own friends whom she arrived with, said that she didn't appear to be drunk at the time. Other witnesses said the girl was telling people she was 18.
"A witness who was in the house gave a statement saying that at — at least one point in the party, that you made a statement telling people at the party you were 18," Amador explained to the accuser. "Another witness at the party, a different one, says that they specifically heard you say you were 18 ..."
If we are defining the behavior described in that 200 page document as rape (not checking the id of a girl at a party who claims to be above the age of consent, consents to sex acts, and is not visibly drunk), I suspect a majority of the players in the NFL are rapists. Clearly the district attorney did not feel that it could successfully charge him (or anyone else she was with that night) with rape, statutory or otherwise.
She wouldn't even be a minor in 40 states. Using the same word to describe a 17 year old girl and a college kid having sex at a party as actual violent sexual assault is an abuse of the English language, and minimizes the vast chasm between that behavior and real sexual violence. Do I think the people at the party were selfish and irresponsible in some moral sense? Quite possibly. Do I condone it? No. But labeling someone a rapist is intended to ruin someone's life by purposely evoking the mental image of a far more brutal offense. I don't go for that here. If I was 21 and drunk in that situation, might I have done some of the things described in there? I don't know, and I was an abnormally good kid.
If the other side presents equally powerful evidence as what the district attorney's office has provided, I'm open to changing my opinion of whether this man is a rapist.
Fair and well argued. I retract "rapist."
Behaving no worse than most other jocks is hardly an endorsement of character, however, and I wouldn't put my billion dollar brand on this guy if it were my decision. He's demonstrated poor enough judgement already to make me look elsewhere.
There's clearly deeper moral problems that lead to people having emotionally harmful sexual encounters, and there's a systemic piece of it having to do with the culture of these sports programs and what's considered acceptable, but I can't hang that around this one dumb kid's head.
If he's out there jizzing on dozens of women clearly against their will like Deshaun, crucify him.
Eagles have this issue right now with Josh Sills, who appears to be on the scumbag rapist side of the ledger based on the limited evidence presented thus far. And in his case, he has been indicted, so the authorities think there's something there too.

in what is solely a craven cash grab, the nfl is giving an exclusive playoff game to PEACOCK
so yes. the late saturday wild card game will air behind a paywall on an app nobody has. its costing over $100 mil for comcast, which is basically like you making a terrible decision at work to add $20 to your bank account. but your bank accounts has like 7 zeroes.
this wont happen every year, cbs and fox are contractually obligated to get 2 wc games some years, but sheesh. id guess the least appealing game of the weekend goes here, something like jags/chargers again.
So stupid.
its functionally just stupid too because these apps (even netflix) have an enormous churn, so even if they get a lot of sign ups for the game, they wont keep a bulk of those people.
its just a desperate corporation clinging to relevancy and extraordinarily greedy billionaires grabbing a few extra shekels. late stage capitalism.
Jesus H. Christ! Really? I just went off to junior about MLB.TV and their bullshtein blackout rules. I pay my $200 or whatever to watch the Phillies and those pricks black out west coast games here (even when Giants are in Philly). I've had friends write nasty letters to these fargs saying prorate my bill as I got hosed on Apple TV and Hulu and blackouts. Greedy fargs!
The insane thing is that even if I shelled out the 300+ bucks or whatever for the Ticket, I still wouldn't be able to use it to watch more than half of the Eagles games. Not gonna happen anytime soon but they gotta fix that shtein. Think that's where the talks with Apple hit a roadblock.
If you really want one stop for Birds games for a normal fee, the options are:
Canadian DAZN + VPN
Euro GamePass + VPN
the high seas of the Internet
sunday ticket is always designed to be a premium product...its never going to be a one stop shop for nfl games. they get $2b per year from each network, and those networks want you on their station not an app. its supplemental and for the mega fan/gambling addicts.
that was the hiccup with apple, though. youtube *may* add by week or by game options but not until they get some legit consumer data.
by all accounts, amazon was getting less than 10 mil for its games. peacock has so many fewer subscribers, id be stunned if the playoff game got half that.
This will not effect most viewers, who pirate the games regardless.
if you feel the need to pirate a chargers jags wild card game you have much bigger problems than what channels nfl games are currently being shown on

NFL loves stepping on their own dicks.
its the same rule as college...kickoffs are pretty antiquated and are barely a part of the game anymore. they cause concussions at a disproportionate rate to regular plays. i get it.

whats just monstrously hypocritical is they take steps like this for safety then give teams 2 thursday games (have thursday games to begin with). greeeeeeeeed
Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on May 23, 2023, 12:52:54 PMNFL loves stepping on their own dicks.
No, they love stepping on the fans' dicks. It would be stepping on their own if they eliminated the kickoff entirely, which would generate fewer opportunities for ads.
Fair.
And yes the Thursday thing sucks. But people will piss and moan and they'll lose zero viewers or fans bc of it

not that the league cares about a misleading headline but the TNF flex thing is a breaks glass in case of emergency thing for amazon. it would be like if rodgers tears his acl and the jets are 3-9 they can get out of that game.

I noticed a couple headlines on PFT today:
Ravens to hold 18 practices open the public.
Dophins to hold 9 practices open to the public.
Pretty big difference between those two programs.
Got me wondering: which fan base has the most and which the least opportunity to attend a practice? Anyone know?
Eagles are probably the least, since they have one.
For as good of an owner as Lurie is that's one of his few missteps
Lehigh was fantastic
It's bullshtein to not have open practices
the argument is they cant get anything accomplished, really, at the linc for the open practice so its a waste of time. and with limited practice time they dont want to burn more than one session on what is essentially a PR thing.
practicing at the novacare is so much better for them than lehigh since they have all their fancy tools there. i think a good middle ground would be going back to widener or something close to philly so people can see them but they can still run meetings and physio out of the novacare.

i dont care where they practice i got my fill of lehigh and dont need to go back nor do i need an open practice anywhere but the eagles were pretty damn successful during their time training in lehigh...the 30-40 mile difference widener and lehigh would equal exactly zero change in their wins and losses
lehigh was getting really dilapidated by the end...if lurie wouldve invested in it, they couldve stayed there. as it stands now, that place is really behind and probably wouldnt help with any injury recovery. so yeah it mightve had an effect on the on field results.
the issue with the novacare is its built in the middle of packer park and there is no way to host big crowds there. people live across the street from it - republicans, but people still. if they ever build a new one, im sure they'll build it further out in the burbs or something and have plenty of space for fans to come and watch guys play 2 hand touch or whatever the hell they do now.

Seattle could challenge SF
It hinges on Geno but that WR trio they have is tough.
I said it during the draft but it's worth repeating - I hate that Dallas drafted Deuce Vaughn. He was one of my favorite college players to watch.
Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on August 19, 2023, 11:48:48 PMSeattle could challenge SF

>50% odds Geno turns back into a pumpkin. Much as I hate to say it there's a 30% chance or so of it happening with Hurts and he has way more going for him than Geno.
Possible for sure.
They also have nice RB depth
Trey Lance failed to beat out Sam Darnold for the backup QB role in SF. Bust who can't even beat out another bust and a Mr. Irrelevant.
Teflon John Lynch will survive it too.
Everyone is still on the Niners wagon too. Can't wait for them to lose again so Deebo can bust the Kleenex out again
Will Lance become part of the QB Factory?
Or who takes a shot on him?
McCarthy in Dallas?
McVeigh in LA?
Remember they traded a ton to go up and get him, so if he demonstrates a shred of talent anywhere else it'll look awful for them. He must really suck.
If Purdy ends up being who they thought they were getting with Lance it all works out for them though.
I was reading some of Lance's detractors leading up to the draft and they called it. Athletic but inaccurate and the level of competition was suspect (duh). The thought was Shanahan would be able to make him due to the offense. So yeah it looks real bad for Lance that he cannot succeed there.
Who knows with Purdy. Is he some scrappy underdog who is only good bc of Shanahan? Or does he have real talent that translates to the NFL beyond SF? I see him as a system guy and will probably fall back down a bit.
Buffalo and Cincy are also spots I could see him landing as a resurrection project.
i dont think lance can be traded...who is taking that contract? so either they agree to part ways and he can either get into a better qb room (like buffalo) or try and find a place to play (tampa)...or he takes his $$ shuts up and holds a clipboard
id agree purdy is more of a system guy, hes able to hit quick reads and simple throws. an average talent that is right for that spot. i hope he tears his ucl again.
Stop using room to describe position groups
Thanks!
Also I could see Denver taking him on.
The Eagles have 4 decent RBs well suited to their roles and not a ton of cap space, so they don't have the room for Jonathan Taylor.
Don't Colts want a ton for him?
Trey Lance to Dallas for a 4th
Cool.

Howie...he's better than Siposs. Not by a lot, but he's better. And he's not Siposs, which isn't nothing just on its own.
I expect Howie to sign any available punter who is more than a marginal improvement on Siposs. There may not be anyone who meets that criteria though. Marginal improvement probably not worth a change since Siposs has the experience holding for Elliot.
Yeah yeah, enough with your reason. I want blood.
I'm with you. Siposs sucks. Possibly cost them the Super Bowl. Special teams as a whole will likely be terrible this year outside of the kicker. On paper they are worse personnel wise than last year, same bad coach too.
Yep. It's majorly annoying that they didn't improve there.

its supposedly for just this season to give ABC a boost during the writers strike when there is severely limited content available. it kind of hurts espn's argument for existing - they have 3 exclusive nfl games now and nfl games drive everything (notice how their dispute with spectrum got resolved hours before last week's nfl game and after 2 weeks of CFB)
for this year, it's a win for non cable viewers like my man hakkan. you get to see like 13/14 extra games now
Yeah at least they solved it.

Bears DC abruptly resigned under somewhat mysterious circumstances. Both the team and the coach managed to get through the whole day without divulging anything, amid a barrage of questioning from press and fans.
Pretty wild week in the NFL community with whatever this is, Sergio Brown probably killing his mom and fleeing the country, Chandler Jones having some kind of mental break, and the Patriots fan dying after a getting in a fistfight at the game.
The world is going to shtein.
Some people started rumors the fbi or cops raided the Bears DC's home and office but it was unfounded.

I expect WIP callers to blow what some 24 year-old QB says out of proportion. I guess Chicago has the same issue. Also he was right anyway, the Bears coaching farging sucks. Fields sucks though too. Tire fire of an organization.
Totally agreed.
Fields is not good. And I said when they hired him Eberflus made no sense
the bears are about to get a top 5 pick, new qb, decent haul for fields and hire a brand new coach. not a bad place to be if you didnt have stomach through this dreadful season.
they should be all over the lions oc
A haul for Fields?
From whom?
theyll get something for him, maybe a 2 and a conditional? more than wentz. hes got 2 years left on his rookie deal.
rams, falcons, bucs, wash, jets, steelers, raiders, broncos are all gonna be looking for long term solutions, if not more teams, at qb and theres only so many that can get a top 5 pick.
The Bears are in this position roughly every four years. It is not a good place to be. Poles will still be there next year, but more worryingly so will whatever longterm institutional rot that keeps leading to the hiring of these losers.
When they leave that bastichized, undead version of Solider Field and move to Arlington Heights, maybe that will inject some life into the franchise. Or maybe it will require a McCaskey younger than 65 taking the reins.
im not sure if moving to a money drain in the suburbs is going to help them. the bengals have the same cheap idiot owner theyve always had, but now they fell ass backward into joe burrow and jamarr chase, they got a semi-competent coach and its on.

If I'm Minnesota I'd have Dobbs in purple by Wednesday. Someone needs to be a 7 seed in the NFC and it could be theirs for the taking if they even have the 27th best starting QB.
Agreed. He's serviceable.
Bears traded a 2nd for Montez Sweat.
If they don't sign him to an extension asap they're dumber than I thought. He's a FA after the season.

Vikings have traded for Dobbs.
They also shipped Ezra Cleveland to Doug in JAX
Glazer says Niners have landed Chase Young
Josh Harris really cleaning out the closet today.
Niners gave up a 3rd for Young
That SF DLine is stout.
But why
The Week 10 Sunday Night Football game between the Jets and Raiders was not flexed out of before today's deadline. So on Nov. 12, it'll be Jets at Raiders, 8:20 pm, as scheduled.
there is no better option, this one wasnt much of a debate
Davis shteincanned both McDaniels and Ziegler last night.
Raiders are a mess.
Speaking of messes, the Bears fired their second coach of the season for non-football reasons.
QuoteChicago Bears running backs coach David Walker was fired Tuesday over his behavior in the workplace, a source confirmed to ESPN.
...
A source told ESPN that Walker had previously been reprimanded by Bears HR for his workplace behavior and that a second such instance led to his firing.
jimmy g got paid like $25m to move to vegas, work 6 weeks and now he is handsome, even richer than before and has zero responsibilities. this is the life.
Its crazy to see how some teams can never get out of the abyss of suck.
Raiders and Bears fall into that category.

I kinda still feel like Sam Bradford got paid more to do less work (and lower quality work) than Jimmy G. He's the benchmark.
Kevin Kolb is presumably still pretty happy with his take.

chase daniel is the real OG
Kolb can't remember his name half the time. Sammy Sleeves has no working joints left. I'm not sure what the lifetime of suffering is worth to each of them, but I'll go out on a limb and say most people would take the 25 mil and noticeably better health.
More Art Smith Awfulness
Bijan has one carry inside the five yard line all season long
what are your names in the bullet pool. mine starts with Matty. I was up with the leaders for most of the season until the last 2 weeks - now I'm 6 games out in 26th place. still in the running to get up there I guess but looking less likely.
I'm 1st out of 275+ in my other pick em pool also.
Saved By The Hook is mine
I'm tied for 5th now I believe. It's crazy bc I've been on a run and went 3-1 again but lost two spots.
Hopefully I can keep it going.
is this the pool igy sends me an invite to each year, but I'm too chicken/poor to try it?
Lol probably - The Silver Bullet
Ha yeah, this is my first year playing also.
INDIANAPOLIS -- In a stunning move, Colts All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard was waived by the team Tuesday, a decision prompted by his declining performance after recent injuries.
Leonard, who returned to the lineup this season after two back surgeries in 2022 to correct nerve issues, was getting inconsistent playing time as he tried to play his way into form. His uneven performance and ongoing recovery prompted coaches to remove him from the lineup on third downs and had him, at times, splitting earlier snaps with E.J. Speed -- decisions that did not sit well with Leonard.
Scrap heap LB?
Howie is on it.
Irsay, on his arrest in '14
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jim-irsay-blames-his-2014-arrest-on-police-prejudice-against-white-billionaires
Quote"I am prejudiced against because I'm a rich, white billionaire," Irsay told Andrea Kremer on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. "If I'm just the average guy down the block, they're not pulling me in, of course not."
Asked by Kremer how he thinks it sounds for a white billionaire to claim that he's a victim of prejudice, Irsay stood by his comment.
"I don't care what it sounds like. It's the truth," Irsay said. "You know, Andrea, I could give a damn what people think how anything sounds or sounds like. The truth is the truth and I know the truth."
Hooo-boy. Jim might do well to stfu.
What a clown.
Yeah he's so oppressed. Give me a break, Jim.
Hahaha. Why rich white iceholes are literally the worst thing in the universe.
Reich has been fired.
That owner is going to find it hard to get a top coach there bc he's trigger happy on firing. A
Bring him back as O.C., please
Duce was whacked too.
frank completely fell off a cliff after that jags game
did great with luck, survived the year he up and quit, made the playoffs with washed up rivers, nearly made it with god awful wentz...then they lose that game and since that point hes been putrid. bryce young cant play, but thats not an excuse - he was bad
the quote he gave the observer made it seem like hes done
Yeah he's collecting two checks for being fired and he's 62. I'd probably retire as well.
I wonder where Duce ends up? And what were the circumstances to his Detroit departure. He was assistant HC there too
Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on November 27, 2023, 02:03:45 PMDuce was whacked too.
And McCown. Reich staffed the whole joint up with ex-Eagles.
That owner is a jackass. Firing a guy after three months on the job is just ridiculous. Give the guy a chance to at least establish a foothold.
Or not.
And no thanks to Reich as OC.
McDermott is losing it. Literal wtf here

Who gets whacked tomorrow?
Rivera
Eberflus
Dennis Allen
Art Smith
Belichick
If those five go then there will be eight openings (CAR, LAC and LV).
Coaches of playoff teams who could be jettisoned: Bowles, McCarthy, Sirianni
I think Eberflus saved his ass over the last couple of months. I'm not a huge Dennis Allen fan, but the coaching isn't what's holding that team back. I gripe about Sirianni and we know Lurie is willing to whack coaches with winning records if he doesn't like what he sees, but ultimately I think all the playoff coaches are safe.
BB might come down to whether he's willing to give up GM duties.
Riverboat was marked for scuttling months ago. And Arthur Smith will probably be working for FedEx by Tuesday. He should be, anyway. He's farging terrible.
gone: rivera, BB, art smith
on the line, could be traded: vrabel
safe: allen, bowles, eberflus, pierce
playoff results to determine: sirianni, mccarthy
a loss to GB probably sinks Big Mike. 2nd round loss, eh, we'll see.
we know sirianni's deal
vrabel i think is a really good coach stuck with an aging, terrible roster. losing grates on everyone regardless of circumstance. and its not gonna get any better there.
The case for Pierce not being safe would be if that weird haircut guy thinks he can snag a name like Harbaugh or Belichick.
The players ALWAYS say they love the interim guy and hope he comes back, but this time I think they might mean it.
Smith has already been fired.
Get?
Vrabel leaving is intriguing.
As will be where Harbaugh ends up - should he leap back. The Chargers seem to be the ones linked most heavily but Spanos is a cheap ass.
I thought Smith was a bad coach but it feels unprofessional to carry a guy as your leader the whole year and then shteincan him before Sunday is over, like you couldn't wait until the start of business Monday to rid yourself of him. Seems performative to do that.
Right after the Saints players decided to drag their nuts over him with the victory formation TD too.
Wink Martindale has resigned as Giants DC - there had been some rumors of him and Daboll not getting along.
Come on down to Philly, sir.
That crossed my mind as well. Seth would cream himself. But I'm guessing Jeff/Howie are still fixated on the Vic Fangio bend and break approach, and they'd have to shift away from an odd man front base.
They should be embracing the break your face aggressive defense ala Buddy, Bud Carson and Jim Johnson.
Doug snuffed out Caldwell and his defensive staff
Can't really think of anyone off the top of my head who wouldn't be a step up for the Birds in the DC job. I'd be open to Juan Castillo at this point.
lil guy standing on the sideline reading a TV Guide and casually calling plays would be a step up
Since Wink is under contract still with the Giants through 2024 they could block him from taking another DC job.

Vrabel the third coach fired. He is likely to be a HC somewhere in the 2024 season.
Yeah I don't get that firing. They really think they'll find better?
not about better, its about placating the trust fund baby owner's ego
The vibes around the Eagles are bad after six weeks of suck. The Titans have sucked for two years, so imagine that. Even if from the outside it doesn't look like Vrabel's fault, the offense has been putrid and they want an offensively minded coach to set things right. Not defending the move, because I think Vrabel is an above average coach. Just explaining it.
Could see him in ATL or NE.
he makes sense for NE...i think harbaugh is LAC. eagles need to lose and lose quickly so they can get on ben johnson
Pete Carroll was fired. [The press release is putting it more mildly, but earlier this week he had said he would be back for next season.]
Yeah now he's an advisor to the team.
Whatever that is. Paid to hang around but stay out of the way.
Belichick is now out.
Gonna pencil Vrabel in for that job.
Belichick getting the parachute was expected but it's still a shocker. 24 years in one spot is a crazy achievement.
I can't stand the guy but you can't argue with his performance.
He's the greatest coach of all time. Any statements to the contrary are really uninformed revisionist history.
Bit of an icehole though.
Tom Brady winning a ring without him, and him floundering without Brady, certainly leaves room for argument in his legacy.
His drafts stunk for awhile and he sabotaged himself bc of that.
everyone needs a fresh start at some point...andy needed it, the brady gravy train ran out and BB needs it
atlanta feels like the weirdest place for him to go, unless he just wants power and money. if hes chasing titles more than anything, hello LA
though man, if they really fire sirianni. i mean...lurie gonna want.
Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on January 11, 2024, 07:19:54 PMHis drafts stunk for awhile and he sabotaged himself bc of that.
He was def not the greatest GM of all time
Quote from: QB Eagles on January 11, 2024, 01:32:59 PMGonna pencil Vrabel in for that job.
They reportedly have already decided on Jerrod Mayo.
haven't heard that name in a while.
Seems like there's some chatter than Andy could retire after the season.
Harbaugh took the chargers job
So Mayo to the Pats, Harbaugh to the Chargers, Callahan to the Titans, and Pierce stays on with the Raiders. That leaves the Falcons, Panthers, Seahawks and Commies. Not a super appealing collection of teams.
Raheem Morris to the Falcons, Dave Canales to the Panthers. Commies supposedly leaning heavy toward Ben Johnson. Running out of musical chairs for BB and Vrabel.
BB is done.
72yrs old, not good without Brady, didn't develop Mac Jones and wants to be the end all be all in football ops.
If Fangio wasn't coming I would have taken him as DC. Watching him try to hide his contempt for Sirianni would be worth it by itself.
Don Shula popping champagne in coaches heaven. BB needs 17 wins? Would have taken 3 more years in ATL. He'd go 5-12 and 4-13 and either be out or say F this, all yours Don.
if ben johnson falls to washington you know his interviews mustve been a disaster
Wash with jayden and no snyder gonna be scary as farg
yeah we'll see. Harris and whoever he taps to run the joint plus Jayden ... maybe that turns into something but scary is laughable....the organization is still a mess
philly is a mess wash is finding themselves
So the new owner has a proven track record of turning franchises around and winning championships?
Quote from: General_Failure on January 26, 2024, 09:18:04 AMSo the new owner has a proven track record of turning franchises around and winning championships?
lol
We all know the Sixers failures but had to check Harris's track record with the Devils. He bought the team in 2013, they've only made the playoffs twice and won one round. Theyre apparently still finding themselves too. The commanders should contact them for emotional support
man i the miss the days of wash being a budding power
eagles discourse 2011 is back baby!

I know Wilks had some bad calls this season but who doesn't?
Shanahan is such a little shtein. Saleh and Demeco's last games didn't exactly go great and they got HC jobs.
Wilks' defense holds KC to 25 despite MAGA Bosa not setting the edge on Mahomes run, Greenlaw going down like he was shot by Lee Harvey, McCaffrey fumbling, and many other offensive miscues and he's fired?
Scapegoat. And yeah, Shanny is a weasel, but most of them are at that level.
