The two #1 seeds
Kelce Bowl
2 mvp candidates although let's be honest it's gonna be Mahomes
Andy Reid
Times yours
gimpy mahomes, zero good wide outs, pee brained DC
LETS GO
Beating KC and NE in SBs will be nice.
Can't farging wait.
I just want to say farg Andy Reid and his kids. Nothing good should ever happen to him in life.
Birds open as 1.5 point favorites. I'm shocked
Mahomes/Kelce/Jones...whoever their punter is...4 positions kc is better. That's it
QuoteMahomes with too much time isn't as good as Mahomes when he's pressured and has to make quick decisions. Per Solak, in Mahomes' last 57 games dating back to the start of 2020, he's had eight games when he's had an average of more than 3.0 seconds to throw. (The NFL average is about 2.7 seconds from snap till QB release.) Mahomes is 3-5 in those eight games, including 0-2 against Cincinnati—and, amazingly, 42-7 when he releases the ball faster.
However much time Mahomes has, Birds should go over 80 sacks for the year (inc post season obviously). Insane.
Edit: Also, time for Andy to give us that ring he never did. I'll go with 2 unused time outs that could have been used to put up points.
It genuinely makes me mad that Andy gets a pass for raising and enabling two killer fargups because he's an above average coach.
It ought to make everyone mad. He got his football team; the world got guns in their faces, OD at the trading camp 911 calls, and a maimed child.
I can't decide who was the better family man, him or Dungy.
Dungy at least cared enough about his son to want him dead.
I farging love you lol
McGillin's is charging $150/ticket to watch the Super Bowl this time.

So does Siposs.

Wearing a Mailata jersey and my Eagles Nike's to work tomorrow.
Still debating if I'm going to wear my Shawn Andrews jersey to work on Saturday.
Harold Carmichael 1980 green jersey. Had my white Wilberet Montgomery ready had they worn white.
Been wearing Eagles tshirts every day since NFCCG.

I think the Eagles will win

I think I've fallen for all the "Mahomes will single handedly beat the birds and now that Toney is back watch out and Hurts isn't that good" rhetoric.

Its not rhetoric...eagles can definitely win but probably wont cause one team has possibly the best QB of all time
Fair
But the Eagles have Jalen Hurts
I'm sold on him. As hard as for Mailata, maybe more. I think he is Him.
I know, sad sucker...but wtf. I'm a fan and I'm just a person.
Go birds
Im hoping its cause of the injury but hurts has been brutal since the chicago game
I also believe if he plays even a regular good game they should win
That said no one on earth other than j is taking hurts over mahomes in a late close game.
eagles have the better team

If I'm taking Jalen over Mahomes in a late and close game then you're taking Rick Tocchet over Gretzky.
I was 50/50 on who will win...igy with the reverse mush has me confident now.
Well my Uncle's place has been featured on pretty much every program over the last month at this point, including Access Hollywood and some UK show. Pretty crazy.
I second the somewhat calm feeling. Tbh I think it's because this time around i think the Eagles are clearly the better team and should win. Hurts clearly isn't right with that shoulder (I still think we're gonna find out next week he has a torn labrum that requires surgery or something like that), but high ankle sprains don't just heal in 2-3 weeks. Mahomes is gonna get gimpy the first time he tries to push off that thing. He's the X factor but he's an injured X factor.
Wearing my new Conference Champions shirt and watching the Super Bowl 52 Blu-ray to get in the mood for tomorrow.

All-"female" Super Bowl flyover team to make history
Glad you brought up the Mahome's high ankle sprain. Heard a morning radio talk show hosted by two ex-NFL players, names esape me, but this was two Saturday's ago, day before AFCCG and they both called BS on Mahomes ankle. They said you aren't playing a week after a high ankle sprain. No way. Is he superman or was it never that serious? I have no idea.
Holy farg, they're in the fargin' Super Bowl.
I genuinely expect them to win an unexciting game.
I've been strangely calm all week.
The Eagles should win, as they're the better team on both sides of the ball. Except for Patrick Mahomes. The Eagles can run, they can pass, and they can put pressure on the opposing QB.
Mahomes will get points... but can the Chiefs keep the Eagles at bay? Or will the Eagles chew up the clock with their balanced attack?
The one loss the Eagles had with Hurts under center was because of turnovers. If the Eagles protect the ball, I'm pretty confident they will win. Which is a feeling I cannot remember having very often with this team.
It's the best Eagles team of my life. I'm pretty sure of that. They should win. But it's Pat Mahomes. That's a hell of a test. Eager to see if this team is up to it.
This week was so busy at work I didn't have time to dive into all of the SB coverage that I wanted. And it kinda kept the game on the back burner for me.
Last night the excitement and anxiety started creeping in as we were beginning to party prep. Today it kicked into full blast. House is ready, food is ordered, beer is in the cooler and the bubbly is on ice. It's 2am and I'm struggling to sleep. I can't wait.
Outside of the normal X's and O's stuff we all know, to include the Andy with extra time to prepare stats, I am hopeful that the Eagles defense doesn't have one of their games where tackling is spotty or that Steichen is in one of his play-calling ruts. Either one of those would be less than ideal.
Pachecho is a tough runner. Have to smack him and get him down. And I expect Andy to try to combat the pass rush with short drops, screens, tight splits and misdirection. The Chiefs RT isn't very good so I'm sure Reddick will get chipped like crazy.
Cannot let Mahomes break contain, ankle or not. The Eagles DEs have to be careful about crashing down especially on third downs where Mahomes will break contain and run for a first.
I think DeVonta has a nice game. And I also think the running game continues to do well. In a perfect world the Eagles have a lead so they're able to run that clock down.
I'm going to guess Eagles win 27-17
I always thought the key to the game was if the Eagles are able to shut down Andy's invincible inside shovel passes within the Eagles 10 yard line. Doesn't that determine who will win the World Championship? TJ better stomp on that one.
almost 24 hours away and i'm kinda, sorta getting excited. WTF IS WRONG WITH ME??? WAKE UP DON! WAKE THE farg UP!!
Have to admit after watching the last 5 minutes of Rocky on the Sundance Channel I was hyped. Went downstairs and went all MMA on the dogs.
They gotta harry and beat on Mahomes, and limit Kelce. Reddick is the key.
I have total confidence in Hurts.
If Lane can do his thing, the line will be ok.

Biggest worry is Spags crowding the line and blitzes and how Hurts handles it...hopefully that was Fangio's purpose. Big offensive play early would be huge.
Eagles offense and defense are both pretty simple by NFL standards. They get away with it because their personnel are so good at winning their assignments. KC is way more exotic on both sides of the ball. My worry is that Andy & co. find a way to break what the Eagles do. It's comforting to know the emphasis the Birds put on self-scouting for his game.

Yeah. Wasn't bothered the last two weeks but I'm feeling it now. I remember not particularly enjoying the last one even when amazing things were happening until it was all zeroes. Probably going to be that way again. Dumb to be this emotionally invested in a team, but it is what it is.
I hope both teams play at full strength the whole time. Would be amazing to be the franchise that has conquered both BB/Brady and Reid/Mahomes on the biggest stage. Besides, Andy owes us some brutal clock management, for old time's sake.
Everybody have a great evening and I hope we're partying seven hours from now.

Last Super Bowl damn near killed me
I'm still strangely confident... though I am not certain I'll be able to eat much. Which will not make my wife happy, since she's prepared a damned feast for the game.
I still feel that the Eagles have the advantage on both sides of the ball, whereas the Chiefs have one big ace up their sleeve in Mahomes. The key will be to use the running attack to limit possessions for K.C., and to get pressure on Mahomes to test out that ankle. Mahomes will get points, and Kelce will get catches... but I think the defense can stave them off just enough.
I'm seeing a 28-20 Eagles victory. And saying that probably screws them. Sorry! :evil
Ok NOW I'm nervous!

30 minutes to go. Finish the job.
Amazing how easy this offense is running through the Chefs.

Cautiously optimistic, but this is how I figured it would go. I didn't expect time of possession to be that lopsided so far.

Having it end with that soft ass call. Unbelievable
The holding call sucked, but the Eagles' defense did absolutely nothing to stop Mahomes or the running attack in the second half.
Still would have loved seeing Hurts with a chance there at the end. I think he's proven himself legit.

Right. Like it wasn't the call that lost them the game so to speak but it cost them a chance to put the best offense in the league back out there with time on the clock.
Just a horrendous way to end that game.
And please explain that last ditch Hail Mary by hurts. Please tell me the ball just slipped or There is some weird designed short pattern that wasn't there because that was Pop Warneresque

The Chiefs were going to score irregardless but WTF with those blown coverages on the last two TDs?
Even without the fumble return TD the Chiefs wore their ass down and 1000% dominated the second half.
Birds D had one hard hit, CJ, all game, OK Hargrave had one good hit. Chiefs D was bringing it all game. They were hitting while the birds were reinacting classic Three Stooges routines.
No pass rush, simple as that.

Man, there is nothing worse than a losing coaches press conference.
having a debilitatingly depressing loss feels so pure and natural to me...like home. we back, fam. like this wasnt worse than ronde or ricky manning because 2017 happened but man oh man this was brutal
you cant blame it all on the call. was it holding? sure. can you call it there? no farging way. they hadnt called shtein all game then with the game on the line called it and gave KC the win. would hurts have driven them down the field...maybe. maybe its a fg and its OT then who knows.
point blank they were awful in 2H defensively and their pass rush was non existent all game. the fumble was inexcusable and a game changer....hurts needed to be flawless to beat mahomes and he was except for 1 massive thing.
mahomes is extraordinary and the most talented person to ever play the position. at the same time, cinci held him to 23 in the afccg. it can be done to keep him until 30. gannon was clueless as usual against an elite qb/coach. just a depressingly bad loss that is going to take some time to get over.
mahomes >
It was the obvious reason they couldnt win pre game and its the reason they lost
There's my Todd! So true on all accounts.
On my walk to calm down. This will take some time and haunt us for awhile. This goes back to the schedule and look at all the trash teams they struggled with, and the lack of quarterback talent they faced basically all season. Chiefs were battle tested.
Yet with that said, this was in their grasp and I hope one day we find out why adjustments weren't made and what in the hell happened in the second half?
And did Jordan Davis do a damn thing tonight and where was Brandon Graham? Watching Pacheco just beat down birds defenders was embarrassing. Defense struggled with the run most of the season and great adjustment by fatty in the second have to shove it down their throats.
Wait, WTF? I just heard Gannon my get Arizona job? That put the first smile on my face in the last two hours. Hope Bidwell watched this game before he makes an offer.
Rube swinging and I love it!!
QuoteQuez Watkins. Brutal. Catch the freaking football. I had such high expectations of him this year, but he just keeps making plays to hurt the team. You're playing in a Super Bowl, you're open, you have a chance at a 35-yard catch down to about the Chiefs' 7-yard-line and instead of running to the ball, you leave your feet and let the ball fly through hands? Give me a break. Those are opportunities you can't squander in any game. You're getting one chance to mak a big play in the biggest game of your life. Catch the ball. Inexcusable.
They lost the SB 5 hours ago and still no Fire Nick Sirianni thread. The hell is wrong with this board?
Nick's little cheerleader act didn't work on the big stage. Works when you're playing Our Lady of Sorrow Pre-School. I have not been a big fan of Sirianni since day 1.
Offense = as good as could be expected. Hurts carried the team at points.
Defense = solid in first half, failed to make any adjustments in the second half, when even a non expert like myself could see the Chiefs had figured out the soft zone. Don't think I saw a single blitz the entire game.
Expecting to have a new DC next season.
As much as I can't stand Andy, he sure coached his team to a win there. He had this defense looking stupid and lost on every touchdown.
I'm hungover and need to go back to bed. Thank god I took the day off.
Yeah that one sucked.
Jalens fumble
Watkins drop
The god damn special teams and the punt return
The disappearing defense
The sloppy slippery field
The hold
Just pure shtein
Jalen played better than I thought he would. Basically excellent but for one play.
My anger at the flag robbed what could've been a legendary SB game no matter the outcome of the drive if the eagles get it back with 1:50 left down 3. They score it's an all time game. Chiefs stop them then you get a heroic defensive stance etc. The penalty is basically the only way to neuter the end.

Yeah it's not automatic that the Eagles would win by any means, but the flag killed the game and cheapens the win for the Chiefs. Same thing happened in the last Super Bowl. Let em play all night and then do that.
All the fans gripes about Gannon were 100% legit. Please get the az job.
As soon as they showed Sirriani crying during the national anthem I knew it was over.
The Chiefs probably still win but that call at the end was horrendous. Mahomes is the nfl golden child. They couldn't have scripted a better person to represent the league.
The Hurts fumble sucked but otherwise he was great and is undoubtedly the franchise qb.
Bottom line is the Chiefs outplayed the Birds.
I would say outcoached a lot more than outplayed. The failures were scheme more than execution. Gannon's second half was a turd for the ages. Guy has mush between the ears. Getting scored on easily twice off the same design is pathetic.
The Eagles dominated the first half. If it weren't for the turnover they win that game going away.
I don't know how many texts I've gotten from non-Eagles fans this morning but every one of them was about the same with respect to the last penalty. Basically we got farged. It was definitely holding but both sides mauled each other all night and that crew picked that play to call it.
It's an absolute farce the more I watch it, but the NFL is exactly that now; a farce.
Same thing with holding happened in last year's SB. Wait until a ticky-tack situation on the last drive to call it. At some level the NFL should care about these borderline calls draining all the drama out of the end of their biggest games, but apparently they do not.
Anyway, just like last year's call, eventually no one will remember it outside of Philly. I see it less as a robbery (because who knows what would have happened, plus the Eagles should have never allowed the comeback) and more as depriving fans of a worthy ending to that game.
yea double that...it wasnt the missed PI in the saints/rams nfccg from 18 where a bad call directly led to a different result. the refs were barely visible throughout the game, which is what everyone prefers, then on the biggest play of the game they choose right then and there to call a by the books but not egregious hold. its so awful on so many levels.
i think i mentioned this before but if they hadnt won the SB 5 years ago i wouldve killed myself last night. this is the kind of loss that guts you as a fan.
has a team with a defensive TD ever lost a SB?
this is not a shot at jalen and really its not even about him it could be anyones fumble but the fact is you can bitch about the refs gannon the field special teams etc. the bottom line is they lost the game the second they gave the other team a free touchdown
also me an lil guy talked about this non stop when it happened but sirriani turning into a bitch at the worst possible time after being crazy aggressive all season was terrible
Think the Falcons had one. Not a good team to emulate.
Pretty much agree with everyone across the board.
Sirianni punting and losing the aggressiveness
Gannon pissing down his leg in the 2H
The Chiefs negating the pass rush with misdirection and quick throws
Not checking Mahomes despite his ankle and letting him scramble freely
I mean just a gut wrenching loss. Like it took a piece out of me to where I need some time to recover. The season was fun. Ripping off a ton of wins. Toss in the Phillies WS run and I'm spent from the last three months.
The real kicker about that penalty isn't that it was iffy, because when they show the actual hold and not the three seconds later part that they replayed constantly you see him with a handful of jersey just yanking on it, it was that they'd have been in a better position to do something if they'd let the Chiefs score there.

ive thought about this too...why are you even trying to hook him there? if he gets over the top of you let him just go. the one thing that was going to destroy them there was a penalty. they couldve got a first and i remember saying either stop them or let them score. a first ends it...sure enough
It was the perfect cherry to top off the shtein sundae the defense put together in the second half.
I don't know if the fumble TD cost the Eagles the game. I think people have been extrapolating that play directly with how everything played out after that, and are just assuming because the Eagles got a stop and scored at the end of the half, the same thing would've happened if Hurts didn't fumble.
A couple things about that play. Hurts was toast either way. if he doesn't fumble he's either tackled for a mega loss or throws it away and the Eagles either punt or go for it on 4th down. There's so many variables, everyone's assuming that if not for the fumble that drive ends in points for the Eagles. It wasn't like he fumbled the ball on the Chiefs 10 yard line. Maybe the Eagles would've ultimately scored on that drive w/o the fumble, just saying the alternative outcome sans fumble on that possession is far from certain.
And give them the benefit of the doubt. Say they do score and go up 21-7. The Chiefs have been great under Mahomes at coming back from big deficits. For all we know, the Chiefs buckle down, get a TD drive right before the half to make it 21-14, and then tie it up on the first drive in the 3rd 21-21.
Look, that fumble was farging huge. But I don't think it was a game decider by any means. The Eagles were up 10 at the half even with that and lost. Only two teams in Super Bowl history have blown double digit halftime leads. Falcons were one in SB LI. Eagles were the other last night. That game was lost because you were physically dominated by a team you needed to physically dominate to win for the entire 2nd half. The Chiefs beat the Eagles at their own game. In the trenches.

A. Where the farg have you been?
B. Spot on brother! Great summary. The birds were beaten like drums on the D Line and the Chiefs may have given up 35 points but they were so much more physical than the birds on D. Eagles had two hard hits, Hargrave and CJG, that was it. All I saw was a D Line getting manhandled.
C. Eagles O Line was OK, Hurts two sacks were coverage sacks and yes they couldn't generate much of a rush game but they did fine.
D. Kiss my ass Sipuss.
E. Gannon please stay in Glendale.
F. Patrick Mahomes, whatcha gonna do?
Good God, birds have faced Tom Brady twice and Mahomes once in Super Bowls the past 19 years. Lost two of them by 3 points and won one. Unfortuantely one we had the bedwetter and the other a clueless DC.
Forced myself to watch the replay. Only watched first half. Holy shtein, you watch that half only and you are feeling so good. Yes, Mahomes is Captain Comeback but the birds were rolling. Unfortunatley the second half happened.
The emotions have been up and down all day. I'm old guys and I guess I've become jaded with all the Phillies, Birds, Bums, Flyers heartbreak sine 1971. I'm pissed but I'll be ok. SB XV, Buddy Ryan and those beautiful playoff performances, Last game at the Vet, Sixers 1977 blowing 2-0 lead to Blazers, Joe Carter, 1977 & 78 NLCS losses to the Dodgers, Lot of deep pain and suffering.
This old fart has seen one Super Bowl, two World Series, One NBA championship, and two Stanley Cups (I was 12 and living in Hawaii, imagine NHL coverage back than across the Pacific). I hope you all don't have to wait decades between titles and you get your share of championship memories and parades.
This one will eventually hit me, I'm sure.

its really really hard to win an october game against an average team giving free points....its evennharder against patrick mahomes in october...virtually impossible in the superbowl and impossible against patrick mahomes in the sb...did it lose the game in that sense that it happened in a tie with a minute left, no....did other things happen in the game that contributed to the loss, sure. But they simply were not winning that game if they gave up a defensive score and in the end that 7 pts was the difference
I feel worse today than yesterday.
They farging had it.

Yeah there was a guy here who went to bed at halftime because he had early morning and thought the Eagles had it in the bag. Woke up looked at the final score and was like "WTF happened?".
Guess if you
have to lose a close game is better than a blowout. I was stationed in San Diego the year they were blown up by the 49ers in the SB. You could almost taste the disappointment in the air the next morning.
AJ Brown saying when birds settled for a FG to go up 27-21 he knew it was over. Heard somewhere he was pissed off he wasnt used more.
GREAT piece on NFL Live by Dan Orlovsky on the play that set up the fourth down which lead to the Toney punt return. Horrible play call on 3rd and 2, birds call a pass play that blows up. Miss communication on O Line, Willie Gay not picked up and he forces Hurts to throw it away. Brown was wide open BUT staff crucified for not having Hurts sneak it twice for two yards.
AJ Brown jersey on order as we speak!

Juju's an ass and Browns right Mahomes saved his career. Was reading through the comments on Twitter....most chiefs fans were calling it lame uncalled for.
it was horribly lame...but thats juju. his troll attempt early in the week about cheesesteaks was cringe.
bradberry owned the flag and admitted it. the dude aint done nothing all year or in the game and he steals a terrible meme...deserves the cooking hes getting
If Mahomes stays healthy he's a first ballot guy. He is just unbelievable. I hated losing, but you know, if you're going to lose, you could do worse. I was thinking during the game that this motherfarging dude looks like Montana out there. Not physically... just his poise and demeanor. Cool as farg.
Also... Hurts is damn good too. We're lucky to have him.
Some of my friends are going down the 49er fan road, basically saying that the game was stolen and such shtein.
Have some damn pride. Our team was beaten

I've heard some gripes about calls but nothing to the extent of whiners fans. And kudos to every Eagles player and coach for not blaming the refs and giving the chiefs credit unlike the bitchass niners.
Without the win five years ago this would have been a life destroying loss. Choke job against Andy Reid ended on a softbatch call. I think there's no end to the insane stuff Eagles fans would be saying and doing in that scenario, and I'd probably be sympathizing with a lot of it.
But for anyone who can remember five years ago, this is a chance to be a bigger dude without having to swallow the idea of being cursed forever. Reid and Mahomes detonated the Eagles defense. That's a fact. One stop in the second half and the Birds win that game. They couldn't even get the one play they had on Brady.
Yeah I'm crushed but not as crushed as I'd be had they not won in 2017.
Bottom line is they lost it on their own.
If Jalen doesn't fumble
If they don't overturn DeVonta's catch
If Sirianni doesn't punt
Or if they actually tackle Toney
And a few other if's...
It stings. And Howie has his work cut out for him if they want to sniff it again next season

Yes! He wins one more he's slam dunk first ballot. Same, sat there during the game thinking even when he's off there is just something about Mahomes, he's going to fix it, work through it, figure it out, etc. Just manages the life out of you. Hard to be pissed off losing to this guy.
Hurts is good! Any doubt I had was erased Sunday. Screw the fumble, total fluke, dumb ass Seamalu put them in that position. Watkins makes that catch, Hurts great performance is legendary.

I woke up kinda grumpy Monday that there will be no parade this week but other than that I'm over it. on to the Sixers next crushing playoff exit.
this is the worst sports loss for me since ricky manning jr and one of the worst ever....its excruciating and i cant stop running it back thru my mind on a non stop loop...nothing is worse than losing a big game you should have won...phillies stros didn't phase me at all cause at no point did the phils ever have a chance of winning and they were playing with house money...this is the kind of loss where i crawl into a hole and do no social media and no sports tv for at least a week so i dont see or hear something about the game...i haven't and wont even watch the sixers on the off chance i have to hear the douchebag announcers mention the superbowl
this really really sucks and isn't getting significantly better for the foreseeable future

Agree with this this farging blows
Usually after a shtein loss, thought Trump was being re-elected, death in the family...I'll wake up in the middle of the night with a dreaded feeling but it's only one night. It's been 3 nights in a row now waking up at all hours with that feeling of dread. As far as worst losses in any sport in Philly history I don't see anything that tops this.
its not worse than ronde or ricky manning....i was really into hockey at this point but the 01 flyers collapse to the devils (specifically game 7) still destroys me.
those were all 20 years ago -- im old -- so in recent memory yea this is the tops. and all 3 of those L's were conference finals. who knows what happens the next round. right here they had a very good chance to win the actual SB and, just didnt
One thing that I've finally realized as I've aged: It's a football game. Once it was over, it was over.
Disappointing, yes. Demoralizing, no. There's too much other more important stuff in the world to let a football game be what breaks your spirit.
My son was more like me 20 years ago. I had to talk him off the ledge at the end of the game.
The Phillies, Union, and Eagles. Welcome to Philly sports, son.
I still get into a lather during the game, though. My wife gives me "that look" from time to time. Maybe in another 20 years.

It was definitely over when they kicked the FG. The game plan for the second half should have been taking as long as possible to get a TD each and every time they had the ball. If you want to say the FG wasn't the end, then the punt absolutely was.

Same.
I haven't been taking in anything football related. It seems to sting more each day and when people do the "dude what happened with your Eagles" schtick I run it back and get angrier.
I still have no voice left.
Agreed, I keep waking up at night with visions of the mistakes, what could have happened. I talk about it to friends and co-workers just to get it off my chest. It's a weird feeling, not heart broken, it's an empty feel. An incomplete feel. I keep asking myself "If Hurts got the ball back and there was no flag and he had time and lets say they still lost, he can't get a first down, he gets sacked for a huge loss, INT, whatever, I'd probably feel better, still pissed and angry but they got the ball back and shtein the bed, live with it". This one is not easy.
Now I ask myself and you all, 00:11 left, own 35 yard line, enough time for a quick strike on the sideline, get out with one or two seconds left maybe in FG range? Trot Elliott out there 60 yarder? That last hail Mary WAS NEVER EVER going to work. Kind of summed up the panic that took over the second half.
I'm telling you guys this shtein doesn't go away, I still relive SB XV and how bad the birds played, 1978 and Mike Michel missing an XP and a 34 yard FG to win it still haunts me. Damn I still get violently ill when I think of 1997 and Tom Hutton on MNF in Dallas. The Fog Bowl. The bedwetter.
It sucks and it's gut wrenching. More so becasue every fear we had came to attrition - Gannon, Special Teams, shtein at LB, no safeties, team not really battle tested.
I'm going to use what we saw from Hurts this game to get me through and the thought of one more reliable weapon to make this offense real special.
Jesus Christ, I forgot about it that night. Foles and co. lifted the burden forever. I can die happy.
It was a fun ride. Jalen is awesome. Future is bright.
Come on guys. Good shtein for the Eagles.
I need a hug Dio!

To an extent this is how I feel. It was a huge bummer and still a big disappointment, but gone are the days where I let a sports game 'gut me', at least for any length of time. The most aggravating factor though is how all the stars seemed to align this year, and the future doesn't project to be nearly as favorable. As for the worst loss I ever suffered through, no question it was the 2003 NFCCG. Farg Blaine Bishop eternally.
Maybe my view will change as this loss becomes more distant, but I felt more wounded by the Phillies loss than the Eagles one. Can't really explain why, since the Eagles are typically way more important to me than the Bums.
A lot of it was the win five years ago, but part of it is also Patty Mahomes. He's a freak. No shame in losing to that.
I don't necessarily think this is the beginning of a new Eagles golden age, either. On paper the team's talent will certainly be worse next year. Unknowns at both coordinators. And after what happened with Wentz, I'm not willing to pencil in Hurts as a perennial MVP candidate, even if I strongly hope that's the case. Better chance than not that 2022-2023 was the closest this core group of guys will ever come to being champions.
I manned up and watched the second half. Good God! The d line was manhandled.
And Juju was going to score on that Bradburry hold. At first I thought it was uncatchable but no way, it was a great pass, Juju catches that he's not held, basically game over.
This defesnive unit padded up stats against much inferior competition during the season.
I atually feel a little better now after watching. Birds met their match on Sunday. Hurts kept them in this game.
WTF does this mean?? EPA? Success rate? Whatever it means it was one of their worst defensive games in 22 years and this franchise has had some real zesty defenses!
From Kapadia:
Quote
The Eagles have played 400 games since 2000. Among that sample, the defensive performance in the Super Bowl ranked:
* 391st in EPA per drive
* 395th in success rate
they werent great by any definition or number but considering the competition field conditions and andy reid off a bye i dont think giving up 28 pts to patrick mahomes is a once in a generation bad performance... it wasnt even their worst defensive showing this season...i think people had excessive expectations after playing daniel jones and whatever san fran had and two weeks of hearing how many sacks they had this season

Juju scores there they get the ball back with almost 2 minutes left down by 7. I'd take that over down by 3 with .08 left

Their numbers all season vs good qbs was horrendous. The frustrating thing for fans with Gannon all season was his defensive schemes were way too basic. Rush 4 (occasionally 5) and play zone. That's it. Talent wise the Birds had the best D in the league. The lack of adjustments and basic coverage mistakes like motion at the goaline assignments are inexcusable rookie mistakes. I hope they go with a more aggressive and innovative DC but stick to the 4-3.
Ugh

Gannon was 1-9 the last two years against top 10 QBs. Marcus Hayes and his "he'll be missed" trash. Please!
Daniel Jones, Cooper Rush, whoever the Texans qb was. Pickett, Wentz, Hienecke, Love, Fields, crippled Rogers, Methuselah Ryan, beat up Tannehill, Midget Murray, Cousins, go get um' Johnny Boy! shtein man, you better go 14-3!
