He was doing his job as a journalist, made an agreement with team officials pertaining to the dissemination of the information he was gathering, then a team apparatchik had a fit when he saw him and had him escorted out.

The Phillies from top to bottom have a smugness that is becoming suffocating.   The "how dare you question us" vibe isn't as bad as it is with the Eagles, but it's close.

And Brookover is a douchebag.  No one is suggesting otherwise.

he didn't fly to florida for that.  he flew there to do a story on phillies minor leaguers.  the howard thing was an aside to that story.  and honestly, for all the grief we give the hacks, i gotta hand it to brookover for actually pursuing that angle.  we have a right as fans of the team to know what's going on with the 125 million dollar franchise cornerstone even if they're not interested in obliging us.

im 1000% against reporters attempting to make themselves the story, but this is a case where it had to happened

the phillies look like total funholes, as does rube and the minor league coach who went on a power trip. but, brookover sounded too self righteous during this, like it was his unenviable right to watch ryan howard field grounders.

The smugness of the team is well documented. And the "it's Doug, not dude" guy reeks of it. He probably got a bonus from King Smug.

However I am like igy (and Klecko on WIP this morning) in the sense that I don't give a crap about any updates. Tell me when he's doing baseball activities (he is) and tell me when he is playing in rehab games (they will) and tell me when he's coming back.

Other than that? Don't care. Brookover is going to report what exactly? Is he a doctor? Can he tell how he feels?

Of course Rob Charry was against it and wanted exact and precise updates.

exactly...other than him giving us a return date for choke (which obviously wasnt going to happen) there is nothing that could come out of him watching a rehab stint that would remotely interest me
