I don't care how close this loss will be or how big the blowout is, I can't possibly feel bad about it after all the bullshtein they've gone through in the last five or six years.
MIN or NO??
Minny with the better defense and a backup QB
New Orleans with the looser defense but Brees and the run game. Both backs were shut down last week and CAR should've won that. Brees hasn't aired it out this year like years past
Brady and Brees is the game that'll be fun to talk about twenty years from now, but I want the Jeff Fisher Castoff NFCCG.
vikings and its not even a debate
payton is a next level game planner/caller and brees is a HOF qb...they will put up points. the eagles d can ball out but the saints arent being held to 10 like the loser falcons were. can nick foles get to 20+ points? eh lets not find out.
vikings will be a lot of 3 and outs, field position, punting, 1 turnover/flag will swing. its shaky ground to be on but its literally the only way they can succeed.
other half of this is BORTLES needs to pull the upset tomorrow. i mean sure ill make the super bowl but if its brady, which im sure it will be, it will be over and over fast.
Vikings defense is nasty, but the Saints have Brees/Kamara/Lattimore/Jordan/Thomas. They are terrifying. Eagles can grind out another low scoring defensive game at home. Minnesota please.

Just wait.
Vikings
The Eagles match up better obviously.
The Saints o line is good and Kamara/Ingram is a great rb combo but I have confidence in the Eagles run d. Brees on the road in the cold could be the neutralizer. The only thing about the Saints that scares me is Payton.
I think the Vikings win today.
early weather look is like high 40s for sunday. who knows about the wind.
i mean if its gonna be swirling ill amend and take the saints...eagles can shutdown the run game and the wind can slow down brees enough. would much rather face saints d. but outside of that, theres no debate.
I've moved onto wanting the Vikings. I had to think about it but let's go Vikes
It doesn't matter who they play; this is a team of destiny. FolesDefenseSuperbowl
fds > mds
Jay finally admitted he likes another QB more than McNabb
Lolol
On another note if the Vikes come to town the line will likely be -3.5/4 to open
Preparing my response for after next weeks game:
"shtein, birds would have beat the Saints"
Or
"shtein, birds would have beat the Vikings"
Im done doubting the Eagles. Regardless of what happens next week they've earned it. Peyton Manning was relegated to game manager and the Broncos d dominated in the sb. Weird shtein happens.
The Vikings coming off a bye at home came out hot but they've really cooled off. I'd still prefer playing them.
Yeah I think both teams are better than the Eagles, mainly because of the QB situation. But anything can happen. It's farging football.
The Eagles winning the NFCCG at home is less unlikely than the Titans beating the Chiefs at Arrowhead or the Jags beating the Steelers twice at Heinz Field.
I would love to see a Bortles/Foles Superbowl.
Keenum is careless with the ball
I can't believe the Eagles season is going to end with Sam Bradford taking a knee. He doesn't even have a knee!
2004
Beat MIN and ATL to face NE
2017
Beat ATL and face MIN to possibly face NE
Birds open up as 3.5 underdogs. O/U 38
Pats are giving 9.5...O/U 46
Figured this was a likely L after seeing the team treat Saturday like a SB win, but after Minnesota's ending and the emotions / celebration from that - who knows

That MN/NO game had one of the craziest farging endings I've ever seen. Keenum and Diggs were both afterthoughts to me and I didn't think there was any way in hell they could pull a W out of their asses like that.
I can't stand Breesus though so I'm good with it.

One reason why I haven't been to an NFL game in over thirty years. Between the cost and the hassle, it's not worth it.

Selling?
Everson Griffen vs Vaitaii. If that doesn't keep Doug up late at night I don't know what will. Their running game is a non factor, only slight concern I have is McKinnon out of the backfield on wheel routes. Murray is a joke. The Vikings o line is good not great. Keenum can't scramble which is huge.
Having the late game could make the difference. Early weather indicates it'll be low 40's come kickoff, for a dome team that's cold. Let's hope climate change brings some lower temps and wind.
Yeah even though they move Griffin around I expect him to spend most of the time posted up on Big V. I expect them to give him help with Celek/backs.
Their OL has a new RT and they shifted Remmers to LG and he was just ok there. So they are exploitable up front.
I either read it or heard on one of the pregame shows they've shifted their o line around 7 times this season. Once the Saints d settled in they were able to get consistent pressure on Keenum. Aside from the Diggs miracle the Vikings offense was shut down in the second half. I'm a huge Lattimore fan but he really struggled yesterday.
What's the ticket situation like? I'm thinking... hmmm...

Stubhub is ridiculous. I can't imagine what the prices would be like if Wentz was playing. I'll give tomorrow a shot for a face value single. You never know.
23-20 eagles. late FG for the win.
I'm thinking it'll be like a 17-16 or 16-14 type game
Minnesota absolutely lucked into this game. Brees scares me. Case Keenum doesn't. Their defense is good but so are the Birds in that regard.
I'll say
Eagles 26
Vikings 17
I still don't see anybody scoring without turnovers helping, and there should be a few in this game. I can easily see this game being lost by Ajayi fighting for an extra yard when he doesn't need to, or Foles not getting amazing luck with people dropping interceptions.
i don't see the eagles scoring 26 points. if they win i think it's 17 - 13 or something.
game is a cointoss to me. it'd be ultimate eagles game if jax somehow beats NE and then philly loses.

Let's farging gooooooooo
Couldn't sleep a wink last night. Holy shtein let's go 6:30.
If the Eagles somehow win today then they would definitely beat New England for the championship. Patriots would be looking past the Eagles to next year's Super Bowl. #dogmask
Normally I would never root for the Patriots to win this AFC game and would find it hilarious if the Jags beat them, but the possibility of losing the Super Bowl to Bortles (and that terrible bland city where the Eagles lost the last SB) must be avoided at all costs. It would even cheapen a win, although please believe it would still be the greatest sports fan moment of my life.
But let's do this the right way. If the Eagles make it through, I want them to beat the GOAT or lose to him.
Not overlooking the Vikings, who are better than the Eagles, but unfortunately the AFC game comes first and I need to know where I stand.

Agree with this. I had this thought in my head the Birds would beat the Pats in the SB with Wentz and it would be a passing the torch moment with Brady.
I'll appreciate a Sb regardless of how or who it's won against. It all starts today. 🦅🦅🦅🦅

I want NE too.
I've been up since 545. Eagles Anxiety is fully blown
This will be a game like last week. FGs and defense. Hope the moment isn't too big for Elliot bc the Vikes kicker has been shaky lately. Big time advantage Eagles if Elliot is on.
16-13 Eagles
F that go Jags
I don't think I want to live in a world with potential Super Bowl MVP Blake Bortles.
Vikes 21
Birds 17
I think last week was the biggest game this particular Eagles team could win. I hope I'm mistaken, but I don't see them beating Minnesota today.
Vikings 24
Eagles 10
I see it playing out similarly. I think only one team will get to 20 points and whichever that team that is will win.
Vikings 27
Eagles 13
It's said every game but I think it's true for this game more than ever...getting a lead will be absolutely crucial. Put Keenum in a position where he needs to throw from behind, on the road, and they win. Same can be said for the Vikings and Foles.
Eagles D is much better home than on the road. Vikings D is a bit worse on the road.
17-13 eagles
If Wentz were playing, I'd be torn up with excitement. Without him, I'm pretty much resigned to defeat. To be fair, I felt the same way last week as well.
The Eagles' defense is legit. And they have to play at their best to win this game. I think it will be close, but have little faith in Foles pulling it out at the end. And Ajayi seems to have a bad case of butter hands. One turnover will prove to be fatal.
Vikings 17

I quit. Torrey Smith pulls a Torrey Smith and Burton jumps on a well thrown ball where he was wide open.

Pederson and Foles have led this team to the Super Bowl. Doug Pederson and Nick Foles. Outstanding.

The first drive of the game was a horror show.
It was! Obviously allowing the touchdown was not encouraging it was how confused the defense looked on every play that first series that was concerning. Amazing recovery.
Fletcher Cox needs a statue. He is simply amazing.
Vikings complete the NFC East championship game cycle.
1977: Cowboys - 23 , Vikings - 6
1987: taterskins - 17 , Vikings - 10
2000: Giants - 41 , Vikings - 0
2017: Eagles - 38 , Vikings - 7
I had a feeling. Not sure why. But I honestly and truly thought that was gonna happen yesterday.
Amazing.

I drove home from my Uncles last night with my daughter. We swung by Frankford and Cottman, parked, walked around for about 15 minutes, and I was like yeah I'm good. Too much going on.
Anyway, yeah about 2 hours, my hearts been pounding all night.
no way I was going to frankford & cottman, not for this anyway. in two weeks, yeah, im there.
such an amazing game and night.

It was a shteinshow, if they win it's going to be 10x worse. We had to park 20 minutes away and lucked out finding that spot. I didn't actually go into the crowd, just kinda stood at the edge to take it all in.

my sister lives a couple blocks away, so I have a spot to park in her driveway. just like I did for the Phillies. otherwise, yeah it would be nuts trying to find a spot to park.
A minor miracle I am at work today
We're installing a new operating system in our department and I'm training today. Good God.
I'm work from home otherwise I'd have called out. Already off for the 5th.
0% chance i was going into work today
will not get over last night
Struggling to get to work on the west coast. I hope they don't expect much out of me today. Already put in vacation for the 5th and 6th. Flying back to PHL to watch the game with my dad.

There are many Eagle wins that someone reading the game threads would assume are 20 point losses.

Craziest win I've ever experienced. I kinda remember the trophy presentation with dingus Bradshaw singing the fight song, but after that, it's a bit fuzzy.
Rome, you actually went to the game? I thought I read you couldn't make it for some reason.

I didn't go to the parade because I was in the city the night they won and got my fill, but I'll be watchig this at my dads and uncles, so I'll prob wanna go to the parade this time. But I'd still rather have the day after the game off first...

DETROIT — Having sat together high in the end-zone seats during the Eagles' 38-7 wipeout of Minnesota in Sunday's NFC championship game at Lincoln Financial Field, the Flyers have added inspiration to reach a Stanley Cup Final.
"The atmosphere was unbelievable. If I hadn't been there to see it live, I probably wouldn't have believed it," goalie Michal Neuvirth said after the morning skate Tuesday in Detroit, where the Flyers were preparing to play the Red Wings. "Even after the game, we went downtown for a little bit and I've never seen so many people. It was crazy, and it's great for the city."
Left winger Michael Raffl said he was "standing like a super fan until the end. It was unreal. I loved it."
"Best game I've ever been to, for sure," center Sean Couturier said. "Everybody stood the whole game. It was pretty crazy."

Most of the Flyers attended the game after taking a train from Washington, where they had defeated the Capitals earlier Sunday, 2-1, in overtime.
Several Flyers wore green jerseys to show their support for the Eagles, and Couturier even wore a hat that had a stuffed eagle atop it.
"It was probably the most fun event I've ever been to," defenseman Andrew MacDonald said. "When they got that pick-six, everyone went bonkers, and it seemed like the rest of the game, it continued that way."
"An awesome experience," captain Claude Giroux said.
MacDonald, who said there was a brief "Let's go, Flyers!" chant from the fans when the players were recognized, said it was "different being on the other side and being part of the fan experience. Everyone knows how passionate the Philly fans are, and to be part of it was really special. We had a blast."
Raffl said he got into Lincoln Financial Field a bit late, so he missed the Vikings' first drive, which produced a touchdown and a quick 7-0 lead.
"It was all Eagles from there," Raffl said. "They took off."
Giroux played in the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals and was asked which was louder, the Wells Fargo Center or the Linc.
"Both," he said, "were pretty crazy."
Neuvirth said he would like the chance to compare a Stanley Cup Final atmosphere in Philadelphia with what he experienced Sunday at the NFC championship game.
"Game 7. Wooooooooooo!" he said.

I think the third down to Ertz on the second drive was 3rd and 10 but that was the first since Wentz, yeah.
i was already hugging people when it looked like Robinson was going to step out of bounds on that pick 6. and then once he started crossing to the other side of the field i agree that was the loudest i've ever heard it there. i am just getting my voice back today.

The air temp in 2005 was like -5 with a wind chill of -30 wasn't it? I remember it took about 5 minutes for my beer to freeze during that game. The weather would be my guess.
this team fits the philly mentality much better IMO. the underdog label. plus this run came out of nowhere.

Probably this. During the 04 season, it was pretty much expected that they'd be there. And after 3 previous losses, it was probably even expected to end there.
Also, the 05 playoffs were like the 5th year in a row that the Eagles had at least 1 home playoff game. This is year was the first home playoff game in a few years and the first home NFCCG in over a decade. Absence makes the cheers grow louder.
Yeah I was just talking with a few people with this earlier this week....in 2004 I expected it, because of where the team had been the last few years and the offseason they had. This year I'm just way more excited because of how unexpected it is.
It could also represent the beginning of a new era with Wentz and *gulp* Doug.
Of course nothing is guaranteed and the rest of the NFL isn't staying still. Just the QB picture in the NFC next year figures to be dramatically different.
Somewhere out there has got to be a post from IGY declaring the Eagles had the worst starting QB in the division and, that not being enough, also adding the hyperbole that their starter may be just the 5th best in the division.
Found it.
Quote from: IGY in August during the preseasonCarson Wentz is the 7th best QB in the division and Nick Foles isn't even the 4th best QB on the Eagles.
I'm paraphrasing here.
I may have made the whole thing up. I definitely made the whole thing up.
They should still bring in Kaep, though. Not because they might need a backup, but because it would really get the MAGA crowd frothing to see this lazy thug get paid to stand around kneel for the anthem and collect a ring he didn't earn.

It doesn't matter, igy doesn't care at all about this whole postseason run anyway. He said he was 100% OUT after the Wentz injury.
yeah this is all free money
if they win it awesome
if they lose i will be pissed cause i think they are going to win
but it wont be 5% as bad as any of the andy nfcc losses
If they win it's not only the greatest single sports event and sports story for Philadelphia but one of the greatest for the NFL as well. A back up QB takes over late in the season for the likely league MVP and beats the greatest QB of all time who's leading the greatest dynasty in NFL history. It's the FNL/Texas high school overused storyline only in real life and in the NFL.

History will look back at Brady as the greatest QB/player of all time and Belicheck as the greatest coach of all time and the Patriots as the greatest dynasty of all time. I agree this isn't the greatest Patriots team during their run but that is completely irrelevant.

I actually think that the Vikings fans started this whole thing by doing the Skol dance that they copied from that soccer team in front of the Rocky statue.... The victim role being embraced by Vikings fans is really getting sad. I mean I don't feel bad for a guy that gets bit while teasing a dog..
Vikings fans were warned by their local news not to make a spectacle and then they went desecrated sacred ground.
That guy sounded like the biggest Hoyda.

QuoteYes. There were a few people that had to get stitches. Another that had two bones in his ankle broken. There was also someone that had brain surgery from either a punch or beer can hitting his head. I have a friend that was jumped by 6 others in a bathroom. And no, it wasn't about "feelings" being hurt. I dare you to go there and go through what the rest of us did. One former Vet said he feels like he just came out of a war zone. Some are actually having nightmares. Two have reported not leaving their homes. And these are just out of the people that I knew better that were there. There was a 10 year old child that was yelled at and had beer through at him... I have thick skin and I've been to packer country 3 times... 2 times when we lost... I watched a video that was taken of a crowd around us and had anxiety pop up again.
