Because it was the Red Sox. And even when the Phillies are in the WS and the Red Sox fans are not, they'd start talking about how they no hit the NL team in the WS.

I really didn't even need that second sentence. I could have stopped at the first.

i used to think nothing could ever top phreaks mcnabb homerism......but the lil guy has topped it with his love of the phils....altho at this point i feel like hes just farging with people and is purposely trying to channel chris wheeler

it really would have broken your heart if they got no hit? you would have taken that disappointment to the grave?

newsflash: the phillies will get no hit before you die. its gonna happen. though hopefully you will die tomorrow (and take munson with you, as per our agreement) and therefore will miss a possible parade not only for the flyers, but for this team, as well.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Counting a Braves victory against Pittsburgh a bit early there... Pittsburgh wins, Braves still 3½ behind the Phils.

Crucial?

Its farging MAY, IGY. Nothing is "Crucial" in May. Unless, of course, you've forgotten 2007 and 2008.

Things don't seem crucial in April or May because there is so much season in front of you.  But the truth is, games are no more or less important in the beginning of the season than they are at the end.  Take care of business in April and May and there's less to worry about come September.  And the Phils are a perfect example of that.

2008 and 2009, the Phils were above .500 and in first place in the division on June 1.  They went to the WS both years.

2007 they were 2 games under .500 on June 1 and in 3rd place.  It took a monster run from the Phils and an epic choke from the Mets to win the division.

It's no coincidence that from 2000-2006, the Phils were horrible in April and ultimately fell short in several Wild Card bids.  Meanwhile, from 2007-2009 the Phils had winning records in April and won the division all 3 years.

In other words, solid April and May = less stress in September.

First place in the last week of May.

What the farg else do you want?

Oh wait, a win EVERY DAY.   ::)
