To hold for Akers in the playoffs??
Rumor?
http://boards.philadelphiaeagles.com/index.php?showtopic=408733
I'd worry more about the snapper than I would the holder.
GF might ban somebody just from the sheer joy of hearing this news.
i would hope they would list detmer as a punter or something, just so they wouldnt have to actually play him in a game if garcia got hurt.
very smart move if it happens

That's my take, as well. But I guess Andy needed some of the old King Koybra magic back again.

Hail Neckbeard......even if I never want to see him under center again.........
Whats the league minimum for a vet with his tenure? $900k a season? To hold a football for PAT's and FG's?
Excuse me while I kill my HS guidance counselor. :boom
Yeah, but that salary will probably be pro-rated for the post-season. He won't be paid 900K to hold on a game-by-game basis.

Hence the term "season". Lets say the Eagles play four more games. :paranoid Not including any bonuses for the games themselves, he's going to pull in about $45k a game. That'll buy a lot of King Koybra.

actually, it really doesnt matter what his salary is. the players have a set salary for playoff games not determined by their contract. he may get bonuses.
Best news I've heard in a long time. A playoff run wouldn't be a playoff run without Detmer.

Didn't know that. Point remains he's doing OK for a holder. :)
Koy said on WIP that he is the #2 and will come into the game if Garcia goes out for a few plays. Should Garcia be knocked out for the game, Feeley comes in.
QuoteThe 46th player must be the third quarterback. If he enters the game in the first, second or third quarter, the first two quarterbacks may not enter the game. If he enters in the fourth quarter, either of the first two quarterbacks may come back in. The designated third quarterback may only be the quarterback, kicker, holder or punter. He may not play any other position, regardless of his number and he may not be on the field at the same time as either of the first two quarterbacks at any time during the game. If a team has three active quarterbacks as part of its 45-man roster, they are not allowed a 46th player. Overtime is treated the same as if it were the fourth quarter.
I heard as soon as it was officially announced the line went from -6.5 and -13.
Look, having Neckbeard back is cool and all. But Johnson has done a pretty decent job of fielding the shtein the magician has been flinging. Why farg with what's worked?

Not really...Johnson's botched 3 or 4 holds now this year, including one that led to Akers' first miss under 30 yards. Beat.
nothin I love more than a good holder controversy. Detmer definately got the nod because AR can't stand the fact that Dirk doesn't even have a celebration dance.
The hold wasn't that bad on Akers missed field goal. Granted, the laces were in but I think Akers rythmn was screwed up because of it and he pulled the ball too much. It looks like he just over-compensated a bit.
Otherwise, the hold was down, the ball looked pretty level, I just think the snap screwed Akers up more than anything.
Whatever his excuse, Akers missed a 23 yard field goal.
He can't be considered one of the best in the league any longer. that is incredibly accurate.
I think Akers should have probably made the FG.
And I agree, Akers has missed some kicks that he should easily have made. Because of this, I don't feel as confident as I used to in Akers ability to make clutch kicks.
i thought neck-beard was koy ???

Who the farg do you think they're talking about?
Darwin Walker?
Ty Detmer is pushing a lawnmower somewhere.
he looks like ty with the doo. maybe ty is cuttin hair these days
Best personnel move of the Andy Reid era?
HAIL!
Worst. Decision. Ever.
Detmer IS a Pro-bowler!
See the way he tilts that ball? No one better.

That
was some nice tilt.
We'll all just be packing a toothbrush for the road trip.
The neck beard came down tonight, gripped the ball with his beard and controlled the ball into the upright TONIGHTQ!!!!
HAIL HAIL HAIL HAIL HAIL!!

NECK BEARD HAIL!!!!!
Akers is so much better when Neckbeard is holding his balls.
Everyone pour out a little bit of their King Koybra in honor of NECKBEARD!!
Akers was $$ today. And it was because of Koy.
Tony Romo - take note.
Terrible conditions on the game winner. He made it look easy, and it's not, not in weather like that.

A. You pour it out when someone's dead. Koy's ALIVE, motherfarger.
B. Yes.
C. Tony Romo wishes he was as money as Koy! Especially with the ladies!
Stuart Scott on ESPN this morning, " Koy Detmer, alot more popular than Tony Romo " I laughed
Koy for the Pro Bowl! Give the NFC a chance to win. Kick Homo off, replace him with Detmer. How much better is Romo than Kpy as a QB anyway?
Quote"Being a holder for the amount of time I've been, you realize there's nothing given," Detmer said. "None of them are guaranteed. You have to make it happen."
LEGEND.

Reunited and it feels so goooooood!!!
That's quite a sex stare from Akers. :-D
You just know that Koy was half-way through a six-pack and a bag of pork rinds when he got the call from the Eagles.
Koy got 900K this "year" too.
I think they should use this strategy until Koy is 45 years old. Don't waste an entire season's roster spot on him, then when the playoffs roll around give him a decent amount of money for which would be 4 games max. I'm sure he wouldn't mind making 225K a game at the lowest.
