I shall repeat it here:
Chase Utley is Pedro's daddy.
:evil
i think Chase will be a .300 avg, 30 HR guy every year, especially in that ball park. he's going to be a stud for many years.
He'll fade into oblivion just like every other young promising Phillie. Or he'll start hating the city and force his way out.
On Myers:
I wouldn't proclaim him an ace yet. He's by far the Phils' best pitcher, but that's like saying I'm the skinny one in my family. :D
On Utley:
[self-aggrandizement]Who was talking up Mr. Utley in the beginning of the season?[/self-aggrandizement] 8)
My man Chase Utley!
Utley = starting All-Star 2B for the next 10 years :evil

It did cost me $20 as I had bet a friend that the Eagles would win a championship before Loserthal had a meaningful hit in a meaningful game. I thought it was a sure thing.
Cripes, listening to Wheeler makes me want to throw up.
Did Charlie just get thrown out again? What the farg?

Patterson is going sunday for the Nats. Didn't hear any offical word that Brito would saturday, but you're probably right to put him in there. He's the only option.
I just heard an interesting little stat on Mike and Mike this morning.
Robinson Tejeda is tied with Pedro Martinez and John Smoltz for having left the most games with a lead (5) only to have the bullpen blow it.
5 times Tejeda has left the game with a lead and 5 times it's been blown by the BP. They never stated if the team went on to lose those 5 games or not but that's got to be extremely irritating for a starting pitcher.

Sindey Ponson is on the market....but I still think hes on the DL. :paranoid
Other options include:
1) Pedro Lariano :P
2) Paul Abbott :-D
3) Myers on 3 days >:(
4) Geary, Lopez and the rest of the back of the bullpen go 5/6 innings :-\
I don't think 4 is such a bad idea. Okay Geary blows, but Lopez has been pretty good. If he goes 2-3 inning, Larinao and Geary combine to get them through 5...then you go to Fultz. Now, this kills the bullpen with no day off that week. So, eh, kinda risky unless Myers goes out the next day and gives everyone a rest.
I guess its the best bet to hope Floyd catches lighting in a bottle or something and actually pitches well.
Is Lidle still hurt?

Billy can only go 1 inning. If you bring him in there, what happens if you dont score the next inning? It was either a tired Lopez or Liriano. Manuel made the right choice. They won on a walk, wild pitch and flare. I'm more disgusted in the umpring and especially Jimmy freakin Rollins. Not Lopez. He got unlucky that inning.
Nevertheless, 2/3 in this series is still possible. Madson, Urbina and Wagner are all okay to pitch. I think everyone else out of the pen needs the day off. So, we need (of all people) Gavin Floyd to go at least 6. I have faith things will work out. We rebounded nicely off that tough loss in New York on tuesday, we can do the same here.

Wagner could of gone two, if needed.
I agree the umpiring sucked. The Abreu call was horrible and I also thought Rollins was safe at second. I didn't see a good replay of that, though.
You're in for a huge letdown if you think Floyd will go 6 innings.
I don't know what to expect tommorrow. Lightning in a bottle perhaps with Floyd?
Saying Manuel made the right call with Lopez isn't a big deal. Wagner never should have been used until we had a lead. Lopez tired is better than Lariano. All this talk wouldnt exist if Rollins wasn't such a pile of shtein at the plate.
But enough of that game. Its over. We lost. Move on. Tommorrow the Sillies win, take 2/3 from the Nats and go home. Book it.

I disagree, especially this time of year. Wagner could have easily gone two innings, especially having not pitched in the first game of the season. And, considering how important wins are right now, he probably should have. Do what is necessary to get the win.
Unless there is arm trouble- and there have been no signs of that with Wagner- two innings was doable for him. He's gone two innings several other times this season.
And Rollins had one of the worst games I've ever seen him play.
BTW, that "check-swing" strike three on Abreu (eighth inning?) was weak. Utley's ball four swing earlier in the same inning went further than Abreu's did.

Honestly, 6-4 may not cut it. Need at least 7-3. (2-1 vs. Hou and Fla and 3-1 against Atl)
Eventually, one of these hanger-on teams are going to go on a tear. Houston and Florida have too much pitching in thier rotation to keep going 5-5 and 6-4.
If the Phils don't take full advantage of this homestand, they'll be behind in the WC race at the end because of it.
THIS is the make-or-break run for the Phils.
The good news is that the Cards are beating Houston and the Mets are beating Florida.
The Marlins and Astros are not good enough to go on a tear. If the Phillies continue to play .500 on the road and win series at home, things could work out. The Astros are on their way to losing 2/3 to St. Louis. Not winning at home like they should.
It's tough to win, even at home, if you're facing a superior team.
Talk to me after the Phillies win series against both Houston and Atlanta at home.

Compare the rotations:
MarlinsDontrelle Willis (19-8, 2.55)
Josh Burkett (12-8, 3.62)
A.J. Burnett (12-8, 3.07)
Brian Moehler (6-9, 3.98)
Ishmael Valdez (1-1, 4.36)
AstrosRoger Clemens (11-6, 1.57)
Roy Oswalt (16-11, 2.91)
Andy Pettitte (13-9, 2.50)
Wandy Rodriguez (9-6, 5.94)
Ezequiel Astacio (2-6, 5.96)
PhilliesBrett Myers (12-6, 3.51)
Jon Lieber (13-12, 4.57)
Vicente Padilla (8-12, 4.51)
Robinson Tejada (4-3, 3.19)
Eude Brito (0-0, 2.79)
What top three would you put your money on? Myers-Lieber-Padilla? I'll take either of the other two (Willis-Burkett-Burnett or Clemens-Oswalt-Pettitte). Heck, the Marlins' number four and five have lower ERAs than our number two (though Valez has too few games under his belt to be accounted for much).
I would say that the Marlins or Astros are MUCH more likely to pull a long winning streak, or at least a long stretch of .750 or better, than the Phillies. Both the Marlins and Astros have battle-tested rotations. Furthermore, one of the teams WILL go on a tear, and that will be the team that wins.
The Phillies have that chance this week. I submit again, this week is the litmus test for the Phils' playoff chances. 7-3 and it's much more likely. 6-4 and it stays status quo. 5-5 and they're in danger. Lower than 5-5 and they're pretty much toast.
The Eagles need Bell & Lieberthal to continue occasionally contributing to the offense, and they need Rollins to STOP SUCKING ASS. He's a seriously awful lead-off hitter IMO. If you can't get your lead-off hitter on base, you suck.

Freudian slip, FF? :D
I understand both the Marlins and Astros have better starting pitching staffs than the Phillies. However, if both those teams were any good, they wouldn't be behind the Phillies in the WC chance. Magically, you're offense (Astros dont have it) and bullpen (Marlins dont have it) count for something. The Phillies are neither bad or great in any of those three catogories. That sorta helps them.

Floyd pitched decent today. He had one bad inning. Not too shabby considering how sucky he was in AAA.
Too bad they couldn't score him any runs. Just like with Brito yesterday.
Good to see FLA and HOU lost.
Floyd made the one mistake to Schnieder, thats it. He actually pitched very considering what happened to him this year. I wasn't expecting much, and ended up being very impressed. If Tejeda and Lidle can get back, Brito and Floyd can be valuble options out of the bullpen this month. This could enable Manuel to pinch hit early and go to a Brito or Floyd in the pen for two innings. We shall see how it plays it out.
For now, its time to beat the Astros. They can't score runs. Sweep!

Roger Clemens (11-6, 1.57)
Roy Oswalt (16-11, 2.91)
Andy Pettitte (13-9, 2.50)
Wandy Rodriguez (9-6, 5.94)
Ezequiel Astacio (2-6, 5.96)
Take out Wandy or Zeke and put Backe in..
Went straight from yahoo. Figures they'd have it screwed up. ;)
Ahh... just got off the DL:
Brandon Backe (8-7, 4.93), probably in place of Astacio.

Oh, young Grasshopper... your optimism belies your youth. :D
I just get to angry and frusturated thinking about this team. So, I just shrug my shoulders and move on to the next day.

I agree. I want the Phils to win more than anything short of a Super Bowl victory for the Eagles (and, of course, my family), even just to recapture a taste of the magic that was the 1980 season (or, for you, maybe 1993). It will never be the same again, and I will never be 9 again, but every time the Phils are in the postseason I relive a little bit of that magic.
That said, pitching is paramount in the drive to make the playoffs. The Phils have the most potent (if inconsistent) offense, and maybe a bullpen on par with Houston. However, the discrepancy in starting pitching is what will kill the Phils. They have nothing that will even resemble Willis-Burkett-Burnett or Clemens-Oswalt-Pettitte. Those triumverates are the foundations of a playoff-caliber team, and while Myers is rounding into form nicely for the Phils, he is still not a true ace (he may be in future years, but he is still a bit inconsistent, as my fantasy stats will tell you ;)). A healthy Wolf may have turned this race in favor of the Phils, but a top three of Myers-Lieber-Padilla is not one in which I would want to lay a foundation. Myers has been good, Lieber has been mediocre, and Padilla has been inconsistent. You KNOW that 80% of the time you are going to get a quality start from the Marlins or Astros. Other than Myers, it's a 50-50 shot at best.
:boom
Post the choking dog pic, Romey. Everytime you get pissed and post that the Phils seem to win. Post it. :P
Mets/Braves on ESPN at 1pm. Fish/Nats also starts at 1...
Nats beat the Marlins 5-2.
Braves beat the Mets 4-2.
The Fightins have to take care of business tonight- put some small shread of distance between themselves and the pack.
I'd give Utley a night off, he looks real tired out there and it can't hurt that were facing Andy Pettitte.
Go: JMike-Rollins-Abreu-Burrell-Bell-Howard-Martinez-Loserthal-Meyeres
Tonight's Matchup:
Houston: Andy Pettitte (13-9, 2.50)
Fightins: Brett Myers (12-6, 3.51)
Phils's Lineup:
J. Rollins ss .261
J. Michaels cf .311
B. Abreu rf .294
P. Burrell lf .283
C. Utley 2b .287
D. Bell 3b .246
M. Lieberthal c .254
T. Perez 1b .248
B. Myers p .115
Myers in the lineup, Howard out.
This is a game the Phils have to win. This is the time for Myers to truly take on the mantle of the Phils' "ace." Yes, he's been their best pitcher this season, and perhaps is an ace in training, but this is the time that a pitcher stakes a claim to that title for himself. This is a must-win, as the next two pitching match-ups are the following:
TUE: Roy Oswalt vs. Jon Lieber
WED: Brandon Backe vs. Vincente Padilla
It's time for Myers to take the team on his shoulders and begin to pitch them into the postseason.
GO PHILS! :paranoid
I was hoping the Phils would get to face Clemens. I've got no problem with them winning a game 1-0. ;D
Perez sucks. Martinez is better. Start him at first.

Through the first 9 batters, only Myers has reached base and only Utley has hit the ball out of the infield. Stellar. :boo

Lidge's slider is nasty. I got to meet him one time and they let me try to hit off him. Im not a bad baseball player at all, but that thing almost made me cry.
They battled back nicely, but Manuel is a moron. Pinch hits Michael Tucker for Michaels. Lets the game come down to freaking Endy Chavez. I knew it was over. Dancy had to send Kata there, hope for a bad throw or something. Chavez blows. Where was (sigh) Ramon Martinez or Todd Pratt? Manuel sucks. I hate this team. They kill me.

phillies are awesome.
They invent new ways to lose. I'm about to kill myself watching this team.
I'm not very mad about this loss.
They're .5 back and they have a ton of games left against WC teams.
They'll win the next two.
I had no beef with Tucker PH'ing.
Myers settled down. That error by Mr. Jagoff was the tone setter for that inning. Retire Taveras and they don't score.
I do agree with what Marz said on the PGL though...Endy should've PR for Howard. Not Kata. Endy scores on Jimmy's double. And F Jimmy for smoking that ball...if it is a corner rattler Kata scores. :-D
And nice to see Bill Dancy get smart now. Where was that stop sign earlier?
Oh well. Not the end of the world. But I'm not going to listen to the radio tonight because I bet people are jumping from the Benny Frank and Whitman.
I was extreamly pissed off after this one, but I've calmed down. We gotta win the next two and things will be okay.
I found a little sense of comfort in the fact that Myers was awesome after the 1st inning. He could've imploded but he only gave up 1 hit after that.
I also loved Victorino's AB against Lidge. He looked better than Endy.
Tell that to Wade and Manuel. How Chavez is still on a major league team is a joke. He can do nothing. Ugh. Just move on to tommorrow, we can still take 2/3.
Oswalt :(
Lieber at CBP :( :(

Still 1-0 Astros. Oswalt is looking like the second coming of Cy Young out there. He's thrown 22 pitches in three innings, 20 of which have been strikes.

Offense is in fine form!
Phillies offense sucking lots of dick tonight.
W0()t!
Ryan Howard ties it up with a dinger to right-center.
Twas a HR to left center. And one that would only be out at this little league ballpark.
Now it's Wagner's turn to choke one away.
2-1 Astros off a walk, two steals and a solid single to left.
This team blows and is filled to the brim with choking dogs.

I honestly can't take much more of this. I'm ready to drive to Philly and start tossing sticks of dynamite at those choking bitches the moment they exit their gilded palace.
It's like they draw straws before the game to decide which one of them gets to blow the game.
The shtein from Rollins was ridiculous but giving up three stolen bases in one inning? Come on.
Like I said... LOSERS.
I predict they will not have the wild card lead again for the remainder of the season.
And I predict this guy would punch their faces in if he played for the Phillies.

Hello, I'm looking for Bobby Abreu. Anyone seen him? No? How about Pat? Pat Burrell? Big guy that can't hit anything off-speed? Oh, because I thought maybe they'd show up THIS September, since they didn't show up last year....or the year before that....or the year before that...or....
F it....
How 'bout everyones boy Chase Utley. Take away that 2 HR game and he has done NOTHING this month.
5th straight year of choking. Abreu, Rollins, Burrell and Lieberthal were here for all of 'em... >:(
Wheeler & Anderson were discussing Chase tonight and actually made a good point. He's never played a full six month season and playing 4 1/2 or 5 months of baseball is entirely different in their opinion.
It sounded like they were making excuses for his pretty substantial tail-off but you never know. Maybe the kid could use a couple days off to clear his head and get back in the game?

Why does Wagner want to resign here?
They're all pressing now because the heat's definitely on. That's why they're choking. Any team can run off 10 straight wins in June but the really good ones turn it on in September.
The bottom line is if they don't make it to the playoffs, the core of the team has to be broken apart.
That will mean five more years of rebuilding and failed promises from the cocksmokers who own and run the team.
PS: I don't know if I want Wagner at $8M per year. Urbina would come cheaper (even though he's a choker himself) and they could use the dough to get a legitimate ace.

He's hitting .230 since July 31st.
And although I love him and Howard, both have come up empty the last two nights despite Howard going oppo off of Oswalt. And Abreu's run production is down. And one of the reasons is because James Calvin Rollins isn't getting on base.
I was close to suicide last night.
Oh, and someone tell Todd Pratt that there is no pump-faking in baseball. THROW THE FARGING BALL YOU VADGE!
And his two swings off of Lidge were worse than Endy's last night. Endy made contact...Pratt swings at a 57ft slider and looks like a dope.
Hold me.
:-D
Everyone wanted to talk about how Houston didn't have the offense to win?
Here's how our lineup is doing in August and September:
Rollins: 1-6-.188 Aug, 0-1-.214 Sept
Lofton: 1-2-.261 Aug, 0-0-.300 Sept / Michaels 0-4-.341 Aug, 0-1-.412 Sept
Abreu: 4-22-.320 Aug, 0-2-.227 Sept
Burrell: 6-22-.280 Aug, 1-1-.200 Sept
Utley: 6-19-.232 Aug, 0-0-.083 Sept
Howard: 5-16-.307 Aug, 3-4-.238 Sept
Bell: 0-6-.202 Aug, 2-7-.292 Sept
Lieberthal: 2-9-.338 Aug, 0-2-.273 Sept / Pratt: 2-2-.286 Aug, 0-0-.273 Sept
Some observations:
1. I would agree that Utley looks tired lately, and is mired in the worst slump I've seen him in. He struck out looking on a hanging curve that should have been lined into left center with the bases loaded last night (I laughed when the Astros announcers slobbered over the "terrridic back-door curve" from Oswalt. Right now he's 2-for-24 in September. But, who starts in his stead? Martinez? Perez?
2. Jason Michaels has been a monster for the last two months. He should be playing more.
3. Todd Pratt only knocks in runs on solo homers?
4. EVERY Phillie is down in September thus far except: Michaels, Bell and Rollins (who still is playing poorly).
5. Every Phillie is below .250 for September except the two platoons (Lofton/Michaels and Lieberthal/Pratt) and Bell.
Unrelated to these stats, but the Phillies for the past several years always has ONE team that they just cannot beat for some reason. Under Bowa, that team was ususally the Marlins, but this year it is the Astros. Thus far, they're 0-5 versus Houston, and every game but one was by one run. Even split those games, and the Phils still lead the WC. Lose to Houston again today, that could be "all she wrote." :boom
This team is exasperating.
And, Romey, the Phils can't blow up the team. They've got money already committed to: Abreu, Burrell, Liberthal, Bell, Rollins for next season. Unless they look to trade, these guys are all on the team next year, and except for Lieberthal, for the next several years.
As for pitching, I believe that Lieber and Lidle are on board next season, but I am not certain. Wolf is due back sometime next season, probably around the All-Star Break.
Phillies suck. :-D

Did Eddie visit the fact that Bell is
fielding about .300 as well?
David Bell is hitting .259 (7-27) this month with an OPS not over .700. He hit .202 last month. His best month was May, where he hit .295. After that, it was all downhill. He sucks ass.
He has 19 errors and a .947 fielding percetage, which puts just behind Troy Glaus as the worst defensive third basemen in baseball. Okay, so he's not the worst....he's the second worst. He sucks ass.
This guy blows. I wish the dopes on WIP would know how to access simple statsitical websites and have the proof to defute the garbage Wade says. Bell has 1 positive: he can hit LHP well. Thats it. So, he is a platoon player with an awful glove. Great.

1. Taveras was out on that play. And he hit a soft roller that anyone else would've been out by a mile on. Its not like he gave up a line shot there. The guy made contact.
2. Biggio doesn't come up if Davina Bell fields the ball.
I do not understand the angst (not you) towards Wagner. WIP is ripping him. Other Phils fans on other MBs rip him. Why? The guy didn't blow a save since May 24th until last night! He is the least of this teams problems.
Crackhead Rhea cries because "he rips the fans for booing". Hogwash. He's outspoken and right. And for a city who likes to talk tough some folks sure get thin skin when the athletes shoot back.

Phreak... he's gagged it up twice in two nights in the most important games of the season.
Wagner served up the tater, not David Bell. Does Bell suck? Yes. But his teammate could have bailed him out. Unfortuately for them and all of us, he didn't, so here we are.
It doesn't matter anyway. That team is the most heartless, gutless bunch of candyasses I've ever seen. They have talent out the kazoo yet somehow they always find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
The entire organization needs a complete overhaul. Ownership, management and players all share in the the yearly freefall in September so blaming Bell or Wagner or any other single player for the failings of an entire organization is pointless at best.
Thank Goodness football starts and the focus will be off the Phils. The past 5 games have been sad....
I am not saying Wags shouldn't be ripped for giving up the bomb to Biggio. But my point is if that stinky vadge Bell fields the ball...no discussion at all. And if Todd Pratt can actually throw a guy out (he had TWO shots at Bruntlett)..no discussion.
He's be money all year long except for the last two nights and a few times early in the year. Every closers gets victimized here and there except for Gagne's amazing streak awhile ago. Last night was Wags turn to give one up. But it should've never gotten to that point because that farging loser should've made the goddamn play.
We should also be talking about the other dumbshtein...Bill Dancy. He got Bell hosed by 47 feet on Victorino's single. That guy farging blows too. Dancy & Bell...losers.
phillies fans are outright frontrunners. everyone knows and sees that. and i think it's deserved, the team (not the players, the organization) put this on themselves.
last night, the lost the game in the 8th. bases loaded 1 out, and only score one. the first force at home was the killer. no one on this team can be a situational hitter. i dont even remember who it was that grounded to 1st. but a fly to right scores 1 and moves a guy to third.
and then that farghead dancy who sends bell on a single from second (the same farghead who doesnt send kada on the double two nights ago.
any good baseball team ends that inning with at least 2 runs scored

Our choices were: Watch & care about the Phillies
< or > watch and care about women's professional basketball.
Tough pick, I know...
:-\
WNBA it is.
Ready to sweep the Fish? :P
:-D We do miss Beckett and Willis this time around.
A sweep definatley puts me back on the bandwagon. 2/3 will have me lurking.
David Bell rulz.
I'm on the bandwagon for the rest of the year if they sweep the Marlins, but this is their last chance.
2/3 and I'm still convinced they suck.
I'd take 2/3. If it leads to 3/4 from the dirty Braves, thats a (gasp) 5-5 homestand! Mediocre indeed.
They will do no better than split with the Bravvos regardless. They need to sweep the Fish.
But they won't. Because they suck.

farg the Phillies. The Eagles season starts in three days.
Bell makes no sense when he talks
Quote"At the end of this month we'll know if we're good enough - which I think we are - or if we're not," Bell said.
So does Burrell
Quote"Games like [Wednesday's] are tough to get over. It's good to have a day to think about it," Burrell said. "Or not."

Calm down there, collar police.
a "few"..
third base, center field, catcher, pitcher #1 pitcher #2 pitcher #3 pitcher #4. a leadoff man.
third base coach. gm. owners. ball park. leylands the second coming of jesus christ. ok noted.
3 days and anything about baseball doesn't even register. unless im watching some of those USA softball chicks. mmm
Same lineup as always tonight.
No panic in Phillies.
Rollins singles to lead off...
advances to 2nd on WP
steals 3rd
Utley triples him home
1-0 Phils 1 out b1st
World Series back in sight.
Abreu K'd, Burrell walked and Howard K'd...they get no mo' runs.
I see they're wearing the Red Cross stickers on their helmets. At first I thought it was only the Phillies doing it. And it is fitting that they'd need help from the RC. Donate clutch hits. Call 1-800-RUNS-NOW.
:-D :-D
Single, SB, walk, single, error on Abreu
1-1 Phils
INF in, Rollins throws high to the plate
2-1 Marlins
runners on 1st & 3rd 1 out
Phillies blow. No mo series.
Rollins walks
Lofton doubles to LF (shocked Conine didn't catch it...since he catches everything against us)
Rollins scores
4-2 Fish...runner on 2nd...0 outs t3rd
Burrell 2R double
4-4 tie game
Burrell at 100 RBI
Wait, I think I'm starting to care about the Phillies again.
Nope. It was just gas.
:-\
Oh my....
Ryan Howard just hit the hardest hit HR on a line shot that I have ever seen. He SMOKED a LINE DRIVE HR into the bullpen in RCF.
6-4 Phils.
RYAN HOWARD GONE!! 6-4!
I know they're going to break our hearts but at least they're showing an effort doing it :P :yay
Ryan Howard is still a freak. What is that, 7 HRs the last 11 games?
I want Thome back.
Am I a bad person for being sad that Bell wasn't hurt when he got HBP? :paranoid
I want him to die. What do you mean, bad?
Then his hot wife would be a free agent.
Howard shoud win ROY...but that loser Francouer will win it probably.
If the Sillies can stick in this chase 'till the last week, he can definatley do it. Or he should be able to.
Your boy just got an RBI single
Oh those tricky Phillies. They're just seeing how big of a lead they can blow this game.
OR they'll sweep the Marlins, retake the WC lead, and then get swept by the Reds. Pick your poison.
Or they'll win the World Series and David Bell will be the MVP.
Oh yeah, wonder how I forgot about the most plausible option. ???
Bell/Lieberthal CO-MVP Phreak, get it right.
:evil
Bell is god. What have I been telling you? :-D
Interesting to see how this game plays out. 3 run game, I would attempt to work it out so you don't use all three of the "big boys." That is, if everyone does the job......as Geary comes in now. But, he will only go 1 inning.
Bell just made a good stop at 3rd...WHERE WAS THAT ON WEDNESDAY YOU PRICK?
Which candyass bitch of a reliever is going to blow it tonight?
Cormier
Madson
Ugie

Steve Bedrosian
I'm betting it's Bedrock.

Chris Wheeler is a clown..did you guys just hear him hissing on the air? What a douche. :-D
Serious question: Could Mike Lieberthal throw out Shawn Andrews if Shawn tried to steal 2nd on him?
Loserthal has the 3rd worst CS% in the majors, and the worst in the NL.
I can't remember the last team he threw someone out.
Jeez, things goin right now. 11-4 after Pat's long HR.
BURRELL WITH A 2 RUN SHOT!!!

Eude Brito will start tuesday against the Braves. Got the call over Floyd because the Braves have seen Floyd a few times before, and roughed him up.
Rob Tejeda did throw this week and might be able to come back next week.
I'm reading on PhilaPhans that WIP reported that Vicente Padilla is out for the year with a rib injury. :o
Brito to pitch on Monday and Floyd to pitch on Tuesday.
Farg. >:(
Only a WIP report....nothing else on it. No mention on pregame show or from any other news outlet.

I hate Conine...Bobby slides to catch it but Delgado scores.
Now another basehit and Burrell slides to stop it and misses it. Conine scores.
3-2 now.
Conine destroys the Phillies. Its stick.
Wheels says that Charlie said Padilla will miss his next start. Nothing about being done for the year though.
Yup. Were lookin at Brito, Floyd, Lidle, Myers for that series. Offense needs to step the farg up.

Yea, 2 days in a row he's had a big hit. Howard, meanwhile, gets an 0-2 strike called a ball and eventually walks.
(On duty) but it says on gamecast that Lieby homered to 'deep left center' :paranoid
Loserthal hits 2r HR.
6-4 Phils top 6.
I see the Bums are losing again. 7-6
Rollins got picked off first base on a 3-0 count after the guy walked him on 4 pitches. Why he was even looking to steal a base until the pitcher threw a strike is beyond me. Michaels followed with a walk, then he hit Abreu. 2 on, 2 out. Todd Jones in for a 4 out save attempt.
Stick. Fork. Done.
Win tommorrow things okay. Need 3/4 from Atlanta, too.

burrell 3r hr
6-1 sillies

11-1 phils. Houston still down, but now its 4-2
Houston with a 4-2 loss.

Phi .5
Fla .5
Could be interesting. We do need some breathing room facing Willis and Beckett this weekend.
So I'm looking over the boxscore to get an idea what went on...

July: 2-1 5.02
August: 2-2, 4.30
He's been better his past couple of starts, though, and seeing the sporadic Phils' offense would fit his pitching style to a T.
The Phillies wasted their offense in the 2 games they won against the Fish.

I am not comfortable with Tejeda coming out of the pen. The guy gives good innings every time he's out there. Why lose a quality starter for us right now that could take us deep into games? He also doesn't seem to get fazed by walking batters, bad calls or getting hit.
QuotePhillies Notes | Pitchers Padilla, Tejeda are ready to return
Help is headed the Phillies' way.
Righthander Vicente Padilla, who missed his last start because of a strained muscle in his rib cage, will start Saturday against the Florida Marlins in Miami. Righthander Robinson Tejeda, who hasn't pitched since Aug. 30 because of inflammation in his right shoulder, will be available in the bullpen tomorrow.
Pitching coach Rich Dubee said Tejeda would remain in the bullpen for the rest of the season. Dubee said it would take too much time to get Tejeda's pitch count up to a point where he could start. Rookie lefthander Eude Brito, who has pitched well in three starts, is expected to remain in the rotation.
"That decision was going to be made anyway," said Dubee when asked if Brito's effectiveness in his three starts made it easier to put Tejeda in the bullpen. "It's nice that Eude's thrown that well, yeah. But that's the direction we would have had to go anyway, because we just didn't have enough time."
Tejeda said he would prefer to start, but the rookie seemed OK with the decision.
Manager Charlie Manuel had indicated as late as Monday that Padilla could miss at least one more start. But Dubee said Padilla improved quickly.
The Phillies have a big weekend series against the Marlins at Dolphins Stadium, so it certainly helps to have Padilla back. Jon Lieber (14-12, 4.42 ERA) will face Ismael Valdez (2-2, 5.36) on Friday, Padilla (8-12, 4.67) will face Dontrelle Willis (21-8, 2.49) on Saturday, and Brito (1-0, 1.72) is expected to face Josh Beckett (13-8, 3.58 entering last night's start in Houston) on Sunday. If Padilla had been unable to pitch, the Phillies would have had Brito and Gavin Floyd face Willis and Beckett.
They still need to SWEEP the Braves for me to hop back on the bandwagon.

Padilla starts saturday, Brito sunday. Floyd back to pen for mop up.
Tejeda gonna be used out of pen starting thursday. Please use him in meaningful roles. Please. He's good.
Floyd back in the pen? Isn't that what screwed him up earlier in the year?
