Nice boost for the whole Eagles offense here as Jonathan Babineaux suffered a partially torn MCL and is out 3-5 weeks.
If Corey Peters stays out this week as well even better.
Shame on you...being happy for injury of an opposing player.
Babineaux is an exception. I seem to recall a dirty hit on McNabb when he was a rookie.
shtein i sometimes root for certain eagles to get hurt....farg an opponent
Not sure about this one, ATL has been a good team but were raped by Da Bears last week. They could either be fired up after that, or not. My guess would be 50/50 a narrow win for us, or a blowout loss.

Does michaels have money on the Falcons?
"Through the middle he gooooooooooooes!"
lol @ samuel and chaney there trying to tackle.
i wonder what the white supremacist board thinks about this game
nevermind, samuel didn't try to tackle.
The linebackers are just non-existent. Can't tackle, can't cover, and otherwise can't play a lick.

I have money on the Falcons. I don't even play fantasy football, but I picked up Gonzalez and Turner this week..
Vick gets hurt and our D rolls over. Nice job. 1-1 like the Cowboys..
HAH! The other CF. Forgot all about it.

they arent good....we knew this going into the season....eagles are going to have to outscore good teams to win this year
unfortunately vick has not been very good this year which is the major concern....the defense is what it is
this game is now over with kafka at the helm
The defense is good...if you are throwing to a WR.
Outside of that, it is awful.
Vick comes out like Willis Reed and the Eagles win?
lol farg you ref throwing it after he's run by.
More flags there than at Arlington.
What a great return to watch, right up until that yellow flag goes flying by.
farging Colt Anderson
Luckily we gifted them a 21 point swing at the end of the half. The touchdown from Fat farg's inability to challenge is the worst part.
I can't believe they called that bullshtein.
Mike Kafka show
now eat up some clock motherfargers
Nice throw there.
I smell a second round pick! :deion
Bench Vick!!!
Choke on that funholea.
That fargin turf is a disgrace.
michael kafka
Another helmet to helmet hit.
whew
So how do they farg this up and kill all our hopes and dreams? Fumble? Pick? Turnover on downs? Kafka gets decapitated?
northwestern university graduate mike kafka
The Eagles always lose this game.
Kafka gets decapitated, Avant comes in and throws the winning score to Celek
HOF Kafka?
kafka will get sacked putting them in 3rd or 4th and huge distance an they will turn it over on downs
What a waste of a 3rd down.
Ok, now that was a stupid play call.
Everyone in the building knew that was coming, Andy.
a fg?
lol
and then he says they burned another timeout....they didnt burn anything....theres tons of time
god michaels is a moron
JESUS fargING CHRIST with the WR screen with maclin again.WTF!?
Maclin's screen worked once... so let's try it every third down.
What the farg do you throw here?

ugggggggggh

shoulda coulda woulda
inexcusable loss
terrible
Turnovers hurt, but they overcame them. The defense couldn't get a stop the last 2 times out on the field.
A Signature win??? The eagles gave the game away and we didn't have our farging qb for a quarter and change. Shut the farg up... Desean miracle time?
What are you a farging retard?

still can't believe he dropped that wtf.
Almost got my hopes up on that punt.
They were down 4 then too idiot. Shut up. Go away.
He should have fumbled the punt. Dummy
Ugh. It almost looked like it. Almost.
Atleast Maclin won be two fantasy games.
Well... That sucked.
nice red zone defense Juan you farging cvnt
Where's the trail guy on the hail mary to catch the deflection. DAMN YOU ANDY REID!
Seriously...that loss is on the defense, then further down the line Vick's turnovers, and then a lot further down the line Jeremy Maclin. Kafka came in and performed decent enough.

When the announcers asked if they'd kick a field goal on 4th.. that would have put the Eagles down one, if Desean returned it another 8 yards that's field goal range... really not that difficult to comprehend.
god i do not want to touch WIP right now

The loss is on the coaches. They left the zesty linebackers and safeties on Gonzales the whole game. Andy Reid fails to challenge in the first half costing us seven points.
Get used to it. Offensive coordinators all over the league are licking their chops right now knowing this shteinbag defense is gash worthy at any second.
Dream Team my white Irish ass.
i want to know what happened to the defense outside of the red zone in the 4th quarter though. it appeared that Matt Ryan had started audibling on every play and he was eating them up. they obviously figured something out that they could read at the line and change the play.
oh and Tony Gonzalez killed them BECAUSE THEIR LINEBACKERS fargING BLOW
The 65 yard run was all on the linebackers, Sunny. Casey Matthews better never see another start as far as I'm concerned.
He's worse than awful.
absolutely, he totally missed the whole and got walled off. the farging kid can't play middle linebacker. once again, the genius eagles are jamming a square peg into a round whole.

going to the no huddle was a brilliant strategy because it nullified the pass rush by wearing out the d line....they were spent and got very little pressure in the 4th quarter
6 catches for Falcons' WRs and 35 points. That will be the Eagles D all year. Why throw at a WR ever when you are given 15 yards to a TE all game?
It's so funny because they spend a trillion dollars on the defensive secondary and defensive line and totally ignored the one set of positions where they had absolutely no one of value. Their shortsightedness and arrogant presumption are infuriating.

the awful 4th quarter totally negates some great performances by Nnamdi, Assante, Cole, and Jenkins. the farging dline is scary, but the linebackers are going to negate that the entire season.
Can they trade Kafka straight up for a linebacker?
by the way, they did a good job of working Kafka into the game with runs and quick throws. then he makes the great throw to Maclin down the field. then, they didn't try another goddamn thrown down the field, they just did more bubble screen bullshtein.

Well, when you've got an offense built for the big play, you don't want to go trying it all the time. You stick to the WR screens to build confidence in the new QB and make the receivers afraid of getting hit.
I don't mean to go all IGY here but this group of linebackers might be the worst I've ever seen on the Eagles. They don't have a shred of athletic ability. They're all weak and undersized and slow as farg. I can't believe Stewie or even Ernie Sims would be this dreadful.
what lost them the game was not the d....they gave away way too many offensive red zone pts...and in general left to many pts on the field....awful drops....killer turnovers ect...
the d is not a suprise and its going to be like this most of the year....score five more pts and you win

some aspects are not a surprise, but when you give up 5 for 5 in the redzone, you have to take some blame. you have to force a field goal on at least one of them

what you said is exactly my issue. reid puts 11 personnel on the field, crams the middle blocking his view and has 2 receivers and a te running routes on a roll out.
the defense plays their personnel off of what the eagles sub in the huddle. if the eagles come out 4-5 wide, the defense has to put their nickle out there. that opens the field for him to see with less pressure. if you spread it out with multiple receivers you can run some short hook routes to at least give him the option.

Just watched NFL Network highlights.
1. What in the hell was the fat farg thinking not challenging that Atlanta interception that clearly hit the ground?
2. Kafka looked very good. Loud dome on the road, he was clutch.
3. I can't wait until that little cheap shot artist farg face Robinson gets his. Hope he ends up decapitated.
1.The Eagles D was exposed. At times, like on the Falcons last drive, it looked like there weren't any linebackers on the field. Turner was running in wide open spaces. It was ridiculously embarrassing. As good as the corners and pass rush can be, if you can't stop the run any better than that it's gonna' be a long season.
This from Mike Smith on Robinson's hit,
QuoteFalcons coach Mike Smith disputed it was illegal hit, saying "that's the way we teach it,"
link (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/gametracker/recap/NFL_20110918_PHI@ATL)
Oh really? If there was any doubt about his hit on Pimp, theres none this time, lowering his head and almost launching. Big fine a comin'.
3. Kafka gets props. He came in under about as much pressure as possible and preformed well, if not for Maclin's drop could very well have won the game.
4. Vick played well but needs to protect the ball, the fumble after his run he was carrying the ball like a six pack. And say what you want about the int hittin' the ground, it was a piss poor pass.
4. It's hard to say anything bad about Maclin, but damn. One play put a damper on his performance that's not seen in the box score.
To me it looked like the defense wore down at the end of the game. I think losing Parker and not having Tapp really hurt them.
As far as losses go it could be worse.
The Eagles should have been up a lot more than they were when Vick went out for numerous reasons that have already been stated. Also, the defense played great in the middle of the game and in the middle of the field, but came up really small in the 4th quarter and in the red zone. And the team lost the 2nd game of the season to a pretty good team, on the road, by only 4 points.
Pretty sure this isn't a catastrophe. Now root for the Giants to win tonight (but ugly), because if they start out 0-2, they will be playing desperate ball next week against an Eagles team likely QB'd by Mike Kafka.
So the Eagles have a 6'2 CB who can cover so why not stick DRC on Tony Gonzales instead of sticking Chaney/Page with that assignment? Even if the Falcons come out with a 3 WR set you're better off matching the safety on that guy rather than having DRC wasted on covering him.
the problem is and atlanta was smart in doing this is that gonzalez was getting most of his catches out of four and sometimes even five wide spreads....and theres no way you can put coleman or page on a wr in that scenario...a #3 wr is still a worse matchup than a HOF te for a slow ass safety
basically they are farged because they chose to ignore the lb and safety positions
From Jeff McLane:
Nnamdi said the original game plan had for him covering Gonzalez more often, but Castillo had to switch things up when DRC sprained his ankle.

How could you root for a division rival to win games out of fear of motivation for the following week? Team records are pretty important come playoff time, so I would much rather have the Giants 0-2. The whole desperate ball thing is overplayed. You either have the better team or you don't.
I'll take my chances with Young and even Kafka playing a very beat up and depleted Giants team.

That makes sense. I didn't see DRC for what seemed like the entire first half.
As far as last nights game goes, yeah I'm pissed this morning they didn't win. But anyone who watched that game knows the Eagles were the better team and should have one. I guess that fact makes me a little less upset.
Didn't seem to bother him when he was chasing down Turner in the 4th qtr. Of course, that was running straight, the issue with him may have been trying to plant and turn with a receiver. Still, at some point in that game you have to know that the lb's and safeties can't cover Gonzo and try something new. Worst that happens is you get burned....which was already happening to begin with.
The thing I'm most pissed about is that Vick is being careless with the football like he was in his Atl days. Obviously he's not going to have a stretch like last year when he went like 7 games/11 td's without a turnover, but very few qb's ever do. When he's out of the pocket running, he needs to tuck the ball away. He was just saying a few days ago how he played rb in high school....then farging carry the rock like a rb when you run dipshtein.
yeah i saw nothing wrong with rodgers cromartie the whole game
but even if he was hurt theres just no way you put assy on a te and page or coleman on a wr
if we know how much the eagle lb's and safties suck guess what....so does the rest of the league...and whats gonna happen is what happened last night....you are gonna spread out four or five wide with one of them often being the te to force the eagles to have to cover in space with a backer or safety...where it really hurt was in the 4th quarter where the DL was gassed and could no longer get any pressure on ryan
page is disgustingly slow and so unathletic when it comes to coming out of a break or turning his hips...i honestly dont know how he is getting run in the nfl

Think of how many times that phrase "The Eagles were the better team and should have won" could possibly be used this year with that lb core giving up huge plays late in games and in the red zone.
Shtein, I hope Reid called McDermott last night and apologized to him.
McDermott wouldn't have made a difference. Castillo is an easy scapegoat. Fault the FO for not investing in linebackers. Fault Reid for getting too cute around the goal line. Fault Vick for being careless with the football.
I really liked the amount of pressure the Eagles were getting last night without blitzing. The d-line is looking pretty legit on pass plays. But when they go to that 9 wide technique, any QB with a pulse should be smart enough to audible to a run right up the gut. If the Eagles even had so much as a quality MLB, it wouldn't be a major issue. But you get a rb through the hole and 1 on 1 (or even 1 on 2) with these LB's and it's going to be 8+ yds.

This is where having a OL coach as your defensive coordinator is messed up. Oh, and not having a linebacker that can cover since Carlos Emmons. Oh, and stop playing the wide technique on running downs. Use it on third and long. They better on the goal line when they actually try to stop the run.
They haven't even had their home opener and I'm already tired of watching these iceholes.
I'll get over it but the defense is gonna be a disaster all year long.

But just think of how excited you'll be when they draft another lineman in the first round and pick up a speedy 5'11 linebacker on day three!

I'm holding out hope that AR realizes that defensive scheme worked so well against us because we pass 80% of the time. I'm impressed by the line and the DB's. It may be early for the LB's to figure it out but they better soon because the Giants are going to run it up our asses.

he is what he is. the killer ints and the carrying the ball like a loaf of bread thing are never gonna stop
but he also makes a lot of super human plays. so you just have to hope the good outweighs the bad.
have no idea what you are watching but it stopped for like the first 8 games of last year....first seven games of his eagle career he had 1 td and 4 fumbles...last eight games 7 int and 12 fumbles
and if you look at him in atlanta hes never been close to this loose with the football
granted a lot of it has to do with him trying to be a real qb now and throwing the ball a lot more plus getting blitzed to death....but he has never coughed up the ball like he currently is nor should it be expected of him
im not sure if this includes when hes in the pocket but:
04--16 fumbles
05--11 fumbles
06--9 fumbles
10--11 fumbles
11--4 fumbles
obviously if he keeps this up hed break some records but hes never been amazing at holding onto the ball.
also you have to factor in last how many dropped INTs he had. it seemed like it was 1-2 a game.
he also had 9 in 02
none of those numbers jump out at you....he also was super protective of the ball in his first seven eagle games
in his last eight games hes had twelve fumbles and seven ints....thats not acceptable and nothing he has even done before in his career
i wont fight that
and the media slurping his discarded jizz rag up when he breaks off a 10 yard run to extend is a drive is beyond nauseating at this point, and perhaps contributes to everything. hes had everyone, dog fighting or not, tell him for decades how amazing he is.
even though hes an improved pocket passer and isnt playing madden anymore hes still gonna do what hes gonna do and hes still gonna have millions of people loving every second of it.
were locked into vick for the next handful of years. gots to deal with it. i mean its better than donovan. who was better than brad goebel.
I don't care how old, injured, and washed up they are, Tatapu, Julian Peterson, or Keith Bulluck are all better than any of our linebackers. Bring them all in.
Could have had Stephen Tulloch too - he is playing his ass off in DET
shtein, i'd kill for Mark Simoneau at this point
I'd like to see Stewie back, even if he wouldn't have been playing because of injuries.
this was always good times

even though i have to call him out for his mistakes im a 1000% vick lover so im gonna have to disagree with you here
i love him too, i just wish everyone would tone it down a notch or two with the guy
hes won exactly 2 playoff games and they both were something like 7 years ago.
stewie started for the cards yesterday against the skins.
while i dont worship at his alter and obviously will rip him i can see why people go nuts over him...i used to despise the hype as well but now seeing him play every week i cant really hate on people who overdue it with him because he does some stuff that i dont think we will ever see done again in this league
Vick wouldn't turn the ball over nearly as much if the line actually protected him once in awhile.

meh...I thought the line pass protected fine yesterday. The first fumble wasn't his fault...in fact I'd blame the play call. It's a goal line situation so why are they using deceptive plays. Goal line runs should be quick and straight ahead, not misdirection plays with pulling lineman.
The second fumble was 100% Vick's fault. If he could just be aware enough to tuck the ball away when he's beyond the line of scrimmage he could avoid those costly mistakes.
and teams realize that you can't sit back with vick so you have to blitz the shtein out of him. the line is never going to give him a clean pocket until teams stop sending 6 or 7 guys. It's on vick to recognize the pressure and hit hot reads, then teams will stop blitzing him
Feva looked like he had a blast in the ATL. Eagles fans were definitely out in full force too.

shtein, Bill Bergey's looking like a better option at this point.
C\/nta Robinson was fined $40k from the league.
Someone needs to go Steve Largent on his ass.
$40K for intentionally trying to injure someone.
A SECOND TIME.
The NFL is so bad ass.
He's lucky he didn't try to celebrate in the endzone.

QuoteWith the help of Michael Bolton and Akon, The Lonely Island did a montage of their 3 nominated songs last night during the Emmy awards, and farg you 'Family Guy'. This is all your fault. Somehow you've convinced people that just doing random shtein is the same as a joke, and it's not, and I farging hate you for it. I can only imagine how annoyed I'd be if I had actually watched this crap instead of football, and then squealing with delight as Mike Vick spit up blood. Hehehe. Nice pocket awareness, dipshtein.
Reason # ten gazillion that site is the best thing on the internet.
My quarterback got injured and I still laughed at that snarky icehole's mocking of Vick.

problem is the eagles cant run straight ahead....90% of shdays big runs come off of delays sweeps cuts backs ect...the interior of that line gets blown up every other play....thats why i dont have a huge problem with the that call...its the only way the eagles can run for a score down there....other than a designed rollout or run with vick...which is what i probably would have preferred in that spot...but if jeria doesnt make a great play shady can crawl in the end zone there
Even if the Eagles o-line doesn't get a great push it's still a safer bet running a power play in goal line than it is a slow developing play. That's what jumbo packages are for. You don't necessarily have to run it off center but something between the tackles should open up long enough for a back to squirt through. They don't make it and you try a different play. It's all predicated on what the interior D-lineman are going to do, which is shooting gaps.
andy has been running some version of that play down there for years....sometimes its out of the shotgun with a forward lateral...sometimes its a delay hand off...othertimes a fake throw then a hand off...this version was the fake pitch and the handoff...it generally works...this time it got blown up by a great play...im not saying it was a great call i just dont think it was a bad one...the results say otherwise and hindisght is 20/20 but i just dont think its something to harp on...trust me i wish they had the capability to power the ball in but the fact is they just dont
Out of shotgun is fine, if the lineman shoots the gap like they're coached to do Vick either takes off if there's space or throws it away. Slow developing plays goal line are risky at any level. It's worse at the NFL level because D-lineman are so quick. Counters, pulling guards, traps, fake pitches...risky because the D -line is coming into the backfield because there's such a short field.
I love the shuttle pass inside they do. In fact they execute that play in the redzone better than any team in NFL history.
I didn't see any of the game, but judging from the box score turnovers are more to blame than the defense.
that's probably why you should watch the games
Agreed....I wasn't even running errands. I blame General Tso
The defense figured out the Falcons early and clamped down outside of the red zone. The one interception that wasn't was HUGE, and Reid should have taken a calculated risk and challenged - but of course he didn't.
The problem was the defense lost it when Parker went out. Already without Tapp, Killa and Babin just aren't very good when they can't stay fresh and rotate. The defense got gassed and played like shtein from there on out.
Even when healthy, the team has weaknesses on run defense, covering the TE, and in the red zone... when not at full strength, they are simply bad in those areas.
The Eagles fired McDermott because during the last 2 years they were about the worst red zone defense in the league. Atl went 5-5 inside the 20.
about the worst in the league?
last year they had the worst red zone defense in the nfl since 1988
...and this year on pace to be worse. Go team!
