I cannot wait for this

The Harvey Keitel character is Angelo Bruno. Should be a nice little bit of Philly mob stuff in this one.

Yeah I'm glad the Philly side is getting some rep in the mafia flicks for once

hustlers - needs to be said at the top that jennifer lopez is just outrageous in this movie. there is no possible way she is 50. i dont care if she had work done or if her tits were new, she is just on a different level. also great in the movie. its a fun movie all in all. really well directed at points. but these characters are monsters. they are drugging people (douchebags, but) and stealing their money. they treat human beings like garbage because they all are garbage humans. a lot of this is played for laughs or youre left to empathize with them. i did not feel that. i wanted all of these people to burn. 3/5
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

phattymatty

is this based on those girls who got hurricane schwartz?

i think youre referring to john bolaris and no he was roofied by some russians or something...this is strippers in ny

the problem with this is that no one in movie history has ever successfully pulled off a philly accent...not sure many have even tried...its possible to mimic it in a word or a sentence but its impossible to do a whole movie in it

in fact the philliest of philly characters ever had a ny accent
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

PhillyPhreak54

Good point.

Its cool when I hear someone with the accent from back home.

Rome

Bradley Cooper playing Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy was pretty close.

parasite - saw this this morning and even this soon i am going to say this is one of the best movies i have ever seen....the class division commentary is heartbreaking and the story expertly told but its also a master class in techincal filmaking...the cinematography and the windows thru which the movie is shot are unlike almost anything ive ever seen and on par or better than any tarantino film...oh and its a comedy....or i guess tragicomedy but its really really funny.....go see it today

10/10

mr rogers - much weirder than you are thinking. like serveral hallucination scenes where matthew rhys becomes a puppet in mr rogers neighborhood. its told through rhys' perspective and there a few scenes that are preposterous but damn if tom hanks doesnt nail it and if the whole thing doesnt pull at your cold dead heart. not a good enough movie for oscar nom but tom hanks tom hanks tom hanks. 3/5

booksmart - the liberals really wanted this to be something it wasnt. not as funny as it think it is and tone wise all over the place. sometimes is a live action cartoon and sometimes its a realistic portrayal of gen z high school life. would 17 year old friends be a caricature of a twitter leftist? main love interest is an irredeemably awful person. weird statutory rape joke. lezbo sex with bras on. i could go on. 2/5

parasite - best film ive seen in quite a while. drama, triller, comedy, horror. so many types of films in one. easily better than last years best film, which was shoplifters. if you dont want to think about anything other than story/plot its a remarkable thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. but theres so much more to this and what it says about class, status, how we see and treat each other and society as a whole. saying anything else will ruin it. shot insanely well. the dad should be up for every best actor award. this is the one. see it. 5/5

late night - a fundamentally weird movie in a made up reality where a dyke-looking british lady is the queen of late night tv. emma thompson is playing a version of letterman, right down to her totally mailing in the show for the last decade. they nailed the writers room and the boorish male chauvinism that encompasses it, but they did nothing to make emma thompson being a comedic genius legend make any iota of sense. also she was made to look like a sweedish lesbian but was married to jon lithgow and had an affair with a dude and i dont know. theres some heavy handed liberal multi culturalism at the end that was too much even for me. 1.5/5

us - is this a horror movie? i dont watch horror and maybe the theater experience wouldve been "scarier" but there was none of that there. it was an interesting movie with a cute twist but you cant help but compare everything jordan peele does to get out, which had something to say and was wildly original and thought provoking. this was a fun one for horror fans but thats as far as it went. 2.5/5

Munson

I thought the message behind Us was pretty good from a class/race angle. A little bit more clunky and on the nose than Get Out but I still enjoyed it.

It was definitely a little bit creepy in the movie theater, but not as creepy as Get Out was.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

PhillyPhreak54

The Irishman is out and I cannot wait to watch it tonight

PhillyPhreak54

Great movie.

I think Pacino stole the screen. Their ages were CGI'd to make them younger which I liked. It allowed their characters to retain their personalities but you could still tell they're old in their movements.

Is it better than Goodfellas or Casino? No. But it's on the level with them.
