Classic Andy Reid pick.  I literally LOL'd at it when I saw him.
Title: Re: Dennis Kelly, Philadelphia Eagle
Post by: BigEd76 on April 28, 2012, 02:58:01 PM
QuoteStrengths
He looks the part with a huge frame and is one of the largest tackles in the draft this year, plays through the whistle in the running game and is one of the more aggressive tackles out there. He tends to lock into his defender and keep them out of the play.

Weaknesses
He has a tendency to be holding a lot of the time and his issues are that he gets beat because of inconsistent and inadequate technique in the pass protection game. He also tends to play too tall and in the running game doesn't get great leverage.

Overview
Kelly is a captain from Purdue and has the talent to play either the left or right side in the NFL as a reserve. He's not a top-tier talent, though, and is looking like a sixth- to seventh-round pick. He's a three-year starter, though, and experience will be useful for him in the NFL.

on the nfl.com draft ticker they list the player name - height - weight - college - player rating

this train wreck is the first player of the entire draft to have dashes listed for his height weight and rating

he might as well have not ever even played football

Based on rookie camp - which is a serious disclaimer - it might not be prudent to expect an early contribution from Dennis Kelly, the 6-8 offensive tackle from Purdue the Birds drafted in the fifth round. The big fella is struggling to block speed from the edge

Apparently it was Mudd who really liked this guy and lobbied for him. Possibly just after he came out of anesthesia. Mudd isn't at the rookie camp btw still recovering from his hip.

I read that line in the article and I knew you'd be making this EXACT post...

"He'll be fine as long as he's not asked to block..."
