Title: Expensive Watches - Rolex, Omega, Etc.
Post by: Rome on August 02, 2005, 01:36:02 PM
Are they worth the price?

1. Yes

2. No.

Just wondering.  I was thinking of buying a Rolex but I'm kind of reluctant to spend $4,000 on something I could get just as easily for $100.

Thoughts?

PS: All Jessica Alba photos are welcome here.   >:D

Also - since polls are gay, I made this a topic without poll choices.

Just a simple yes or no will suffice.

Thank you.   :)

i have a Tokyo Bay watch.  I'd much rather have that, then a $4k watch.  Then again, i don't much care for BLING.

$4000 for a watch? Are you farging nuts? you're going to break/lose it just like you would break/lose a $40 watch so why go through the stress and agrivation? This is so stupid it doesn't deserve any alba shots.

Eh...no.

Not unless you have nothing better to do with $4000.

shtein, I don't even wear a watch anymore.  My cell has a clock.

I already have an Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch, btw.

Thinking of adding to the collection, is all.  Maybe a Submariner or an Explorer II model in stainless steel.

Meh - some people spend dough on fancy cars or ski vacations to Europe, I like watches.

Also - I'll bet Jessica would like it.  Haters.

whats more interesting?

driving a fancy car?

a ski trip to europe?

or finding out what time it is?

No

I like antique watches though. I find old broken down watches and get them fixed up. I have a 60's vintage Timex that is self winding in my arm right now. Love it!! I also have a Benrus and an Italian Casio that is really nice. All antique. If my wife let me I'd have a drawer full of watches...

I don't spend more than four to six hundred dollars on a watch. They're cool enough to make friends and co-workers say wow, and fancy enough for the few rich people I know not to scoff me.

i prefer to make my friends and co-workders say "wow" by flexing my 12 inch pythons.

Why not, Dio?  You seem like a discriminating fellow.  I can understand the rest of these cretins not appreciating a fine time piece, but you??

Very disappointing, bro.  VERY.   :P

Nice. The only thing that would make the watch better is if it came with a year's supply of bacon and unlimited porn.

I looked it up.  It's made by Game Time and sells for $249.95 retail on sites all over the net.

Google "Game Time Sapphire Eagles Watch" if you're really concerned for my well-being.

Get used to being disappointed by me.  It's the only thing I do well.

I don't wear a watch.  And 4G is much better spent on motobikes.

Screw that - four grand is best spent on hookers, beer, and firetruck rentals

I bought the Eagles watch on Ebay!

$198.00 including shipping & no tax.

Anyone who spends more than that on a watch is a farging toolbag.

WAIT...you can rent firetrucks?

I don't wear a watch anymore since a cloce came free with my cell phone.

When I did wear them I was too lazy to change the battery so I just threw them out when they went dead, so I would be against spending more that $100 on a wrist weight.

When I was a kid growing up in Jenkintown, they used to give firetruck rides on July 4th for all the little kids.  We'd pile up on top of them and they'd drive around town with the lights flashing and the sirens blaring.

I think I was like 6 or 7 at the time.

Can you imagine them doing that today?

I think it depends.

I always wanted a really nice watch but I figured during college it was pointless with the stuff we did.  I stuck with Fossil and Kenneth Cole.  I did promise myself that once I graduated and got an actual job in an area I studied that I treat myself to a nice one.  I narrowed it down to a Movado and TAG.  I got the Movado 2 months ago.  It was 800 bucks but I got it online and an older model for 355.  My parents ended up paying for it for my 25th birthday in the end though.

So, I can see spending some money but I think 4gs is a lil pricey.  I doubt ill ever go that high unless Im making mid 6 figs, which I doubt will happen.

Wife bought me a really nice Tag Heuer as a gift earlier this summer, after she got a good bonus at work.  I think the price was circa $1500.  It's much more than I would have ever spent for myself on a watch.  I had a Citizen Eco-Drive for the last 5+ years that cost under $300, and I was happy with it.  Still, the Tag is a much nicer-looking watch and does keep better time.  I could never see myself spending even this much on a watch, but now that I have it, I love it.  That said, spending $4k+ on a Rolex is something I absolutely never want to do.

I'm way farging late...but that's my style.

farg $4000 on a watch...

I like Kenneth Cole...maximum price I pay is around $125 if I have to.

I'd rather spend it on a couple of suits,  two pairs of shoes, a coat and a few ties...and keep the rest.
