I guess I'm a bad liberal but I don't think the government should require private companies to provide paid family leave.  I think the government should provide it for all it's own employees, and require it of their contractors, which will help to set the market...but I can't get behind requiring that.  IRS (rightly) considers me middle class, but I don't make enough to pay myself that much leave, nevermind what I'd have to cover for an employee.  Rates would have to go way up  for me to be able to do that.
