Mrs. Rome got me The Doors: Live In Philadelphia, which is one of their remastered Bright Midnight releases, for Christmas.  It's farging phenomenal.

I like The Doors, but at the same time I can only listen to them in small doses and tire of them rather quickly.  I've never been able to listen to an entire album.  They're great when I've got my ipod on shuffle and I get one of their songs every hour or so.

The Doors have not aged well.   Their music is good--I particularly like the heavier bluesy, live stuff--but it is overly theatrical and smacks of its era more than I can stand after a song or two.  You can't talk late 60's/early 70's american rock and roll without talking about the Doors, but that's all they are at the end of the day.

The Kinks on the other hand...that's a band that doesn't age.

Dusting off some old school. Tower of Power - keep your monster on a leash. Usually not big on brass sections, but there's none tighter. Great stuff.

They still tour.  Out here not to long ago.  Bay Areas finest.
