Rumors coming out on a couple things
1. That the 18 game schedule will have some push from the NFL to the NFLPA. Two bye weeks.
Hope it doesn't happen. But if it does the players have only themselves to blame.
2. A few STs coaches pitched a new kickoff system where the kick off would now be at the opposing 40yd line and any onside kick would have to be declared ahead of time (dumb). This is to promote shorter higher kicks to encourage returns.
surprise onsides i feel like are a once a season thing? like they never happen, ever. im not opposed to the trade off it means more action on kicks.
the 18 game thing feels inevitable though yea i hate it. i wonder if they start the season a week earlier, do the 2nd bye, and that pushes SB weekend to presidents day and we all have the monday off. the other thing is if they extend it from its current start 2 weeks, it takes us to the 3rd weekend in february and limits the gap between football and baseball (or march madness) ok im in

Note that there won't be a new CBA for a while (the current one expires in 2030 and has no early trigger opt-out), and the current one is limited to 17 games. NFL media really hurting for content right now.
The 2026-2027 Super Bowl is currently scheduled for Valentine's Day. That oughta be interesting.
broncos eating $84 mil in cap and $35 mil in cash to get rid of ciara's weirdo husband
Weird situation.
A week ago it was floated he could end up back there.
Who gives him a shot next?
Raiders might be a good fit
He will sign with whoever will start him, and there will definitely be suitors because he'll be essentially free, rare for a starting QB. He's gonna make $39M (minus the new salary which could be the vet min) from the Broncos, so he'll go to whoever offers him the best opportunity to start and stay the starter. And though he's obviously fallen off a ton, he's still a starter in a league hurting for QB talent.
teams that need qbs: minny, tampa, atl, ne, pit, lv, wash, den
at least 2 of those teams will grab maye and daniels. 1 will grab either fields or williams. 1 will be on cuzzo, 1 will be on baker - both are ahead of russ
so thats 8 teams that need qbs and 5 ahead of russ. obviously denver is out. so pick 2 from that list - those 2 will have to decide between russ, a non top 3 qb or whatever else is out there.
maybe, maybe not for him to get a job. highly likely it would be until post draft. very well might be a situation where he is a replacement for a camp/early season qb injury
A lot of cuts today. The Bills whacked a ton of guys.
And as a whole there have been a lot of DBs cut
Teams have learned the lesson that the Eagles just learned. No matter what they've done for you in the recent past, no matter how much their names ring out around the league, old DBs are a problem.
Broncos trading Jeudy to Cleveland
For a 5th and a 6th round pick. He might do alright in Cleveland, with defenses paying close attention to Cooper, but I'd be that Steve Smith is right about Just A Guy Jeudy.
Mac Jones traded to Jacksonville according to Schefter for a 6th

The Steelers play the Broncos in Denver this season.
Looks like Pollard is signing with the Titans to replace Henry. Glad the birds stayed away he's mediocre at best

So Swift and Pollard each just signed 3Yr $24M deals....
I'll be interested to see the other RB deals in light of these today.

Those deals are richer than expected. Price of the brick goin up.
In general I'd have taken either of those guys over Saquon at a way higher number, but maybe Howie sensed the market was getting rich so he might as well land the biggest talent if he's gonna pay that much.
Josh Jacobs to the Packers
HOFCousins to Atlanta
YOU LIKE THAT
McKinney to the packers 4 years $68 million
feel like minnesota should trade jj
they are going nowhere fast and probably cant climb out of this for another 2-3 years when hell be 28. get a haul now.
Glad he didn't wind up in Dallas

No one calls Baltimore "the Queen City."
Cincinnati, yes. Plus another three dozen American cities. But Baltimore City is not on that list.
Another reason not to call Baltimore the Queen city

Yeah I don't even think that's like a rarely used nickname. Just a fargup. It's Cincy or Charlotte.
Bummer that the dream of Queen in green died but it was a long shot bc Howie wasn't gonna go that rogue and actually pay for a LB

It looked good to the AI that wrote it, and also to the AI that posted it, so here we are.
My company is balls deep in AI. It's way more human like than Schefter.
Howie probably already using it for roster construction.
I'm not someone who thinks Justin Fields has a great NFL career ahead of him, but after this past season, I do think he's probably one of the 32 best starting options for 2024. Wild how much his stock has fallen with the recent QB moves.
how much of it is the league things he sucks and how much of it is denver is really the only suitor
Titans are spending come cash.
They just gave Calvin Ridley $92M ($50M GTD). Thanks for being dumbfargs and not spending that on AJ a couple years ago.
Bobby Wagner to Washington for one year
aaron rodgers being a sandy hook truther isnt surprising...what is surprising is that he has been one since the og days
i assumed he was a smooth brained idiot who lost his mind during covid like so many others, but in the before times he seemed exceedingly intelligent and curious. he was a jeopardy nerd and went no contact with his lunatic fundy family. turns out he was red pilled all along.

lol I just posted the same thing
Total scumbag

Being pointed out on the socials that the Titans were +1800 to land Ridley. 🤔
lol I hope he bet it
Keenan Allen traded to the bears for a 4th
Wow -- Aaron Donald has retired.
Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on March 15, 2024, 12:13:34 PMWow -- Aaron Donald has retired.
I know he's talked about it the past few seasons but still a surprise
Good, sick of hearing about him.
Jimmy G to the Rams and Wentz is back on the bread lines.
Maybe he ends up in PIT
Donald could be inducted with three former Eagles if Julio and Peters don't find work.
Fields to the Steelers for a sixth round pick next year. Could escalate to a 4th round pick if he hits certain benchmarks.
I don't even like Justin Fields but playing backup to that cornball Russ seems like absolute hell. Poor guy.
The max the Bears can get in return is what the Niners got from the Cowboys for Trey Lance.
This is effectively the whole league declaring Fields worthless. It's crazy because he can accomplish some extremely high level plays when he's at his best. They have zero faith he will ever develop replacement level or better consistency.
Damn Chiefs traded Sneed to Tennessee for a 2024 7th and 2025 3rd
NFL has banned the hip drop tackle.
Hello stupid subjective flags in crunch time.

what is that?
so they banned tackling?
offensive stars are getting majorly injured from that type of tackle and the league runs on qbs + skill position talent being in the lineup
its a fine idea to kill it, but its going to likely be impossible to legislate and will result in some really dumb shtein happening. cant wait
I think they'll be specifically looking for the combo of both arms around, tackling player leaving his feet to transfer full body weight, and the swing around. Going to be tough to distinguish that in real time. Would be smart if year 1 was just after-the-fact fines and no in-game penalty, but this is the NFL.
Trade deadline was moved back a week so Howie has more time to think about his midseason awful trades
Wonder if they'll ever have set Xmas teams like they do for Thanksgiving
https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1772640872506556584
Agents got to be on the watch now for zesty contract language that attempts to penalize rookies for any penalties from a hip drop tackle. I recall the Bears trying something like that with Roquan Smith...
Quote from: SD on March 26, 2024, 11:47:53 AMWonder if they'll ever have set Xmas teams like they do for Thanksgiving
Why would they do that? The league clearly hates being saddled with the Lions, to the extent that they added a third Thanksgiving game where they have flexibility.

Rhetorical question I don't really give a shtein
the league will never lock in teams for christmas, theres been some talk of doing it for black friday but that means it would be the jets. sooo gonna say no there.
the 4 christmas teams will all play the prior saturday. i doubt the eagles are in this, but who the farg knows.
Hit and run with injuries while street racing your leased Lambo against....your own Corvette. SMH
Stefon Diggs to the Texans
Houston's going to be a force to be reckoned with
Yep - they have a strong skill group now and a good defense.
diggs is pretty much washed, but as a 3rd/4th option he aint gonna hurt the fightin' hentzs
Imma be like Havas would be if Wash won and cry real tears if they win a chip
Texans been around more than 20 years now in one of the biggest markets, it's about time for them to start stringing together some grown-up franchise seasons. If they somehow waste Stroud, it's never gonna happen for the McNairs.
Matt Ryan just retired. Kinda forgot that hadn't happened already.
lol yeah for real
He was announcing last season no?
i believe last year he took the tv job but was emphatic that his phone was on if anyone wanted to call. now hes turned his phone off.
28-3
His non-retirement was largely for show, as, if he formally retired, he wouldn't have gotten the balance of his Colts contract after they let him go.
Commas!
