Mostly it works just as well as McAfee and Symantec and is freeware.

No having to resubscribe to keep it up to date. And if you're worried about your anti-virus hogging valuable resources, you should probably strip the body off your car. All that extra weight has to be slowing it down, right?

I think McAfee is slowing my shtein down. Tht thing runs so many damn processes....I got it via Comcast because I didn't renew my Norton stuff.

SunMo

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Good, you've identified the source.  The next step is washing it off.

Tomahawk

It only slows mine down when it's actually performing the scan. Those other sub-processes don't really affect it. You still do need a spyware program in addition to McAfee anti-viral software. I really like LavaSoft Ad-Aware. Spybot is also a good option

no doubt Phreak--I have it for my work laptop..it drives me nuts and always seems to run when im sending that "important" email or document

I dont know if AVG has it or not but having Norton 360 automatically back up my drive files and documents and storing it is key for me...especially since I have a 6-7 year old gateway pc.

Seabiscuit36

i have the Comcast Mcafee, it sucks so much memory i have to walk away when its scanning

:-D

I turned that goddamn automatic updates off on it because everytime I would sit down it would start updating. Like it couldn't do it while the computer was dormant...always when I go to get something done. I've been doing most of my crap on my laptop now. I'm going to remove McAfee and buy Norton again.

norton pisses me off something fierce.  i hate them.  i dare you to call their technical support department.  it can't be done.  i needed to disable a firewall a couple months ago and needed their assistance.  in order to contact their tech support by phone, you need to register your problem on the website and then they will give you a passcode to enter via telephone.  got the passcode and called their 800 number.  i was prompted to enter my 10 digit passcode and about 3 seconds later was told i didn't enter the code fast enough.  i tried this over a dozen times with the same result each time.......even after getting the entire passcode typed in, i would be prompted to re-enter it.  so i hung up and went back to their website for their online chat support.

ok, if you thought that talking with a techie who can't speak english was bad, then i can't even begin to describe the horror that comes with trying to communicate with one of these morons via messenger.  i don't know what his name was because it was like the final round of wheel of fortune.......5 consenants and 1 vowel.  something like this "rsjitl."

anywho, after about an hour of getting no where, i logged off chat and uninstalled norton because i dont have any desire to own or use a product that makes it so complicated to get my questions answered.  so i'm running mcafee now.

so far, so good.

i hope someone writes a virus that completely disables the symantec headquarters.  bastiches.
