You're awful picky for somebody looking to jack it on their couch.

It has Windows...I just got mine today. Granted, it's Windows 7 or 8 instead of 10, but it still has an OS.

Sgt PSN

No, I don't want Windows. And I really don't want/need all the extra crap that comes on a laptop.

General_Failure

Right, you want to be the only thing to comes on that laptop.

Any of you ever own a chromebook or know anyone who does?  As much as I'd like a MacBook, I can't really justify spending $1500 - $2000 knowing that I'll mostly be using it to check email and surf the web from my couch.  Total overkill for what I want.  Chromebook seems perfect for what I need it to be and only costs like 200 bucks.

ive used one for years and just got a new one

its perfect if all you use it for is day to day internet stuff. dont expect to download any programs. the battery power lasts a while, so that helps. you can use google docs for any writing, filing, porn compiling, etc. its all i need so its a good deal for me.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I've been using a chromebook for a while now.  Cheap as farg, works great.  Acer made this one.  It was under $200 a couple years ago.

What do you guys have? Pretty sure I'm going with the Samsung Chromebook 3 for $179.  I'm intrigued by an Asus that is a 2 in 1, but I'm not sure I want to spend an extra $80 just to have a touchscreen.

Touchscreen on a laptop is much nicer than using the little touchpad.

Is it a pain in the ass on a chromebook?

General_Failure

I honestly can't tell if that's a serious question. Spring for the touchscreen.

Lol, it was serious.  I haven't bought any kind of laptop since 2008 and the touch pad on it was decent.  The laptop I used at my last job had a touch pad that sucked.  That's pretty much my experience with touch pads in the last 10 years.

Decided to go with the Asus Flip.  I like that it can run some Android apps. Wasn't really thinking of it as a total tablet replacement, but sure, why not?  Battery isn't quite as good as the Samsung 3, but other than that everything else is =/> the Samsung.

I have a Chromebook. Acer. Got it for $100 after a rebate a few years ago on a whim. It's absolutely fantastic for what we use it for. Kid loves to use it on long car rides and the battery life is flat-out incredible. It's super light and if something happens to it, it's not the end of the world. Whole family uses Google stuff anyway- Music, Drive, Calendar, etc....so, it was a no-brainer. If you're using it mostly for internet stuff, you'll love it.

Yeah, that's pretty much all I need it for.  I like my tablet but I hate typing with it and I've never been a big fan of keyboard cases. Had 1 for my old iPad and there was always a bit of lag when typing. And with the exception of higher end keyboard cases like Zagg, most of them are kind of flimsy and not very stable sitting on your lap.

Mine will arrive Wed. Hoping that it works well and suits my needs.
