I had shtein to do today.

None of it got done. lol

And next weekend is the draft. Yay for sports related procrastination.

The draft is a little anticlimatic, now that the Eagles don't have that 4th rounder.

Farg yeah, watched all three with my 5 yr. old boy. He is a carbon copy of me, hanging on every play and every call. My 7 yr. old daughter watched most of the Flyers game with us, but she was screaming for more fights everytime the puck stopped, fargin hilarious. Great day baby!

With the Penguins and Magic (likely) going to the finals after going through a Philly team, I looked at the last 20 years and came up with this list:

1991 Bulls
1992 Cowboys
1995 Devils
1995 Cowboys
1996 Panthers (FLA)
2000 Devils
2000 Pacers
2000 Giants (NY)
2001 Rams
2002 Buccaneers
2003 Panthers (CAR)
2004 Lightning
2005 Pistons
2007 Rockies
2008 Penguins
2008 Cardinals (AZ)
2009 Penguins
2009 Magic?

All of these teams knocked a Philly team out of the playoffs on their way to the finals of their sport...  :-\

Not surprising considering how often Philly teams get knocked out the playoffs.  I used to keep that ticker in my sig... before the Phillies won, I think the number of consecutive playoff appearances without a championship was up to 43, a truly huge number that I'm not even sure Cleveland can touch. Hell, it's back up to 3 already.

Yeah I must have mis-remembered my number. It got up to 47. Between May 31, 1983 and October 29, 2008, the following bums were eliminated from the playoffs:

Phillies (1983, 1993, 2007)
Sixers (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008)
Flyers (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008)
Eagles (1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006)

In a little over 40 years of existence, the Flyers have had two stretches of 11+ years in which they have made the playoffs every year and not won the Cup.

Here's the current Playoff Futility Index:

Cleveland: 38 (going on 39?)
Buffalo: 33
Seattle: 32
Minneapolis: 25
Milwaukee: 22
Atlanta: 22
Dallas: 21
Washington: 20
Portland: 20

No one close to 47.

igy, here's a correction to your main list: the Stars won in 1999, not 2000. Might affect Dallas' number.

Yeah I must have mis-remembered

is that you, roger?

Dunno which I enjoyed more: Clemens obviously perjuring himself, or the sports media not being aware that misremember is an actual word that Clemens used correctly.

not a completely fair comparison tho as none of those cities had/have four teams

altho it goes both ways and you could say phillys drought was worse because you had to live thru four teams losing instead of two or three

that said clevelands current drought is definitely the worst ever with phillys pre 08 losing streak second
