basically a 24 year old blount...probably more important for next year when they let blount walk than this year but not a bad move

Not in pass protection, that's for sure. He's also got a farged up knee.

Still somewhat crazy that the Dolphins would make this trade.

hes got a base salary for 705k next year. this is an amazing trade and feels like a steal.

this dude ran for 200 yards twice last season. hes 24. for a 4th? am i missing something here.

This is what got me too. It's not like the Dolphins have a stud RB waiting in the wings either. Perfect time for a trade too. Work him into the offense slowly Sunday, he has a bye to get situated with the offense, then they're ready for the stretch run.

running backs are a dime a dozen reliant on so many other things....unless its the rare case of an adrian peterson or some shtein

ajai averages 3.4 yards a carry this year thats pretty awful....basically they paid a 4th for a year and a half of this guy cause i cant see them resigning him

This trade seems to have more shock value than actual value.  I mean, I don't necessarily hate this trade but I don't love it either.  That said, if this dude can somehow find his 2016 self then it'd be hard to complain about it.

i mean its a 4th round pick, one of 3 they had. the guy has talent. even if his knees are a little shot its a worthwhile risk.

Good trade. Factor in that the Eagles generally spend fourth rounders on absolute garbage, it's basically like getting him for practically nothing. No legitimate downside.

you mean people on the internet overreacted to a sports trade after first hearing of it....unpossible

i probably wouldnt have done it since they only have one out of the first approximately 120 picks in the nfl draft....id wanna keep all my picks....unless you were getting a difference maker....like a upgrade at OT

im not even saying ajayi wont play well but hes probably not the difference in a single win or loss for the rest of the season much less the difference in putting you over the hump to win a SB.....he means much more for next season....that being said im not mad about it or anything and largely feel the same way as you

I'm factoring in that I have almost no confidence in the Eagles hitting a home run with that fourth rounder, other than blind luck, which they don't typically have in that area of the draft. Curious whether they're done today, actually.

i mean i hear people say this all the time and im not huge howie fan but thats never an argument to me....by that thinking any team that doesnt think they have a gm that can find someone in the fourth round should just trade all their picks every year...and if you are already worried about his competency then dont you want as many picks as possible for him to hit on something.....they now have one of of the first 120 picks in the draft....again im not trying to say giving another one is the end of the world or anything i just personally wouldnt have done it this year when you have that few bullets

on the flip side i would have easily overpaid for a vaitai upgrade if they had had the picks to do it...which they obviously didnt

the typical 4th round pick is out of the nfl in 2 seasons...ajayi may well be too because of his knees, but id take him anyday over a 4th.

put a sauce pan of fantasy football mentality over high heat then sprinkle a pinch of homerism and you have a delicious version of most of the reactions to this trade
Title: Re: Jay Ajayi, Philadelphia Eagle

This is a cheap way to get a look at a young RB at the expense of 1/3 of their fourth round picks. There's literally no down side. /End
Title: Re: Jay Ajayi, Philadelphia Eagle
Post by: Zanshin on October 31, 2017, 10:49:53 AM
They're 7-1 and now arguably better for a fourth round pick, which, Eagles draft braintrust aside, is obvious crapshoot territory. In dreamville, would I hope for a clear upgrade at T in trade for that? Sure. If it was a shtein trade, I'd say so. Is this a huge difference maker? Probably not. Could it be A difference maker at some point? Sure. Not a homer assessment. To use your bullet analogy...they went hunting and hit something instead of using that bullet to shoot blindly at something else later. They ate today, so whatever. I'm not losing sleep over the fourth rounder. I mean, they're playing a FA over the fourth rounder they actually picked last year.

They're going to trade Wentz and Cox for a backup Tackle, then sign Kaepernick. Heard it here first. IGY will miss Cox a little, but be happy that they held onto that fourth.

So to sum this up:

He's not a LT.

He's damaged goods.

He's got a zesty attitude.

He's not worth a fourth rounder.

And finally, anyone praising the deal is a pathetic homer.

And bonus points for something about Jews.

I'm not sure how any that is getting off on the wrong foot.  I love BWest and everything, but he hasn't played for the Eagles for like 7 or 8 years now.

Also, this was Westy's original reaction to it.  He seems cool with it. (https://twitter.com/36westbrook/status/925455373405913090)

Besides, it's a farging jersey number.  Who gives a farg?  Give him 99 for all I care.

Not getting off on the right foot. I'm sure someone told him that was Westbrooks jersey number and he's a legend around these parts. Just stick with 23 dude.

McLeod wears 23

I'm not sure how any that is getting off on the wrong foot.  I love BWest and everything, but he hasn't played for the Eagles for like 7 or 8 years now.

Also, this was Westy's original reaction to it.  He seems cool with it. (https://twitter.com/36westbrook/status/925455373405913090)

Besides, it's a farging jersey number.  Who gives a farg?  Give him 99 for all I care.

so which is it?

Or you could answer in a sentence that couldn't be easily misconstrued? Right?

(lol...don't assume I actually care one way or another. I just figured you'd love the Trump thing.)
