assuming the giants win tonight (and its no gimme imo) any thoughts on what the line is?

giants -1 ??

-1 seems right.

If the Giants lose tonight, an Eagles win Sunday clinches the division.

The line was Giants -3 with all the vig on Eagles +3, prior to last night.  For obvious reasons, the week 15 lines are off right now.

lol Matt Mosely takes a shot at Spadaro in his NFC East Blog

QuoteI asked Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid late Sunday night whether he felt bad for the New York Giants because of their travel woes. I thought he might have a funny response, but he was too caught up in the aftermath of a 30-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys and he just sort of mumbled a couple of sentences before a team employee resumed his line of questioning about left guard Todd Herremans' touchdown catch.

r diddy in breaking down chaney on film loved what he saw in the run game and said hes not worried about him in that sense this week....where he thinks the giants will exploit him is in the passing game and he expects them to try and fool him with different formations that will try and spring lose boss

this is strange in that coming out of college the knock on chaney was his ability to physically take on nfl lineman and fullbacks and it was highly questionable as to whether he would be able to get off blocks at this level

Slightly unrelated... Do the national pundits actually watch the Eagles on defense?  They keep saying how Stewart Bradley is a huge loss for the defense.  The dude has been playing mediocre at best.  If Chaney  can come in and just stop the run, that's fine by me.

the ones that you need to pay mind to are anyone associated with nfl films or who gets game film....all people like baldy diddy lombardi and mayock do all week is break down coaches tape...they for the most part know their shtein...steve young trent dilfer ect... basically do what the average fan does every weekend which is watch red zone or flip btwn games

Exactly.

The Stew Bradley mourning was nauseating. The Eagles defense is being considered good and tough because of Jim Johnson's legacy, they assume he left behind a whiz kid coordinator with superb talent.

bradley is a significant loss but the way the media portrays it is that its a loss because he was really good when the reason its as big  loss as it is is because they are replacing him with a 7th round rookie

It wouldnt matter if it was a 3rd rounder.

When you lose your starting MLB its pretty much a significant downgrade on any NFL team-even more so late in the season when you're in a playoff race.

Losing a starting MLB is hurtful to teams that actually have talent at that position. The Eagles will be no worse without Bradley...this defense blows

and in fact we dont even know 100% that it will be a significant downgrade for the eagles...but it looks worse than most teams when you have to start a 7th round rookie

Tuck threatened Vick - this game is over.  He's like the entire team's favorite brother (in the literal not the homey sense), and they are going to smack the Giants in the mouth all game.

This. (http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/news/local_news/giants-tuck-threatens-michael-vick)

QuoteTuck told the New York Daily News that he will "knock out" Vick if the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is running near the sidelines.

"We're going to play fair and we're going to hit him," Tuck said. "To be honest, I'm going to err on the side of knocking him out because we've seen so many times where a guy like Vick tip-toes up the sidelines, catches his balance and keeps going for another 50. So on that situation, I'm going to hit him, simple as that."

It is being taken out of context. But it's also an idiotic thing to say before a game, especially considering all the 'talk' that Vick isn't getting the calls other QBs are getting. He just put himself in the spotlight.

Why do we think alike?

Because we've watched too much 70s shower porn?

QuoteThe Eagles overcame a 21-point halftime deficit to win 38-31. The last time the Eagles came back to win a game when they were down by at least 21 points at the half was on October 27, 1946 when they were down 24-0 at the taterskins. They would win the game 28-24 In the last 70 years, this is just the 3rd time the Giants lost a game in which they led by at least 21 points at halftime. The others were on November 26, 2006 at Tennessee and on December 21, 1996 at home to New England. Those two games also represent the only other times in the last 70 years in which the Giants blew a 14-point lead after three quarters and lost, which is what the Giants had Sunday against the Eagles. This is the 3rd time in the last 70 years in which the Eagles won a game when they trailed by 14 points after three quarters. The others were October 27, 1985 against the Bills and October 1, 1978 at the Baltimore Colts.

I'm not trying to be negative. I'm trying to keep this moment from setting me up for a massive let down. This game was amazing. Maybe the most exciting I've ever watched. But I'm not letting myself get carried away. I learned that lesson a long time ago.

heres the question to ponder:

where does this win rank up on the all time list? id say its easy top 5 all time eagles...in fact arguments can be made that its better than the falcons nfc title one.

Absolutely top 5.  NFCG 1980, NFCG 2004, Miracle #1, 4th & 26.  This may have displaced Miracle #2.  Down by 21 points and to come back to win it on the last play of the game which happens to be a punt return.  Unbelievable.

I really did see it immediately and felt quite relieved when the ball was snapped.  Plus, there was a commercial after it which only gave more time for replay assistants to look at it and tell Coughlin to throw the red flag.  Scary.

I figured Buck/Aikman/Fox would have made an issue out of it if it was closer. That and Coughlin is the best challenge guy in the league.

Wow

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Mike-Pe...analysis-121910

QuoteWhen do two missed coach's challenges and a booth review that wasn't reversed — all three resulting in 21 points for the opposition — not end up costing you the game?

When Michael Vick is your quarterback.

Led by Vick, the Eagles scored an incredible 28 points in the final eight minutes of the game to stun the Giants, 38-31.

Let's get right to the most interesting calls of Week 15, highlighted by the three calls that weren't made in New York.

1. Philadelphia at Dallas

THE SITUATION: Three different plays that ended up costing the Eagles 21 points. One was in the first quarter, another in the second and the final one was in the fourth. Yet, Philadelphia still managed to win the game. (Watch video above to see the plays.)

THE PLAYS:

1. The Giants had the ball third and 11 from their 28 and Eli Manning completed a pass to Hakeem Nicks for 22 yards.

2. The Eagles had the ball second and 9 from their 18 with nine seconds left until halftime. Vick hit Jeremy Maclin for 13 yards; he fumbled and the Giants recovered.

3.The Eagles had the ball first and 10 at their 20 with 13 minutes to play. Vick hit DeSean Jackson for 30 yards but the receiver fumbled and it was recovered by the Giants.

MY TAKE: This is still incredible to me. Before we start, let's not lose sight of the fact that the Eagles were playing in New York, which already leaves them at a huge disadvantage because any close call that goes in favor of the Giants will not be replayed on the stadium's video screen.

This is "home field" advantage at its best. Let's take these one-by-one.

Play 1: In my opinion, the pass to Nicks was incomplete. Nicks did not maintain control of the ball and the ball hit the ground. Had this been challenged by Andy Reid, the ruling on the field would have been reversed. Instead, five plays later Manning hit Mario Manningham for a touchdown.

Play 2: This play was ruled a catch-and-fumble and was reviewed in replay. There was no question that it was a fumble; however, the pass could have been incomplete.

I felt that the play should have been reversed because Maclin was hit just as his second foot touched the ground which, in my opinion, makes him going to the ground as part of the process of completing the catch. During the process, you have to maintain control the whole time.

Obviously, judgment is still involved in replay. Referee John Perry felt that there was not enough visual evidence to overturn the call. One play later, Manning hit Nicks for a touchdown.

Play 3: This is another play I was surprised Reid didn't challenge. The ruling on the field was that Jackson was not down by contact. It was clear that the ball came out when Jackson hit the ground. The ground cannot cause a fumble unless the runner is deemed not to have been touched before hitting the ground.

In this case, Jonathan Goff grazed the back of Jackson's jersey before touching his hand warmer. Touching his hand warmer does not put him down, but touching his back does.

Had this been challenged, the ruling would have been reversed to down by contact. Instead, the Giants scored seven plays later when Manning hit Kevin Boss for a touchdown.

You've got to hand it to the Eagles and Vick. You don't normally overcome rulings like this and still win the game.

2nd half thread from some Giants message board...lol: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx 64&f=1867&t=6911349

QuoteI/m terrified that D. Jackson has a big one in him , before this is over.

Can't help it... The worst losses .... Minny scores a hundred in the last forty seconds.....We dominate S.F, Shoc key drops a td before half time  and they come back ...    That's the game that led to the extreme rotations on the d line.

He suffered the concussion on the punt return:

QuoteWhen I saw (Jackson) break the initial wave, and I saw a lane to the right, I knew if I got (DeOssie), he was gonna score," Avant told the newspaper. "So I just threw it in there. I knew he scored. Me being knocked out just reminded me of a dream I had of us winning on the last play, but I didn't know who it was against.

I keep listening and watching the Merril Reese replay and oddly enough he doesnt even make that video or recording that special. I give it all to Mike Quick for the chill factor.

The way things were going for the Giants the last 7 minutes he probably would have shanked the punt so bad out of bounds and the birds would have got the ball at midfield, time for one more play, completed a pass on the sideline with 1 second left and Akers would have kicked the winning FG.

two other things on the game tying drive.

the 3rd and 10 scramble from the 11 yard line...Ross loses containment and Vick can get outside, such a great play.

the 1st and 10 after that scramble, eagles try to run a screen but it's covered, so he throws it to maclin for a first down.  Jason Peters was 5 yards down field and they are lucky for not getting a man downfield penalty call.

The guy who posted it left this comment:

QuoteThey were yelling at an Eagles fan at the front of the car. You can't really see him in the video. The blonde chick offered to pay the bar tab for anyone willing to punch him out. The douche in the Yankees hat started heading his way, ostensibly to take her up on the offer, but he never followed through. He then came back and started hitting on the chick, offering to rub her feet, of all things.

Giants accuse Eagles of dirty play (again) Listen to this article. Powered by Odiogo.com

After the Eagles' first win against the Giants, defensive lineman Chris Canty ripped Todd Herremans for a pair of dirty blocks.

Herremans had been called for two personal fouls during the Birds' 27-17 win.

Now, after the Eagles' stunning 38-31 win Sunday, another Giants lineman is accusing the Birds' offensive line of dirty play.

"It's just that team, they like to play dirty. Same (stuff) they did in the first game and the refs don't do (anything) about it," Giants defensive tackle Rocky Bernard told Mike Garafolo of The Star-Ledger. "Just taking cheap shots, after the whistle, tackling, holding, whatever. It's ridiculous."

The Eagles were called for just five penalties for 30 yards Sunday. There was an illegal formation, holding, illegal touching, a false start and encroachment. But no personal fouls.

Bernard said he was complaining to the refs, but getting no help.

"I'm usually a pretty cool guy, but when they start doing stuff like that, taking cheap shots, that's when I have a problem with it," Bernard told Garafolo. "You try to complain about it to the ref, and they don't call it."

just watch the replay....still photos are very deceptive...like for example you have no idea if hes being touched there you also have no idea if the ball is coming lose as it doesnt move in a still shot

i dont see how you cant watch the play live and see that it was a fumble

what's not clear about that?  he's down, he's touched, and the ball is in his hands.

you literally can't get any more clear than that.

just watch the replay....still photos are very deceptive...like for example you have no idea if hes being touched there you also have no idea if the ball is coming lose as it doesnt move in a still shot

i dont see how you cant watch the play live and see that it was a fumble

I just watched it, it wasn't a fumble. That the anal team of Buck/Aikman didn't even mention it and the fact that the best challenge coach in league history didn't challenge it should tell you all you need to know.

And that Maclin fumble was a joke. If he manages to keep that ball but traps it no way they call that a catch.

:'( :'(

haha for real?

Wrong. If you have rights to play it on your station you have the rights to podcast it too. The NFL can't dictate what 94 WYSP does with their audio, it's their content. When I was interning with 975 anything broadcast on ESPN (Phillies playoffs/NFL games) was fair game. We could do whatever we wanted with it.

On air sponsors have no say in what the station decides to podcast. Podcasts have their own separate advertising (975 podcasts start with proflowers.com intro). It's not like they sold the air time to advertisers promising them they'd get the last 8 minutes of the Eagles game. They get slotted with a time and that's what they get.
Title: Re: New York, New York....Big City of Dreams
Post by: ice grillin you on December 22, 2010, 01:00:53 PM
of course no one can tell wip what to podcast but they certainly would negotiate when it gets podcasted

a local union is specifically paying wip to broadcast this thing on air without interuption...i highly doubt they would have agreed to do that if wip was also going to podcast it

Title: Re: New York, New York....Big City of Dreams
Post by: SD on December 22, 2010, 01:06:26 PM
Well I didn't know about the local union as I don't listen to wip.

And for what Charlie said if this were the NFL networks station on Sirius then yes wip would have to get permission to podcast their content. But since it's wip and they have their permission it's fair game.

Post by: ice grillin you on December 22, 2010, 01:09:38 PM
yeah i dont know anything about the nfl thing...im speaking from a advertisers standpoint...it doesnt make much sense to sponser the broadcast have wip tease it all day that its coming up and at the same time agreeing to have it podcasted so that it takes listeners away from the over the air broadcast of it that you are paying for

First off why would a radio station podcast an NFL game? No one would listen to it. The NFL doesn't even podcast their own games.

Second the NFL doesn't own wysp. The NFL can't dictate what they do with their content

Third I worked for 97.5 the Fanatic, we were allowed to use whatever content we wanted from whatever outlet we wanted. I've used clips from games for audio from ESPN/Fox/youtube etc. and it was never an issue. We obviously didn't use anything from WIP because they're competing with them.

again i dont know shtein from shat....but it might be different using a 30 second audio clip or highlite from something versus playing the last 8 minutes of a game....also i think hes talking about podcasting stuff not playing stuff on updates or in the middle of a show

also im not positive how radio works but on televison the games are owned by the nfl...not cbs fox or espn....so it might be possible that wip doesnt own eagles broadcasts

Coughlin more so than any coach I've ever seen is on the field when he's not supposed to be. And if they want to nitpick I'm sure it's also a rule violation to throw your clipboard onto the field of play.

To me this is like a walk off home run in baseball, the run doesn't technically count until the runner crosses home plate yet the team swarms him on the field anyway. Same difference. Now, if the players on the field had been part of the reason Jackson scored than yeah I could see this being an issue.

Giants had some monster pass rushers and blitzed the shtein out of the Eagles. They did a great job sealing the edges but the Eagles interior o line was straight trash.

The "Eagles suck" chants around the 11 minute mark in the 4th were great

Forgot how much pushing and shoving there was in this game

The Eagles d was straight trash. Pretty sure Trevor Laws got that late game sack on Eli. Easily the biggest play of his career.

When Pimp was lining up to receive the punt you could hear a bunch of Giants fans taunting him

Akers with a beaut of an onsides kick. Giants STs had no clue it was coming.

Maclin was a beast.

He was a fantastic onsides guy. Obviously the pickle juice game was one but I remember the one from PIT too and that one was excellent

Every time i would hear or read MJG I immediately think of 8ball and MJG from back in 93

Coughlin screaming like a felt up bitch at Dodge is every bullying high school coach ever.

His defense just got farged in the ass with no Vaseline and he's yelling at a rookie punter.

The only thing better than watching that icehole lose would have been if Dodge knocked his ass out cold.

I was in NYC for this game.  Got so hammered in Brooklyn the night before that the thought of tailgating Sunday morning made me sick so I skipped it.

Slept on a friend's couch though most of it, watched the last 5 minutes or so.  Don't regret it.

The locker room footage looks like a 70s porno shower scene, only with pads and jerseys.
