After a week of spelunking my cavernous cornhole, I found my roster!

Ahmad Bradshaw
Drew Brees
Jamaal Charles
Marques Colston
A.J. Green
Shonn Greene
Matt Hasselbeck
Brandon Marshall
Ryan Matthews
Rashard Mendenhall
Jordy Nelson
Mike Wallace
Jason Witten
Stephen Gostkowski
Cincinnati

I'm pretty sure I don't have a pick until round 4. Is there a single safe source for that kind of information?

On that note, PhillyCrew has my 1st and 4th rd picks this year.

I'm pretty sure THawk doesn't have a pick until round 5 because he traded them all to me. The defending league champ. Hahahahahahahaha.

Just renewed the league. Draft is the Sunday before the season starts (September 2). Keepers must be selected one week prior to the draft (August 26th). Keepers can be selected on the actual site this year.

More draft details to follow.

By the way, I'm willing to listen to trade offers for:
Marshawn Lynch or Michael Turner

I'll listen to trades for anyone except Brady and Johnson.

Same. I'll listen to trade offers for anyone, but the rest of my roster falls into one of two categories: obvious keeper or player no one would ever trade for.

THawk and I have just negotiated a monster.

THawk gets: (QB) Drew Brees, (WR) Mike Wallace
RJS gets: (WR) Anquan Boldin, 2012 draft picks in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds.

I'm posting it here first so everyone can see that there are draft picks involved. Plan to do it on Yahoo later today.

But honestly, it's not that absurd a question when you ONLY post the draft order rounds 1-4. No mention of nothing else. I remember there being nothing more than a four rounds or so last season....so be nice.

There was a whole comversation about the fact that I posted the first four rounds to reflect the impact of trades.

What was. It discussed is that yahoo requires everyone to have exactly 15 picks so the 8th round is mostly going to be THawk and Sarge taking backup WRs kickers and D.

I was pleasantly surprised to have the pick of either Luck or RGIII, thanks for that Jay.

Let me know. Maybe we should bump it up to $30? Due to inflation of course.

Title: Re: Keeper League 12

It's $20 per person paid to the winner at the end of the season. I collected in Nashville bc you and sarge are moderately retarded and insisted.

I am of course open to upping the $$$ but unlike everything else in this league, where I simply announce my decisions and expect you monkeys to fall in line, I will not dictate a league cost increase here. If everyone agrees we'll up the price of poker. Otherwise, it stays $20.

I think the league would be greatly improved by the following:

price increase...at least $25 per year, and paid up front, so the winner doesn't have to chase people for his due
two more teams
fewer keepers: QB, RB, WR, TE/D/K, Rookie

Agree on all 3.  I had thought about suggesting the change in keepers at some point during the offseason but never got around to mentioning it here, specifically keeping 1 rb and wr instead of 2....or maybe 1 rb, 1 wr and 1 rb/wr flex.

If we reduce the RB and WR keepers, then that should put enough talent back into the draft pool to allow for the addition of 2 more teams.

Consider my vote a "yes" for $25 buy in for the current season and a "yes" for additional teams/less keepers for 2013.

Title: Re: Keeper League 12

I'm a yes for $25 buy in

my suggested changes:

get rid of flex
start 3 wr
reduce keepers to 1 qb, 1wr, 1rb, 1 rookie

add more teams if we can but that would mean a total redraft obviously.
Title: Re: Keeper League 12
Post by: hbionic on September 04, 2012, 01:14:06 PM
I like the flex position because starting a 3rd receiver is a matter of taste...some like receivers, some like running backs.

Keeping the flex makes the most sense and adds strategy to drafting.

Basically, ignore SunMo's flex elimination proposal.  :=)

The flex isn't going anywhere. However, the idea of reducing the number of keepers seems to be fairly popular so we can certainly entertain suggestions there.

While reducing keepers might allow for the addition of another two teams, I think in order for it to be even remotely fair for the new teams we'd have to seriously rejigger the draft in some way. Which sounds like a lot of work for me. Or just start from scratch which punishes current GMs who have spent time building their teams. This one will require more discussion.

I think everyone has OK'ed $25 with the exception of PhillyCrew. If he doesn't respond here I'll ask him in person next time I see him. Money decisions need to be unanimous IMO.

While reducing keepers might allow for the addition of another two teams, I think in order for it to be even remotely fair for the new teams we'd have to seriously rejigger the draft in some way.

Expansion draft could be done via :CF.  We set an earlier deadline (a week earlier should be good) for existing teams to designate their keepers.  The list of keepers is posted and the 2 newcomers get to draft from the remaining player pool.  2013 rookies would not be available in the "expansion draft" but a 2012 rookie could be drafted as a rookie keeper.

So basically, 2 teams draft say 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 (2012) Rook and 1 TE/K/Def by alternating their picks and posting them on the board.  Coin flip or whatever can used to determine who gets the first pick.  Then we do the regular draft through Yahoo.

The only real question at that point would be to decide on what their draft position would be in the Yahoo draft.  I'd vote on giving them the last 2 picks since they essentially got the 1st 2 picks during the expansion draft.

QuoteMoney decisions need to be unanimous IMO.

Seems fair.

I think I got shorted a point last week too.

i'm setting up for another 2000 era Eagles finish to the season.  finish #1, lose in the playoffs.

my year has been such an anomaly, 2 games up in 1st place.  yet 7th in points for.  that's incredible
Title: Re: Keeper League 12
Post by: Sgt PSN on December 09, 2012, 04:41:15 PM
Yeah, in previous years I think you've had the top (or one of the top) scoring team before losing in the playoffs.  Anomaly, indeed.

Also, my decision to pick up Cleveland's defense about 10 minutes before kickoff and start them in place of Chicago was pretty god damn brilliant if I must say so.  Makes up for my equally brutal decision to play Jennings last week in place of Forte.

If I'm doing my math right, I'm about to leapfrog into 4th place from 7th and face Sunny in the first round. Hahaha.

(I'll move into fourth, assuming the following...
- Owen Daniels does not outscore Aaron Hernandez by 10+ points tonight.
- Shayne Graham scores more than 3.6 points.
- Aaron Hernandez does not have a career day.)

(Post post script...
If Tom Brady and Gostkowski do nothing and Arian Foster blows up giving sunny a win, I could sneak in that way too.)

If shtein ended right now, you're in. But if Sarge beats Sunny, you're out.

Crazy year...in the final week, any team could have had the other 3 spots (except Dio).

Title: Re: Keeper League 12

Pretty sure thawk is wrong. Mostly because he's a dummy but also because if I score at least 4 points tonight I'll leapfrog him, his opponent (pc I think) and Hector. There will be five or six 7-7 teams and I'll be the points leader of that group. Theres also a chance that I'll end up as the league point leader but miss the playoffs. farging weird season.

Title: Re: Keeper League 12
Post by: Tomahawk on December 10, 2012, 08:09:40 PM
Sarge, he lost a point for missing a field goal.

rjs: 3.6 points from the kicker gets him in, by virtue of overtaking Chuggie for points on the season.

Sarge: win and in with 8-6 record (Brady and Gostkowski need to outscore Arian Foster +.69)

phillycrew: win and in with 8-6 record (Owen Daniels needs to outscore Aaron Hernandez +11.6)

Me: win and in with 7-7 record (19.6 points to beat rjs on season if his kicker gets nothing, 23.2 points to beat chuggie but only if sarge loses. If Sarge wins, I need Hernandez to keep pace with Shayne Graham +19.6)

Total points for and in the even that that is a tie as well, highest weekly total starting with week 14 and working it's way back to week 1.  But if that still doesn't determine the winner (which would mean that both players scored the exact same amount of points each week...for 14 weeks), then a coin flip.
Title: Re: Keeper League 12
Post by: Sgt PSN on December 11, 2012, 12:05:31 AM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the playoff match ups will be:

(1) Rhythmic Slapping [9-5] vs (4) Poop Bandits [7-7]
(2) Philadelphia Phreaks [8-6] vs (3) Jerry's Kids [8-6]

Chuggie wins the tie breaker on total points.

Holy shtein......barring any over night stat corrections (*cough*shady commish*cough*), Chuggie beats rjs for the final playoff spot by a season total of 1557.59 - 1555.99 (+1.6 pts).  Thawk was right there with 1552.2 pts as well.

Chuggie thinks so little of your team, he didn't bother replacing his kicker.

Meanwhile, I went with the hot hand and stuck with Boldin (0 pts through 3qtr) vs Denver's very sound defense over the favorable matchup between Lance Moore (9.5 pts through 3) and Tampa's terrible pass d.  Can only hope for a garbage score or 2 from Boldin now.

Title: Re: Keeper League 12
Post by: Sgt PSN on December 16, 2012, 07:20:03 PM
Farging Boldin and his goose egg.  I hated that matchup but he's had 2 excellent weeks so I went with the hot hand.  Could have played either Brown or Moore and had much better results.

And picking up Detroit's defense this week was not as fruitful as last week when I grabbed Cleveland.

Down 18 with Brady and Gostkowski to go.  Phreak still has Ridley.

Good luck Mr. Sarge. I don't remember our head-to-head this season. 1-1 or are you 2-0? It would be cool if this was the tie-breaker.

Hahaha.... Knowing half of the roster of a zesty football team has nothing to do with the awesomeness of my farging fantasy team. In all honesty, I'm trying to forget most of the roster on the Eagles and erase them from memory. I recommend everyone else do the same. Life is not going to improve knowing the names of these 4th stringers we call starters.

Bitter sunny, I love you better when you're smiling.

I was repeatedly kicking myself in the ass for almost 3 qtrs for starting Boldin and Det D.  When and when Woodhead powered in for his first TD, I wanted to murderdeathkill him.  But SF jumping up so big in the 1st half was to my benefit because it forced them to abandon the run game (which Ridley helped with by fumbling) and allowed Brady to do what Brady do for the rest of the game.

More incredibly, he made it to the championship even though he started an injured or "on-bye" player at least 2 games, probably more. But to his credit, he had the most points scored on the season.

How unceremonious.

So here's pc's roster in case anyone is interested in taking over his team...

Quote
QB   Peyton Manning, Tony Romo

WR   Roddy White, Mike Williams (TB), Malcom Floyd, Percy Harvin, Jeremy Maclin

RB   Steven Jackson, Chris Johnson, Marcel Reece, Darren Sproles

TE   Owen Daniels, Vernon Davis

K   Lawrence Tynes

DEF   Baltimore

No rookies. But he does get the second pick in the draft next season. If anyone on the board is interested let me know.
