the word blackout gets thrown out a lot...its a pretty old term when owners used to prevent games from being aired locally in order to "save" the gate. this was before any of them realized tv helps the product -- the nfl was the worst at this. it took until the 70s for home games to air locally, sellout or no sellout. and somehow the sport managed to still be monstrous. keep the takes coming though please.
now the term only applies to when games arent available on mlbtv or the nba package because you have to watch them on another source. the people who get these packages, of course, are super diehard fans who are not going to abandon the product because a game here or a game there isnt accessible the one place most other games are.
would it be convenient for all games to be available in one place? sure. is what mlb doing an unapologetic cash grab? yes. will you be ok missing one phillies games that airs on peacock at noon on a sunday (unless you want to buy peacock or get an easily obtainable stream)? lord i hope so

Not sure why they're still using umps to call balls and strikes when the technology is available to do it electronically with way more accuracy. The balls either in the strike zone or it's not. the #1 reason why so few pitchers threw 200 innings is health related. every team was extra careful with their staffs this year - 2020 short season, 2021 full, 2022 late start. pitching effectively is 100x harder now than it was in 2010 than it was in 1980. everyone is better and the stress on your arm to do it is obscene.
i again must ask you. you watched the phillies. tell me why kyle gibson and ranger suarez didnt reach 200 IP despite making 31 and 29 starts. now think about every other team's mediocre starters. this is zilch to do with analytics of whatever youre going for.

to avoid having 4 games all on the same schedule
its very silly but they didnt want the bye teams to have too long of a break so they had them play, then rest, to get the NL and AL teams on different schedules. would the world have ended if they waited 1 more day to start the AL series? no.
the schedule will be a tad different next year, though the league and espn seemed to really like having the WC round on the weekend so i dont know. i think a 2-3 division series format makes sense.
I like it on the weekend too. At least when they put day games in people can watch them.

Saw shohei pitch in Phoenix in June 2021. Good God! It was like the Beatles, Beyonce, Elvis all in one with the hype and media coverage. He is the real deal and I am so glad junior, wife and I got to see him play. What a specimen, just amazing. He is the face of MLB and global baseball.
