republicans exist in their own universe with their own media but sure taking it to the streets will get some republican from a gerrymandered r+25 district in the missouri house to support abortion

its almost like twitter isnt real life and all your friends asked for this by voting for jill stein
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

it's almost like your white trash cousin has a basement where you can have fat white MAGA get togethers

We are all on the same team here guys.

Protesting is good. And yes the message, the ONLY message right now needs to be to get people to vote.

That's the only way we win. And that includes voting out any dem who kowtows to the GOP. It's time to expand the court. And anyone who doesn't support that needs to get gone.

PhillyPhreak54

Some MAGAt in Iowa drove his truck through protestors

And now police are launching tear gas into crowds in Phoenix

While that wouldn't be the ultimate goal, that is definitely something that could happen with the right amount of action. Has happened multiple times throughout our history. The bigger goal would be to just get more people engaged in general and making the lives of everyone who wants this miserable

The last thing a bunch of people who were just told to vote in 2018 and 2020 to prevent this from happening want to to hear right now is to be told "go vote". You're just going to piss off the people you need to vote. Protests yesterday do not need to be about John Fetterman, and looking down your nose at them for not doing so is dumb.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

yea this is just insane naivety. political pressure worked when politics functioned normally. we live in a gerrymandered world of uncompetitive elections and a system where extreme grifting is rewarded. there is no chance for any protest or action to work to change or flip a single senate or congressional vote on this. it is an abject impossibility and just utterly insane to suggest.

between the reps that honestly believe women are lesser and the ones that know siding with dems will be a death sentence, there are 0 republicans left that would be swayed by your twitter hashtags or creative signs. even democrats werent swayed because your old jewish socialist hero got his clock cleaned twice in primaries.

the messaging can 1000% be better and should be. im the last person in the world to defend corporate dems and old geezers like pelosi, biden and schmuer. and im not looking down on protests...i was there yesterday. they are just pointless except for the cathardic nature of them and unless you use them as voter mobilization efforts they dont accomplish anything

you can come and knock doors and text with me in the fall or you and your bro friends can complain on twitter...your call

I said it's possible, not likely. But the way it's possible is through highly disruptive and possibly violent protests that are sustained for months/years. You can't just do it for a weekend or two and expect change. But the American populous doesn't seem to have the stomach for that kind of action anymore. Last two times we had major sustained protests, they failed (iraq) or got absolutely bulldozed by police equipped with military equipment (Occupy). Between seeing those failures and general laziness/work taking up more free time/etc, people just don't have the stomach to do what's needed anymore. Floyd protests were close and relatively sustained but all the policy change that came out of that was giving more money to the police around the country even as they don't do their jobs so.

Again you're not gonna convince the people you to need to vote to vote if your message to them right now is "go vote". They've been hearing that since 2016 and they did go vote in 2018 and 2020 in record numbers, and this still happened. They're not exactly feeling enamored with the Neville Chamberlain-esque leadership of the Dem party right now and are mostly smart enough to see how feckless and terrible the Dem response is. No one wants to be told right now to go vote for a party whose leadership clearly doesn't know or isn't interested in wielding power or disrupting the "norms". They're showing up at these protests for yes the cathartic feeling and also because they're ant to hear about plans of direct action, not be told to go vote for a Dem party whose leader is saying the shtein he said in the tweet above this post.

Eventually yes GOTV efforts will need to ramp up as we get to the fall, no one is arguing against that. But can tell you that there's a looooot of people under 30 right now who absolutely do not need to hear "go vote" at the present moment.

Do nothing to improve lives, demand votes anyway.

The solution is simple yet the Democratic leadership including the POTUS refuses to play hard ball.

FJB indeed.  Useless and farging feeble-minded.
