i dont believe that to be true but will not question a good liberal like queen h
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

QB Eagles

I think it's literally wherever the holder sets up. Tom Dempsey's 63 yarder was off a 45 yard LOS.

7 used to be the average but it's shifted out to around 8 gradually.

ice grillin you

she claims its 8 every single time like it was 7 for ever before that

im assuming with legs being much stronger now teams added a yard as it wouldnt affect the chances of making the kick as much as it prevents the chances of a block

So dumb

I need a Pats FG to make this a profitable day otherwise it's break even

QB Eagles

Curious about the FG thing, I just did a stat search looking at FGs from only the opponent's 20 yard LOS, 1995-today. I figured that was about a mid-range FG, where you are most likely to use a "normal" hold.

In 1995, 19 of them counted as 38 yarders, 15 counted as 37 yarders, 1 counted as a 39 yarder.
In 2015, 29 of them counted as 38 yarders, 1 counted as a 37 yarder, 3 counted as a 39 yarder.
Last year there were still three 39 yarders, but no more 37 yarders.

Glancing at overall stats, it looks like the NFL counts them from the spot of the hold which varies but has progressively been moving away from the LOS for decades. You get +19 more than you get +17, but it's overwhelmingly +18.

ice grillin you

it was +17 from 1980 to at least 2014ish...i thought it was still that

wifey claims it went to 18 in the last three years

QB Eagles

Unless the NFL did a mass change of their historical stats, I don't think so.

(:11) D.Akers 35 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-M.Bartrum, Holder-K.Detmer.

We were always taught it's 17 yards and I think even video games still add 17 yards, but then when the league added the "33 yard" XP from the 15, it seemed like an instant change. But in reality the 17 was never really right either. Like I said, the Dempsey kick in 1970 was snapped from the 45 yard line.

Other than Panthers-Saints the NFL product today was a farging disgrace. Not fun to watch these games.
