dozens...most all my friends and a lot of my family still live in the city...but to be fair I only run with super liberal people not bumpkins like you so my numbers are probably skewed

and to be fair if you count people I have met but don't know then sure ive come across many people at bars or other common area places who are against it....theres a reason it was a heated debate...all taxes are

Well I live as close to the city as you can possibly get without actually living in the city and people are pissed. They should have been up front with the $41 million they were allotting to the city.

The money allotment going to the city did though.

smeags

that how politics works though. instead of cleaning up that cesspool city council or the school board, lets just tax people more.

well that's a whole different argument...I thought you were saying you didn't know anyone that was for the tax itself...im against the city fund getting money but not because it wont help pay it down...but because id rather it go towards the pre k or the parks and rec centers...even still 41 million out of almost 400 isn't horrible

I live in Bensalem, the big draw of Parx is that taxes wouldn't go up. Now they're implementing a wage tax. Where does it end?

$41 million is a BIG deal when it's thrown in last minute.

Susquehanna Birder

The whole issue of casinos in PA was being greased by the promise of reduced property tax for homeowners. It's been quite a few years, and the results are...well...less than promised.

smeags

mine went up since parx opened.

Haven't been paying super close attention, but wasn't the 40 mil towards the city bills a compromise because the more conservative members of city council wanted it? If that's the case, that's not 'sneaking' anything in, it's just a negotiation.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
