Young.  Cheap.  Talented but fragile.

Like these other projects, he will not be on the team next year no matter what he does this year.  If he ball out...they'll let him go with a "thank you, enjoy the ring..." and someone else will pay him.

QuotePHILADELPHIA -- Eagles standout offensive tackle Lane Johnson reworked his contract to add $8 million over the next two years and an additional $30 million in guarantees, his agent, Ken Sarnoff, told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Johnson also added one year at $25 million to the deal and is now under contract through the 2027 season.

He will earn $48 million over the next two years, including $40 million guaranteed.

Johnson, 34, has been named to six Pro Bowls, including in each of the past three seasons, and has twice been named first-team All-Pro.

They needed a year to eat dead money while also giving them space to extend Jurgens this year and Carter next season. They've lost some serious depth but the drop off from Becton to Steen overall is minimal. In the run game it's gonna hurt. Camp reports last season had Slay/Rodgers/Ringo about equal. Hunts still raw but the talent is there and pretty sure they're taking an edge rusher early in the draft. I have zero confidence in Brown, you can get a day 1 starter in the 2nd round and post draft any players they sign don't count against the comp pick formula so they could add a Veteran safety. Overall still one of the most talented teams in the league.

If he wants to tighten the belt to pay the core guys in the coming years, great. I just hope that core can keep finding success. Hell, it's nice to have a core worth paying.

The money that's being paid out to most of these guys is just insane.  I'm happy for all of them for getting every dime they can from the billionaire plantation slaveowners, though.

Still... it's kinda surprising how many of them have bolted.

But then again, Howie has some big bills coming due with core guys, so let the small fry go now, build up a huge cache of picks for cheap young talent, and let's keep this going.

Dallas signed Parris Campbell.

This is how they get rings in the building.  Free agency.
