Joe B won't get that many yards in the air with his somewhat depleted receiving crew, but he'll extend plays and move around outside the pocket in ways that will remind you of when Wentz was good.

That tie sucked but was probably my favorite eagles roadie ever.

I ended up playing craps with Jonathan Joseph and some other bengals late night at some shtein casino in Indiana.

WR options for Sunday against the Bengals

DeSean Jackson
Greg Ward
John Hightower
JJ Arcega-Whiteside

Of these, I have the most confidence in Ward.  Jackson is one bad attitude away from pulling up lame, Hightower gets open but can't catch, and JJAW makes Freddie Mitchell look like Randy Moss.

Post by: QB Eagles on September 25, 2020, 11:33:22 AM
Amazing that the number of signed WRs who are unavailable now matches the number who are able to play on Sunday.
Title: Re: Week 3 - Bengals: Memories Of A Tie
Post by: Diomedes on September 25, 2020, 12:33:31 PM
They have to elevate Deontay Burnett, right?  He's greater than JJAW in every way except the amount of capital the Eagles have vested in him.

Post by: Diomedes on September 25, 2020, 12:36:06 PM
Also...book this:  Cox won't play.  He's "day to day" right now with an abdominal injury.  At 0-2, facing the farging Bengals...you sit him down and let him heal, right?

I couldn't care less how much of a drop off it is behind him, he's the best player on the team, you can't play him hurt in a lost year against a shtein team.
Title: Re: Week 3 - Bengals: Memories Of A Tie
Post by: QB Eagles on September 25, 2020, 01:02:37 PM
Unfortunately this season he hasn't been in the best player on the team, or even on the defense. I would give that accolade to Slay.
Title: Re: Week 3 - Bengals: Memories Of A Tie
Post by: Diomedes on September 25, 2020, 01:12:34 PM
Fair point.  I forget Slay because he's got only two games in an Eagles uniform, and since he's not being targeted, I overlook him.

No Geno Atkins for Cincinnati.  Herbig Kelce Pryor won't complain about that.

Herbig will move to LG and Pryor will fill the RG spot.

Why do I see these asshats going up by double digits early only to have Burrow lead a comeback to make it close or win.

Because you're an optimist and think Wentz will play half a decent game.

Fletcher Cox is active.  So are Deontay Burnett and Genard Avery.  Hurts the #2 QB again.

Inactives:

• G Jamon Brown

• S Rudy Ford

• RB Jason Huntley

• WR Alshon Jeffery

• WR Jalen Reagor

• QB Nate Sudfeld

• DE Casey Toohill

Second offensive play of the game, after a  12 yard Mixon run to start, Gerry didn't know what the D call was...and Burrow went right at him for an 8 yard completion to Higgins.

I didn't get that either.  You have two great RBs, and the ball was just handed to you...go for it...worst case scenario, you're right back where you were when the Eagles gave you the free try.

100%.

You have to go Seattle style and design your offense around the idea that your line sucks. Wentz is using his legs more today which I like but they also need to roll him out more and keep extra people back to chip.

They likely expected their line to be a strength until about a month ago so it's kind of a scramble for them to work around it.

The play before that sack, the dump off to Sanders...Wentz makes him leap for the ball..no time to turn and make anything of it despite being in open space when the ball arrives.

Minor thing, but Wentz is just not accurate right now, at all.
Title: Re: Week 3 - Bengals: Memories Of A Tie
Post by: General_Failure on September 27, 2020, 01:48:50 PM
No, the accuracy is pretty much the major thing. The offense works fine if not for that.

What I mean is, it probably didn't matter too much to that play, but it sure as farg didn't help Sanders to have to jump for it.

Yep.  I said the same thing.  They don't have the balls to do it but it's Hurts time and Hurts isn't even a legit NFL QB.  At this point neither is Wentz, so...

I said he was like RGIII but it's actually worse since the Eagles gave him a mega contract. So the price of switching to Hurts or someone else is effectively having a much small salary cap than other teams.

Realistically can't trade him until after 2021 season and can't cut him until after 2022.

Only exception to that would be if he balls out the rest of this season enough that a team is willing to give the Eagles a huge haul to make the dead money worth it. But if that happens you probably won't want him to be gone.

Since they got a farging ring out of it this time, it's a little hard to be upset about the collapse. I still want the whole roster blown up, coaches and Howie fired, and a new color scheme, but whatever.

And damn did I pick the best game to not watch!  Didn't get to bed till 3 AM and there was no farging way I was getting up at 6:45 AM to watch this circus.  This is the first birds game in my life I have purposely missed.  Missed a few because traveling for business on a Sunday and London game at 2:45 AM which I was able to DVR and watch immediately upon waking up but never, ever missed a game just, well because.

I knew something was up when I got up turned on my phone and saw all the vomit and middle finger emoji's from Seabiscuit.

Watched condensed game on NFL Ticket with wife during dinner.  Even knowing the outcome and reading all the comments, 7 hours later it was painful but I had hope.  Sanders, G. Ward, Ertz, Jake, D Line (albeit the 100 sacks and hurries were against a rookie) were the positives.  Sick of Wentz and his stupid decisions, Doug and his vagina, joke of a secondary, LB's getting progressively worse.  AND Peters needing two TEs helping him!

Burrow looked impressive.
