Yeah, what can I say, I was wrong. Good stuff. ;) But you have to admit, everytime a bad defense goes out and gets a couple FAs, that doesn't automatically equal a complete change like that. We'll also see how good they are throughout the year, after that emotional game with the whole Milloy debacle.
I have Miami, that was supposed to be a great weak for my defense at home this week. :puke
Scores aren't final, and some people still have players/defense going tonight.
NinjaC 60.50 (Akers)
Melvinators 62.00
Desecrating Darths 65.00
DarkAngels 65.50 (Pinkston)
East Falls Boozers 60.00
Hackville Hooligans 45.50 (Chad Lewis & Gramatica)
Muffed Punts 72.50
Wicked Stallions 74.50
Philly Crew87.00
McTeam 57.00 (McNabb)
Hardcore 73.50
Devil Dogs 56.00 (Philly def.)
Tight Balls 78.00
Neon Love Chickens 80.50 (Buckhaulter)
DeepBallas 47.00 (Tampa def.)
Revengeful Ninjas 57.00 (Keyshawn)

I still have Akers going which won't catch you in points, but should give me the victory. :-\
All McNabb needs to do is score thirty points and McTeam wins. It's in the bag.
By the way...I hate that I scored at the top of the league and will still lose the week. Hate that. :boom

I noticed that. I figured that Akers would have a good game tonight and it might come down to a FG.
It's my own dumbness, I had Joey Galloway on the bench with 16 pts. and farging Peerless Price in my starting lineup with a lousey 3 farging points. :-[
My real problem is at qb. I don't know how much longer Warner will be starting if he keeps fumbling, and losing. ???

Just as I should have known that Jeff Blake was going to out play Drew Bledsoe. :'(
Hehe...2-0 baby. Won in this league and in the keeper league...and that was with some pretty suckie performances by my starters and a few poor decisions by the front office.... ::)
Well after the Eagles getting their asses kicked and losing to PG by 1/2 a point in the CFFFL... id have to say my only fond moment of yesterday was kicking the shtein out of Thawk in the keeper league! better luck next time. :evil
Corey Dillon and Curtis Martin didn't break 100 yards combined! farging dicks.
Gannon still rocks though they lost to the Titans. Anyway, I made a good start. ;D
:boom :bash I needed 2 points from Akers one way or another!! Is that too much to ask for? >:(
You could'a had a TD reception from him if Koy spots him in the back of the endzone.
I beat MURP....

I feel your pain MURP. >:(
We lost by a combined 2 points!! :puke
You may want to check your rosters as Zanshin and I made a trade, forging our respective teams into the most powerful in the league.
You're all dead.
Yeah, I've gotten that underachieving, second-string runner that I've always wanted. ;D
Who got the better end of that deal do you think? Curious.
Depends if the Patsies plan on using Smith this season. The trade, as I saw it, was basically Booker for Chambers which I would call a wash.
The only reason I would say I got the better deal is because of my misplaced respect for Booker's Skills.
I have to agree. Pretty even deal. It's not Booker I'm worried about...it's Stewart. But if they plug in Grossman, it could be a different story. I just think Owens would have a hard time producing in that wacky O.
Zanshin came out ahead. Antowain has a chance to make it but the other RB is a scrub. Booker is a good WR but Kordell is going to kill his numbers. Not sure about Grossman either as a rookie. I would prefer a less talented Chambers with a better QB playing in a better offense.
In the immortal words of Burrito Boy...

lol! Oh don't worry.......I'll be back.......
Yeah...and guess who else is 2-0 ::)

You mean teams RUN the ball in the NFL? I thought RBs were all but obsolete.
Only in Andy Rieds offense.
shtein, there ain't a player on the Eagles who's done anything, the offense can't even get close enough for Akers to do any real scoring.

Yeah, if. Seems there are a lotta' if's in this game. I'm trying not to think about them. I'm getting screwed so far with Peerless Price. Thought I might get lucky with Quincy Carter, and then Tiki Barber dissapears for that game.

Don't ever say I didn't do anything for you. ;)
I may be the most retarded person to walk (stumble) this Earth.
I decided it would be a good idea to trade Donovan McNabb and Jimmy Smith for Joe Horn, Brad Johnson, and Michael Pittman, failing to realize that Johnson has a bye week this week which leaves me no QB.
Oh well, I was kind of hoping for a winless season anyway. :D
Well.......I didn't exactly dazzle anyone with brilliance when I drafted Warner.
Oh well.....like my Pappy used to say, "if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshtein."
I'm hanging on though, I have the lowest point total of any winning team, and less than some with a worse record. I'm wondering how long it can last. ???

I know Holcome fractured/broke his leg last week against San Fran so I would imagine there's a distinct possibility that Couch will get some playing time this week.
From ESPN:
Tim Couch will start at quarterback for Cleveland on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, replacing the injured Kelly Holcomb.

Yeah, but they could still pull some guy off the street. I hear Leaf is available. :)
Better look out in Jacksonville, Leftwich could start with Burnell hurting because of a laceration to his arm. A decisions probably won't be made until game time though.
Ramsey is going against the Pats defense. If I knew for shore that Leftwhich was starting, I'd go with him in a second.
decisions....decisions.
You think you got a tough decision, I have a choice between Bledsoe and Plummer. Bledsoe is going against our injury depleted D that gave up 3 td's against the Pats mediocre offense or Plummer going up against that vaunted Detroit D with the worst secondary in the NFL.
You can't play Bledsoe this week. Just on principle.
That's what I'm thinking, but Bledsoe could go off against our injured secondary, especially with Henry a little banged up, Bledsoe may throw the ball more.

lol, is that so? according to the roster moves in that league you only added and dropped your defensive players... which everyone did because of Yahoo screwing up the autodraft and giving everyone defensive players who were horrid. Other than that you made no trades or FA pickups of any QB's, RB's, WR's, TE's, K's, or defensive teams. Care to explain that? :P
You can set up Yahoo Fantasy Football so you use individual defensive players? Let's do it that way next year.

Yes. I have that going in another league. I like it. On a related note, in that league Simeon Rice scored 19 pts by himself! That is obscene. Typical defensive player numbers range from 2-7 with that scoreing configuration.
That's the way a league I was in through Sandbox.com did it last year. It's a lot more fun because even if a team has a zesty defense, they still probably have a player or two that's pretty good. For example, last year, I wouldn't have picked up the Colts' D unless I got a free horse with it (neeeeiiiiigh!), but Marcus Washington played very well.

lol, compared to what? Lets see the truth in this.
1. In any one of your wins, you can subtract the amount of points your defensive players got and you would have still won the game.
2. Your defensive players have scored 64 points out of your 760 points making their contribution at about 8%. My
last place teams defenders scored 86 out of 701 points for a 12% contribution.
Whats that say? All of the players you "picked up" for your team have had no impact whatsoever in the outcome of your season. Combined with the autodraft, NB's origional statement of luck was acurate so far.
on the other hand, a great job in the CFFFL league for assembling a winner so far.

Coles, George, and McNabb (to Wicked Stallions)
for
Ricky Williams (Mia), David Boston (to NinjaC)
Hmmm .... Coles has a string of three 60 yd no TD games, and George and McNabb are having their worst seasons ever with no end in sight. Williams is the third best RB in the league, and Boston just had the second best day of any receiver this season. In two weeks or so this will give NinjaC a starting backfield of Marshall Faulk and Ricky Williams in a 16 team league. Not bad.
I'd say this trade sucks for WS. jmo, but what do i know .....

I agree. This is why I wish there was a voting period.
First of all there IS a voting period, but you have to pay attention and visit the site. Also when you signed in if you allowed the league/site to send you messages via email, then you should have been notified that a trade was pending.
Second of all, Faulk is said to be out longer than anticipated so I won't have that backfield for awhile and now my QBs are Beurlien and Brees, that is hardly an advantage. Not too mention the fact that although D.Boston did have a big day, it was ONE DAY! Where as Coles has been doing it all season. Yeah he hasn't had a TD in a couple weeks but we're talking about Coles here, the guy is a top WR. And Boston has done nothing but dissapoint by bad performance or injuries.
What it really comes down to, is Boston is HIGH risk/high reward. He either dissapoints/gets injured or he can get you lots of points. If you look at the first six weeks, you'll notice that he has been very dissapointing.
So I basically traded away a struggling McNabb (but he is McNabb, a potential top 10 fantasy player each season who could break out anytime and knowing me he'll do it this week), a starting RB in George and a top 3 WR for Ricky Williams.
I needed a big time player in R.Williams due to the fact that Faulk has been out but now my QBs are weak for the rest of the season.
Martz appears likely to push back Faulk's return date (http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/Sports/Rams/1819A56223CD3C4A86256DC30014E43A?OpenDocument&Headline=Martz+appears+likely+to+push+back+Faulk's+return+date)
QuoteWith Marshall Faulk doing some light jogging behind him, Rams coach Mike Martz said Friday after practice that he's not so sure Faulk will be healed in time for the game Oct. 26 at Pittsburgh.
"I would imagine he's a few weeks away yet," said Martz, who only two days earlier thought Faulk would be ready for the Steelers game. "It's going to be a little while yet. He's not quite ready. We're not in a hurry to get him back, not because we don't need him. It's just that when he comes back we want him fully recovered."
:boom :boom :bash :bash
I had to do the trade. Plummer, my QB, is out for 5 weeks with the broken foot and my other QB was Doug Johnson, who was benched for Kurt Kittner. And Vick is coming back in the near future. So with the pickings slim for a QB.
I hated giving up Ricky Williams, but in order to get a starting QB I chose to do so. Ricky has been quiet lately as well. Since he had those 42 carries in the Buffalo game, he hasn't seemed to be himself.
David Boston had that career day against the poor Jaguars defense. San DIego is 0-5 and they're going down the tubes fast. Schottenheimer is a run oriented coach and he has his horse in Tomlinson. Add in Boston's volatile attitude and he could very well get himself into the dog house again.
I did the trade on potential mostly. I am not counting on McNabb sucking for 11 more weeks, nor do I expect the Titans to file away George in the back of the offense. Coles has been held down the last few weeks, but a lot of that has to do with Ramsey not having time to get the ball out.
I know how you feel Phreak. Kurt Warner was my no. 1 pick. Now he's unclaimed, floating around in fantasy football nowereland. I had to trade away some good players to get a starting qb, and got lucky claiming Leftwitch.
If McNabb turns it around, which I think is bound to happen one of these weeks, you could end up on the top end of that trade.
Hell, it's all a crap shoot anywayz.

I opted to get e-mails...and I don't get notifications of pending trades; also, I think there's a good chance that it was pushed through early.
And before you get carried away, it's an observation not an indictment.
In my opinion, it was a pretty one-sided deal...as are most deals that leverage acutual production vs. the ever-elusive potential. It would have looked a lot less suspect before the season started, but things being as they are, that's my thought.

Agreed Gthistle, if this was a $$$ league i would bitch.
I have Bulger AND Brooks, and would have been willing to give up either plus Burress for Williams.
That being said, I now am putting either one on the block for a good RB. Pay attention you guys with Warner, McNabb, Buerlien, Plummer, and any QB ending in "ington".
A package deal is not out of the question for a stud.
BTW, i didn't say that trade was colusion, or should be vetoed, I just didn't think it was a good one for WS. jmo
ill give you Duckett for either QB. :D
I have seen a couple trades go through that I didn't know about until after and didn't get a chance to veto. No need to trip, You move on.
Boston for Coles -- Phreak obviously wins that.
He was desperate for depth so he got E.George and McNabb for Williams who has STRUGGLED fantasy wise for about 3-4 weeks straight. Boston has had ONE good week.
This trade is not as one sided as you think. I understand the trading of proven talent vs. potential as you say, but considering how R.Williams has been shut down for 3-4 weeks straight now and Boston has only had one week worth a shtein, I don't get where you are getting this one-sided stuff.
For example, this weekend the amazing unfair :'( combo of Boston and Williams got me a total of 10 points as my fantasy team scored me thee lowest total I have ever seen let alone scored myself of 28.50 I didn't even know that was possible. :boom
Boston hasn't done shtein. Williams hasn't done shtein in a while, Lamar Gordon is hurt, my team is in shambles right now.
So quit your crying and start laughing at my sorry azz team. ;D ;)

Better to be lucky than good. Just ask the Eagles.
That's not exactly fair, Zanshin.
in my other league, I am lucky...that's an autodraft (although I won with my chosen defensive players this week...MURP ;) )
I had to do some good research to see who could have a better game of the QBs available. Delhomme was playing against the Titans without Samari Rolle. He was going to pass...I didn't just throw him in without knowing what COULD happen. I didn't luck out with Torry Holt or Peyton manning. I don't have a stud RB, while others do. I have a stud WR and a stud QB. Again, not luck, draft planning.

It's a little fair. Take a look at your total points for the season.
That's not a knock on you, by the way. Good job with what you had...more of an observation in general. Luck and matchups are key in FFL, no matter how you slice it. Don't want you to think I'm picking on you. ;)

Absolutely. The way the schedule shakes out can be the difference between undefeated and a losing record, easily-- and that's regardless of the talent on your team; especially in larger leagues where the talent is spread pretty thin across the board.
I never said luck wasn't part of it...but Zanshin made it seem like luck was the only reason I was 6-1...which isn't exactly fair.

My draft strategy of not going for the stud RB worked. I got a stud WR and a stud QB and I'm kicking everyone's asses.
Luck has a part in it sure, but its not ALL luck. Maybe 3 weeks ago you could say something like that, but not at this point in the season.

Draft strategy huh? You drafted:
1. Manning 2. Garner 3. Holt 4. Heap 5. Emmitt 6. Pinkston 7. Viniatieri 8. GB DEF 9. Betts 10. Holcomb 11. Muhammad 12. Deshaun Foster 13. Jason Whitten 14. Wayne Chrbet 15. Justin Fargas.
I have to give it to you for selecting Manning and Holt. You haven't had anything from RB's and are still 7-1. Good job. You still had two wins by 1/2 point but a win is a win.

Well, you can win without your good players. I won without Manning...I picked up Delhomme.
Now, if my team TOTALLY sucked and I was winning by JUST luck because of the fact that I ONLY have 2 good players, that wouldn't have happened, you see now? ;D

So, you're saying that picking up a fill-in QB is the same as picking up a starting RB in our 16-team league? You're delusional. Any QB can have a good game in a given week against the right matchup.
Any backs out there that can account for Priest Holmes? LOL...Most third string backs are already on rosters. Don't talk silly-- you must know better.
Boo and hoo.
I was teasing, hence the gigantic smiley face next to my post.

My point is related to your nonsense about Delholmme, obviously. And you're winning without RBs because you are playing the right opponents at the right times...again, as evidenced by the scoring totals. There's nothing wrong with that-- but that's a fact. Had the schedule worked out differently, you'd be at the bottom of the league! Same goes for anyone, so don't take it personally. But you're winning in large part due to luck, not some sort of magic drafting acumen.
Besides, I might be able to eek it out this weekend. We'll have to see. :paranoid

I watched the game on and off and Banks actually didn't look half bad yesterday. He's always been a very inconsitant quarterback though. One week he looks great and the next week he looks like a DE trying to play quarterback.

What did he have yesterday? Two receptions for 20 some yards? This is suppose to be our no.1 reciever? He's really earning the money from his new contract. He isn't even as good as he was last year. So far anywayz.

No Pinkston isn't supposed to be our #1, neither is Thrash. Coach Reid really means it when he says that their is no #1 WR in his system, he doesn't feel the need to go out and get one because his system is almighty and unstoppable no matter who you put in there. :boom
2 years ago Thrash has 60+ catches, last season Pinky had 60+ catches, if they could BOTH put together a 60+ catch season in the SAME season I would honestly be happy with that in the short term.
I honestly thought that Pinkston was going to break out this year AS the #1. He put up good numbers last year, with the #1 QB out for 6 of the games.
I drafted him thinking this. It wasn't a bad strategy, Pinkston has just disappointed big time.
I thought Pinkston was going to have a year like last season, I never really had a reason to think Pinky would ever break out as a #1. But I did think he'd be solid and atleast expose bad corners as he has done in the past.
To me a #1 can beat good corners, I don't see PInky or Thrash ever being good enough to beat good defenses and good CBs.

Aaron Brooks
Kelly Holcomb (starting)
Tim Rattay (Garcia may be out longer than expected)
Brian Griese (Fiedler should be out longer than expected)
Danny Kannell
Drew Brees

Tell me about it. Here's to hoping the Eagles O puts on an efficiency and scoring clinic-- but without much use of Buckhalter, because I have another game on the line against him in another league ;).
Once again, I'm just playing the wrong people at the wrong times. In another league, I scored 163 points which is hands-down HUGE-- and I'm somehow trailing by a point! In that league, I have Simoneau left to go...so here's to hoping he has a monster game.

:'( Come on Phreak, don't let PG win this one ;)
I hope Tennessee's defense falters tonight providing a victory for the Losers that will prove that I am the most skillful Fantasy Owner of All Time.
Tennessee's D has been getting me 10-20 points a week. Not worried too much ;)
But they're going against your lover-boy Chad Pennington! He'll carve them a new one. 8)
It'll be because the shark tooth hat is back
NB, gimme your QBs. ;)
Well, it was fun. Considering my no. 1 pick hasn't seen any action since week 2, I don't think I did too awful bad. :-D

You beat me by a few measly points...lol. You sound like Cowboys fans talking about how they "spanked" us in the first game this year. Only difference is...the Cowboys still have a slight chance to make the playoffs...and your season is over. ;D
Got some healthy players back for this coming week, its all good.
Go Satoshi, go Satoshi, go go go Satoshi! :P ;D
For the big game, I got some great QBs in my team. Tim Hasselbeck and Jay Fiedler!! Woooo!
If A-train is on the field, my team won't lose so big.

Hey dont worry, PG has had a horrible team all season and kept winning.
PG defied the rules of having no RBs and still winning.
Anyways, I'll try to make a good decision for this week. ;)

Please never compare me to a Cowboys fan again. That's the most hurtful thing I've ever read. :'(

I think I will lose to PG. I should have chosen Hasselbeck. Anthony Thomas sucked.
Fiedler you do suck... :boom

Seriously, wtf is your problem?
Well I have a few with you, but in this case it is simply that you are on top and you have been all year so you must be taken down. :D
whatever, NB
yeah, NB is angry with you because you were nice enough to pick him up at the airport and drive him to the CF tailgate.

All year long, he's only wanted two things in FF...to beat me and MURP. Makes no sense to me, but oh well.
It's lonley at the top PhillyGirl. ;)Everyone wants to beat the best, but in this case it won't be easy. How many have you lost, like 2 games in the last 10? Even when your team doesn't score a lot of points, you still win. You beat me by a pt. and a half. Im a grown man with kids whose been watching football for 30 years or more for Gods sake, and a girl in her early twenties whips my ass along with the rest of the league.
Now that I'm out of it, I'd like to see you win it all. It would be only fitting that the resident female smartass wins the CFFFL. Good luck.
P.S. you might look at this post as the kiss of death, but I had to say it.

No that was MUCH MUCH appreciated and I am very thankful towards the two of you and have always said so. You are the same as always, PG is the one with some sort of problem directed towards me since I came out there or since I made a comment she misunderstood on the EMB or something stupid like that. I don't have a problem, I am just giving her a hard time over her team.
The only thing is it was very frustrating to see her team win all season like that, and beat my team when she had such a horrible team. If Thawk, or Phreak or you MURP or anyone had that team I'd be trying to beat them and wanting them to lose, I mean she was on top all season and kept winning and winning. I just get too carried away with the competitiveness and want her team to lose I suppose.
I guess I shouldn't have made the, "I have a few with you." comment, I was just doing that to mess with her, didn't know she would take it seriously as if I have/had a problem with her. Why would I? The only reason I made the comment earlier in the year about how I wanted to beat you MURP and PG more than anyone, is because you two are the only ones I ever really met, albeit for a very small time. Just like in my other league with my bro my dad, some others in the office and some family back east, I want to beat the people I know more than the others. Not that i know either of you really, but it would just be sweeter, that wasn't meant bkuz I don't like you guys or anything stupid like that, just competition.
I appreciate both of your kindness towards me when I went out there, that is the truth. Everything else is just nonsense over a MB on the internet that I can't explain. I guess you all look at it differently because you actually know a lot of people on here and hang out with them, where as for me it is just a bunch of strangers I can talk Eagles with and pass some of the down time during work each day while sitting in my cubicle.
So I guess I just don't take it as serious and tend to argue with people and get on peoples bad sides because in the end it doesn't matter. I don't intend any ill will towards anyone. Just messin around.
Yeah, blah, blah, blah.
Who has the rings? 5 rings baby, count 'em 5 rings! Wait, er, one ring, 1 ring baby! You guys have won nothing. I got a ring baby!
Btw, i'm still waiting for that ring, did you send it out yet?
How many rings have the Dark Angels won? :P

Closet Cowgirls fan? Sounds line one to me. Ban him!! ;)
Whoa, the Dark Angles just scored 103 pts., getting 41 pts. from qb Peyton Manning! The coach in her "late twenties ???", must be happy with that. Still has Pinky going tonight.
Congratulations PG.
I can't win games. I suck.
Thanks!
Ritchie Anderson got me 12 points! LMFAO!

I don't think it was Ritchie Anderson that did me in. I think it hay have something to do with Peyton Manning's five TD day. At least he didn't play most of the fourth quarter or it would have been even uglier.
barring a career day by Ty Wheatley , you are looking at the 2003 CFFFL champion. 8)

You mean my computer monitor is going to win? Congrats to my monitor! :yay
That's what happens when you put all your chips on Manning, he never comes through in the big games. Congrats Troy, I really thought PG was going to win it all but you pulled it out. Sorry PG, but you had a GREAT run. Good stuff this year. ;)
