Starting to get excited about the game today. Didn't give Philly a lot of chance but I like hearing how everyone is picking GB, that helps the Birds chances.
Finally! Lets do this!
Not the best start there.
why return that?
Love listening to "Going The Distance" from the Rocky films as the game starts. fargANFAJLDBFAESJOBGBGSHDFBFKHDBVJDBSKFHDSLKJFDSF
And that's how it's gonna go all day.
OK then, 2 plays, 2 stupid plays
lol at letting guys run free on first play of the game. Good blocking schemes reid
There you go. Quick drop and dunk.
Attack of the stupid as farg gimmick plays.
jesus christ what a terrible call
whatever plays has Matthews in coverage, like the Avant play, keep doing that
Eagles ball.
Hell of a break there.
That won't go our way, don't worry
Whoooooaaa!! A break for Philly??!!
Unless they can't challenge that? Can you challenge a guy being blockedi nto the ball?
Guess it don't matter now. Good quick snap.
30 more of those, please. Keep feeding McCoy.
get a motherfcking TD hereeeeeeeeeeee
Shady all day and don't ever put Peters in the backfield again.
I love how surprised and excited the crowd sounds when Vick hands it to shady lol
Yeah, throw it to the last friggin' guy on the field that should touch the ball. GENIUS!
Come on Akers
farg
Telegraphing there, Mike.
Come on.
Blown opportunity.
Great job, farg faces
farg!
I still like that 3rd down call - 3 step drop and get rid of it quick.
I definitely like it more than Akers right now.
Reid didn't adjust the game plan one bit. It's the same predictable shtein he's been calling for the past month.
farg you Akers, that miss had shtein to do with the wind.

Because it's so tricky, the Packers won't know what to do!!
two plays, two guys running wide open.
Front four needs to get some pressure on Rodgers, damnit.
Well, dropped passes are probably the only way they're going to make the Packers punt today. So far, so good!
It's like the bad car crash, you don't want to look but you keep watching Dimitri Patterson trying to defend.

Speaking of tricky, the line movement there gave the Packers some trouble figuring out who was coming, but that pass could still have been caught. Lucky.

And we can all relate to dropped passes.
eagles got stopped by a good defensive play and a bad FG kick....packers got stopped by a wide open WR dropping a sure first down.
This bodes well!!!
Shotgun inside their own ten. Farg these guys.
Alright...get HOF Celek involved over the middle. That's one adjustment made. way to Reid
Any tool who wears that cheese head at the opposing teams stadium deserves to be punched, kicked in the scrotum.
Vick had a ton of room to run there
Ugggggggggh Maclin....almost had that one.
That'll be McCoy's last run for the next ten plays.
That was incredible coverage by Shields.
wtf celek
DeSean out...yay.
Who you kidding GF? It's 2nd and 20....we'll get two runs here
Oh farg.
He got rolled up on pretty good.
Shake it of Pimp, come on

Hope he's alright.
Offense looks zesty
McCoy is just awesome, but it would be nice if he learned to hold on to the ball.
oh man this game is not good for my health
Bad cutback by McCoy, and still almost tunred it into a first down.

Turnover time. Let's go!
FUUCKERS!!!
farging jerkoffs. Keenan Clayton hold the farg up
Is the defense going to remember to hold their hands, since they're going to walk the Packers down the field?
Don't worry, they'll adjust.
sims blows
Getting dangerously close to the Free Score Zone. Hit that 20 and book a TD for GB
Yep there it is.
This looks like a fargin classic fail. Packers commiting to the run and we just sling that shtein for nothing.
why can't the Eagles have good linebackers?
Will anyone be upset if Ernie Sims is gone next year?
Does Starks = Mungro?
lol unfargingreal. They're letting guys like John Kuhn get open.

3rd and short. Here's a gut check..
That shotgun run play has been the only run they've been using all season....stop that. Put McCoy behind Vick and run it straight ahead.
Vick passes the test, barely. And sticks his neck out again.
Ugh.
How much better is McCoy in the deep back set? It lets him use his vision better to find the cutback lane.
Backpedal more, Vick. You might still have more passing yards than sack yards.

If the egales can just sign 5-6 defensive all pros for the D this off season they will be ok there.
How did these fargers even make it to the NFL??
The Eagles red zone defense is so bad, the NFL should make a rule that gives teams 6 points once they cross the 20 yard line.
And the game kick in the balls goes to...
Another stellar blitz from the boy wonder to set that up
Its gonna be strange but that giants coemback was the worst thing that could have happened to them

GB shooting themselves in the foot and the Eagles saying "oh yeah, we'll shoot ourselves in the balls!"

How can you call plays on D with DE's covering WR's when your CB's can't even cover them
This is maddening.
Stop this guy. farg!
McDermott can eat a farging dick. Covering Donald farging Driver with Darryl farging Tapp....
To little, to late defense.
Huge stop on 3rd and 1...as big as it is surprising
Shoulda made these stops in the 1st half, iceholes

Fokou...stop celebrating. You ain't stopped shtein all day until then.
Let's see who the next Goat is.
Justice penalties?
INT?
Sack/fumble?
I was giving McDermott a pass this year due to all the injuries but am now convinced he has been infected by the same brain killing virus that has stricken the rest of the staff.
Justice replaced. Is Reid actually giving a damn?
Dunlap replaces Injustice. Apocolypto.
Now they play small ball. WTF!
Waste more time, Vick. Waste it all!
Celek was open for 20 minutes :boom
Why did you call a QB draw there? jesus

We should run that QB draw more often. Who needs more than 1 goal line play, anyway??
I'm sure they won't need those timeouts to get the ball back.
Doesn't matter if they score. Not like the defense can make a stop.
Good to see the urgency there too. iceholes.
So QB draw again? Celek drop?
Seriously...throw the ball there or run it with McCoy. At lesat if it's incomplete the clock stops, and vick scrambling >>>>>> planned vick run

I'm ready for triple fake Herremans catch
Glad they needed to use a timeout to go with the most obvious play.
TD.....whew

I was talking about the 3rd down draw. The Sneak was the right call on 4th and less than 1
3:2 game losing play

I think the Eagles can draft as low as 24, maybe 23
LOL mad lad. Game over!!

Holding them to 21 is great, and much better than I expected, but the Packers left a lot of drives on the field with dropped or sloppy passes. Still, this game isn't on the defense. At least, it isn't mostly on the defense. Take into consideration the entire year, and yeah, they need a lot of new things for next year. Coaches, players, schemes.
The Packers D is very underrated. They contained the Eagles offense the same way defenses have for the past month.
The D blows and they do deserve blame. Sure they only gave up 21, but they could have easily of given up a lot more (Jones drop). I will give credit to McDermott for his half time adjustments because the D clearly came out and played much better. Bottom line is the redzone D is horrid, they need D backs and they need a better pass rush.

Better to throw it there to Cooper than Avant, they got the match up they wanted. Vick needed to put it over the cB and let Cooper go up and get it. Just a bad throw.
I love the fact that the matchup they wanted involved Riley Cooper with the season on the line.

It was an absolutely terrible throw. On a rope right to the cornerback. He hardly had to adjust. Turned around and the ball was hand delivered. And yes how farging weird that it comes down to a throw to Riley Cooper.
Very frustrating, because even throwing it out the back of the end zone would have been just fine. Oh well.
still cant believe Vick wanted that throw.
one on one coverage with arguably GB's best cover corner throwing it to Riley friggin Cooper for a game winner is what frustrates me even more than the misguided throw. I dont care if hes tall or not, recognize who you are throwing it to.
the throw was so bad because it spit in the face of common sense down and distance...if you werent paying attention or just tuned in as that play was happening you would have thought there was no time left in the game and that was the eagles last play
also major major error in not spiking the ball on that play and regrouping....you had first and ten...down the ball get your wits about you...huddle up and get your best play in vicks ear

Akers found out the Friday before the game his 6 year old daughter might have cancer (http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/20110130_More_to_struggle_of_Eagles__Akers_than_missed_kicks.html)
QuoteAfter the game, Andy Reid uncharacteristically singled out Akers, saying, "We can all count. Those points would have helped."
Knowing that Reid was aware of Halley's condition, Akers was deeply hurt by those comments.
I farging HATE Reid.
I disagree that he's calling out Akers there. It's a simple fact that they lost by 5 and Akers missed two field goals. Also, based on Akers' career to date, he prides himself on being able to block out the world and just kick. The first kick was right into the wind, and I don't blame AR for trotting him out there again, thinking that the odds were in their favor that he wouldn't miss again.
What would you have Reid do here? Sign another kicker two days before a playoff game? Keep the guy on the sideline when you want to put 3 points on the board? Refuse to acknowledge that the missed field goals loomed large over the outcome of the game?
Just like IGY with Banner/Roseman, you are reaching here. Significantly.

Please... the article even said no doctor even mentioned cancer. Is this the second or third excuse floated out by akers since this game?
Akers is a 12 year vet that missed 2 FGs that should have been made. Whether they won or lost the game because of those, who knows. But the fact remains that Akers cost the eagles a chance to win.
Reid's gone without a superbowl appearance next season anyway, sit back and enjoy the trainwreck that is eagles football.
Its time to move on, they werent going to win the next game anyway.
LOL, other excuses? WHAT other excuses? That he had his mind on a family crisis? Yeah, that would be this.
Akers has never made excuses, in all of his years here. Defending Reid over this is mind-boggling.
I'm not defending Reid. I am bashing akers. The only thing I am "defending" reid over is that I don't see anything wrong with him "calling out" a player or two once in a while.
Akers has long proven that he is a baby with his career of whining after bad games, or bad seasons.
Really? Please enlighten me of his long proven history of whining.
And I'm sorry, when your child is in the oncology unit at a hospital, yeah, you might not be able to have your head on straight. Bashing him is farging ridiculous and you sound like a douche.
akers missed the first kick because the wind was blowing about 100 miles an hour at him.
the second kick was on him, but suggesting they lost because of akers is laughable even for reid. of course, reid has made a career out of dodging responsibility for monstrous choke jobs, so his tossing the kicker under the bus because his defense couldn't stop a side full of jerry's kids playing in wheelchairs isn't exactly news.
First Jimmy Johnson totes the spinal cancer excuse after the Eagles lost to the Cardinals in the NFCCG, now this nonsense with Akers and his kid. I swear it's always something.

If it wasn't a factor, then Akers shouldn't mind the criticism because it has absolutely nothing to do with his daughter.
It is was a factor, Akers should have told Reid that his kicking was going to be affected, before the game. Otherwise it's no different than when a running back tells his coach his knee is fine, then goes out and runs like shtein because his knee is busted. That knowledge would have helped Reid make kicking decisions in the game.
From everything I've heard online and right after the game, he was having issues kicking them in pregame as well. Reid knew he was having trouble.

you can count on one hand the number of players andy reid has called out in his life and now twice in the last month of the season he calls out an all time great eagle whos been with him his entire tenure...me thinks theres more involved here...like the turning down of a low ball contract extension offer
as for akers himself...dont farging play the game if you cant get the job done...but once you step on the field and compete you are expected to make those kicks...PERIOD
I'm not disagreeing that he should make the kicks but quite frankly, was there another option at PK if Akers said that morning that he couldn't go? If its a choice between Akers in a state of complete mindfarg and no one, who do you take?

He kicked the 2nd one exactly the same way.
And has kicked in similar conditions plenty of times.
OK, lets see how we can make this more clear:
1. he missed practice on friday because of his daughter.
2. Reid KNEW there was this going on
3. Reid put him out there in a situation where on his best day, he'd rarely miss it. But knowing that his kicker wasn't near 100%, he put him out there on a 4th and inches down 11.
4. It was far more than Akers that lost that game (defense, offense, special teams coverage) yet Reid throws him under the bus after the game.
5. Reid is a douche for doing so.
how anyone can dispute that is beyond me.
We dispute it because we like you when you're angry.
I didn't really think those comments are that big of a deal. It wasn't like he was belittling Akers he was making a statement. Was it in poor taste? Yes absolutely.

PG...but the guy is a professional athlete and essentially a one of. They can't bring in some scrub a day or two before so it's on Akers to block that out, as challenging as it can be, and make his kicks.
And Reid should have gone for it on the short play. However he cannot coach scared or in protection of Akers. If he needs or decides the team needs a FG then Akers needs to go handle business.

Phreak, sure...he does. But at the same time, you can't throw ONLY him under the bus for missing it. I can see WHY his mind was not there.
I blame Dorenbos for not sprinkling some magic dust on the ball before snapping it.

For sure - the defense was more culpable than Akers. Total team failure.

Either way she'd get a dart in her funhole.

Hung like a dart, eh?
This is why Bissinger is awesome. Can't believe I missed it:
QuoteDavid Akers is a jerk, sorry. He plays at most 20 times a year. He is a profssional. He sucks it up or tells Reid he can't play. Instead he plays, plays lousy and then dimes Reid out for not being sensitive. Gimme a break Akers. Man up. Be a professional. Plus doctors indicated that Akers' daughter's entire ovary should be removed. They said no. Is that in the best interest of the child? I had a child who who weight 1 lb. 11 ounces when born in 1983. In ICU for seven months. Came home on supplemental oxygen. Trumatic yes. So Akers should have said that he simply could not work. But he was afraid of being called Hoyda. So he did the worst thing possible. And what do you think he told Reid--My head is in the clouds but I will what I can. I am sure he said he was fine and ready to go.
Please tell me that isn't from a professional writer.
Please?
you don't know who Buzz Bissinger is?
No.
Most famous for writing Friday Night Lights.
If you haven't read that, you're missing out.
I checked out his bio and I've heard of a lot of what he's written and seen the movies he's been a part of.
I truly can't believe his name was completely foreign to me. Kinda funny, actually.
hes also a huge philly guy and has lived there for a thousand years...was a famous inky writer as well
kill yourself now
Without looking at Google tell me who Thomas Pynchon is.

Taking pride in ignorance is the American way.
not knowing who that guy is ignorant?
or admitting you dont know who he is is ignorant?
You should try reading something serious sometime. It might hurt a little bit, but you'll be better for it. The brain needs exercise too, especially one like yours, atrophied from disuse and starved of meaningful input.

Thinking that a sports journalist is somehow an important writer, while not having any idea who Thomans Pynchon is, is ignorant.
And for the record, I don't like Pynchon. farg him and his impossibly dense, nihilistic nonsense.

okay lemme break it down for you:
Rome doesn't know Bissinger, admits it. Asks who he is. Educates himself about who the guy is a bit.
You ridicule him for not knowing a major Philly sportswriter.
He asks if you know anything about one of the most important living American writers, which you do not. You boast that you don't know who he is, and rather than bothering to learn anything about him or his work, announce that he is less important and notable than your sports writer.
You are quintessentially American, in the most MA way: an ignorant snob, proud of his lack of knowledge, disdainful of serious intellectual work, different from Palinites only insofar as you ascribe to a different brand of ignorance as your identity.
Yay you.
pay attention.
the godfather has spoken.

Ok, ok, hold up. First of all, you throwing too many big words at me. Now because I don't understand 'em.... I gon' take 'em as disrespect. Watch your mouth... and let's continue the convo.
I'm sorry, I didn't know you were so emphatical about this subject.

horrible breakdown btw
and sorry if its unfathomable to me how a sports fan from philadelphia could have never heard of buzz farging bissinger...im not even saying you have to like him...or you should read him...i wouldnt read friday night lights for a reward...but to never have heard of him...i mean his name is buzz bissinger...even romey laughed at himself
that would be like you having never heard of david simon...and if you hadnt id tell you to kill yourself twice...the time first being after you call anyone ignorant for not knowing and not wanting to know who jean claude tomas pynchon is
Actually that breakdown was 1000% on point. One of the most accurate message board personality evaluations I've seen in a while. Most of the self-styled psycho-analysts on this board are laughable in their attempts to quantify people. Dio seems to be better at it than most.
Ooh ooh, do me next! (No homo.)
Damn, Dio just brought the pain

Clown.
thats more like it and much better than the non sensical ramblings above
still laughing at someone being ignorant for not being interested in or having known tomas pinochet...that would literally make 99.9% of the world ignorant...which im sure you agree is true...but it also basically makes you a tucker carlson type elitist douche
With every post his assessment is shown to be more accurate. Incredible.
you just knew huge pinochet fan gf wouldnt be far behind
What can I say, I was a big Perfect Strangers fan in the 90s.

I wasn't actually criticizing IGY. We all know he's an ignorant wretch and proud of it too.
The post that started this was filled to the brim with misspellings and grammatical errors so naturally I assumed it was written by a blogger, not a nationally renown sportswriter.
Of course, what ensued afterward had me laughing hysterically on a dreary & miserable day, so well done all.
Lt. Slothrop can suck it. Franz Pokler for the win.
I switched that just for you. It was either that or a bottle of cheap bourbon.
Evan Williams holla
Who does he write for?
Entertainment Weekly. He's one of the best writers alive, possibly the best.
Definitely top five.
Haha. Touché.
wtf just happened ?
