How do you know who was on each team?  You taking what everyone had at the beginning of last year?

Post everyone's team so we all have an "official" starting point.

a keeper league for no money?  i don't understand how you're not getting bombarded with people who want in.

You can view past rosters through Yahoo.  Right now I'm only posting rosters of people who are either OUT or haven't contacted me so that people can decide if they want to take one of the teams.

I was 1st or 2nd place all season and played in the "championship" against Dio.

Chuck's team didn't make the playoffs, iirc.

Items of note:
- I emailed Chuck and Troy. Troy's email got bounced back so his team is on the block.
- Philly_Crew has requested Chuck's team, but Troy's team is available now if he wants it.
- Yahoo is ill equipped for keeper league drafting, or at least I've never handled a keeper league draft via yahoo, so I propose we do it on the board.
- If Chuck doesn't get back to me we will need one more team.
- Mikey, sign in to the league already.

Ha, so I was wrong. Troy dropped out last season. There isn't a team available for Munson.

This would be so sweet if I had actually planned it.

If mikey doesn't get back to me and sign up, then you can take his team, otherwise my bad.

3. T-Hawk
4. Sarge (still hasn't signed up, but confirmed that he's in)
5. Philly_Crew (was Chuck)
6. SunMo (was Zanshin)
7. HBionic (was FF)
8. Dio

Why can't we do this live? That's so much quicker and convenient. We could all edit the rankings, putting our respective keepers at the top of the list. For those of us who don't have rookies, we could pick absolute crap players with the 8th pick.

if we do it on the board, it'd probably go faster if we did it during a work day, because it seems that everybody is on here during the day.  we could do it over 2 days if necessary

I don't normally have computer access during the day, but I would be happy to give the commish a simple list for each of my picks.

this thread is a fine example of why i will never be a commish again ..everyone with some time they can't do, some goddamned idea, some stupid question, some moronic opinion...bunch of goddamned Hoydas

just announce the draft time and format and people can either get in line or farg off

DEAR iceholeS-

We will be holding the keeper league draft tomorrow morning at 10am. I will post the draft order as well as each team's designated keepers and try to update the thread with draft picks as thoroughly as possible. I do have a job, unlike you deadbeats, so I may drop out sporadically but I will do my best to keep things moving.

Love and kisses,

Last year I was in 5.  This year, just 1.  Although a lot of that has to do with the fact that most of the drafts took place while I was homeless and without sufficient internets access.

That's the tricky part of fantasy football. Do you go with a guy that has a QB like Manning, but not necessarily the #1 target or do you go with the #1 target with a craptastic QB?

I think Reggie Wayne balances out with Smith in this case. I'm sure they'll be pretty even all season.

I'd just like to point out that I'm in 1st place.

And since no one in this league is taking any initiative, I guess I'll try and do the whole weekly update thing regarding who made smart decisions and who didn't, etc, etc.

Week 4

Weekly High Score:  CrankyPantsMcGoo - 117.72  :yay
Weekly Low Score:  Spooge Inc. - 43.11 :-D

Record High Score:  CrankyPants McGoo - 153.42 (Week 2)
Record Low Score:  Spooge Inc. - 43.11 (Week 4)

Week 4 MVP:  Bears Defense, 29.47 pts - CrankyPantsMcGoo
Ronnie Brown, 26.70 pts - SunMoSyphillis

Highest Scoring Player to date:  Tom Brady*, 117.32 - Team Ramrod?

Oops:  Philly Phanatic Crew benched Tony Romo (37.96 pts) in favor of Donovan McNabb (3.92 pts).  Those 34 points left on the bench would have come in handy during a 20 point week 4 loss to Team Ramrod?.

Players on active rosters who did not play this weekend:

Spooge Inc. (2) B. Westbrook, A. Boldin
Team Ramrod? (1) C. Johnson (Det)
Philly Phanatic Crew (1)  L. Maroney

Carcharadons had a player with a -1.00 score this week.  Luckily that did not matter as his opponent (SunMoSyphillis) had five (5) players on his active roster who failed to score at least 5.00 fantasy points.

*Tony Romo (Philly Phanatic Crew) actually has the highest point total so far this season with 127.06.  But only 23.04 pts have come on the active roster during week 2 which was Romo's "worst" fantasy week of the season.

Week 5

Weekly High Score:  ChuckNorrisites - 116.04  :yay
Weekly Low Score:  Carcharadons - 67.21 :-D

Record High Score:  CrankyPants McGoo - 153.42 (Week 2)

Week 4 MVP:  Ben Watson, 23.80 pts - Philly Phanatic Crew
Highest Scoring Player to date:  Tom Brady, 145.92- Team Ramrod?

Oops:  Carcharadons left Cedrick Benson (12.90 pts) on the bench.  This is funny because he outscored both of his starting runningbacks combined.  Marion Barber (7.30 pts) and Thomas Jones (5.00).

Players on active rosters who did not play this weekend:

Dio's Ragged Company (1) Joseph Addai
Spooge Inc. (1) Santanio Holmes

Team Ramrod? had 3 players fail to score at least 2.00 points in week 5.  Calvin Johnson (0.30 pts), Jamal Lewis (1.10 pts), LenDale White (1.20 pts).

After starting 0-2, Dio's Ragged Company has won 3 in a row.  Congrats.  :yay

Team Ramrod? has scored the most points so far this season with 559.43 pts.
Despite being the lowest scoring team in the league with 455.20 pts,  Spooge Inc. has raced out to a 4-1 start and sits alone in 1st place.

Oops:  Cranky Pants McGoo left Drew Brees (21.84 pts) and Jerious Norwood (22.70 pts) on the bench in favor of Matt Schaub (6.96 pts) and Sammy Morris (1.40 pts).  That's 36.18 pts left on the bench while suffering a 22 pt loss.

Braylon Edwards must be the cure for syphillis because SunMo refuses to play him and left his 3 td (24.70 pts) peformance sitting on the bench.  Again.  Also, had he started Marc Bulger (DNP) instead of Kurt Warner (-1.16 pts) then he would have scored higher this week.  That would have given him just a little more breathing room in his narrow 0.99 pt win over Chuck Norrisites.  Fortunately for SunMo, Chuck Norrisites left Wes Welker and his 27.47 pts on the bench and chose to take Vincent Jackson's 0.50 pt instead.

Players on active rosters who did not play this weekend:

Spooge Inc. (1) Anquan Boldin

Spooge Inc. had a "perfect" week because he left 0 points sitting on the bench.  This is because half of his team was on their bye week.  Plus Stephen Jackson who DNP.

Team Ramrod? has scored the most points so far this season with 686.92 pts but has yet to get a weekly high score.
Despite being the lowest scoring team in the league with 548.84 pts,  Spooge Inc. sits atop the league at 5-1.  Talk about favorable scheduling.

Since I'm not leaving until tomorrow now, here's your week 7 update.

Week 7

Weekly High Score:  Team Ramrod? - 141.53  :yay
Weekly Low Score:  Sun Mo Syphilis - 63.37 :-D

Record High Score:  CrankyPants McGoo - 153.42 (Week 2)
Record Low Score:  Spooge Inc. - 43.11 (Week 4)

Week 7 MVP:  Tom Brady, 50.16 - Team Ramrod?
Highest Scoring Player to date:  Tom Brady, 240.10 - Team Ramrod?

Oops:  There were multiple people who left a significant amount of points on their bench this week, but none of them would have made a difference in the overall outcome.

SunMo gets a gold star for some how managing to start 2 different QB's in consecutive weeks who finish with negative scores [Kurt Warner, week 6 (-1.16 pts), Marc Bulger, week 7 (-1.00 pts)].  Miraculously enough, he managed to go 1-1.

Players on active rosters who did not play this weekend:

Philly Phanatic Crew (1) Ben Watson

Team Ramrod? has scored the most points so far this season with 828.45 pts.

Spooge Inc. (659.52) has been "over taken" by Sun Mo Syphilis (652.42) as the lowest scoring team in the league.  Congrats to both players.

Yeah, I know.  I would have done the update already but I didn't want to make fun of myself for starting Pittsburgh's defense (8 points) instead of SD (29 points) while suffering a 15 point loss.

after taking over a mediocre team, and then losing his best player (Ronnie Brown), GM of the year Sun_Mo has willied his team to a 6-4 record and 2nd place in the standings.  meanwhile, not GM of the year CrankyPantsMcGoo went from 3-1 to 3-7 after a 6 game losing streak.

fun fact...the 3 first place teams have total points under 1000, teams 4 through 7 all have total points over 1000.  see kids, scoring is overrated.

Tom Brady was out for you.

NE Defense and Gatkowski were out for me.

That's pretty much a wash right there.

Williams, Drew, Westbrook, each with at least 2 TD's.

Good week! :yay

I also didn't realize I left Stephen Jackson on the bench with his 2 TD's.

shtein, having him plus the D and K, its very possible I would have broken the 200 point mark.

:o

I must humble myself.

Because I'm in another keeper league through Yahoo!, I learned that they changed the functionality to allow the commish to assign the keepers to the appropriate teams. Because of this, the ability to pre-rank players, and my lack of anytime-I-want internet connectivity, I really think we should do a live draft through Yahoo! and take hours instead of days.

My roster:
QB
Matt Hasselbeck
Jon Kitna

RB
Marion Barber
Warrick Dunn
Kevin Jones
Thomas Jones
Adrian Peterson

WR
Donald Driver
Bobby Engrem
Torry Holt
Roddy White
Shaun McDonald

TE
Kellen Winslow

K
Mason Crosby

DEF
Minnesota

What - we keep 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE/K/DEF, 1 Rookie, correct?

Good call Dio. There is no need to declare keepers yet.

This has never been addressed in a keeper league that I've been a part of, but my feeling is that the full end of season roster is yours until the draft actually happens. So trades are possible if you want.

Mikey has backed out and MDS has indicated that if there's no money on this shtein that he's not really interested in taking Mikey's team.

So if people want to put money on it, say so.

If not, who wants Mikey's team? (Roster posted on page 12 of this thread.)

Title: Re: Keeper League '07-'08

Draft order:

1. Phreak
2. Philly Crew
3. T-Hawk
4. RJS
5. Dio
6. Sarge
7. SunMo
8. hbionic

One note. I think we've always done snaking draft orders, but in a dynasty league like this where we're keeping 8 players it makes more sense to have a set order for each round.

Gimme your thoughts on that and then I will unilaterally make a decision without taking any of your opinions into consideration.

Would the draft position be altered after each round?

I like the snaking system. EVen though the guy picking first or last usually gets the shaft in them.

The only other fair way would be to re-order it after each round, no?
Title: Re: Keeper League '07-'08
Post by: SunMo on August 15, 2008, 06:44:23 PM
no, rjs' point is, in a keeper league, where draft position is based on the standings the previous year, the draft should be like the nfl draft.  a set order that is followed each round.

Since I consider Phreak's (non-eagles) opinions to be the most reasonable of this group of jokers I am implementing a non-snaking draft order for this keeper/dynasty league. It's the only reasonable thing to do.

Yeah, no. That doesn't make a lick of sense. The NY Giants got the last pick in the draft this year, not the Patriots for going 16-0. Winning the championship = last pick in the draft. Losing in the championship game = second to last pick.

And can someone shoot jihadist_monk?

My rebuilding year is officially under way. I drafted 3 rookie running backs, don't have a kicker and only have one TE.  I think it's safe to say that I'm trying to improve next year's draft position.

Title: Re: Keeper League '07-'08

That one was my idea. I hate Roddy White and didn't want his flash-in-the-pan ass on my team. Mendenhall and Rice are more or less identical in my mind. I may end up regretting the trade, but I think Mendenall has a chance to steal the starting job from Parker this season or next.

REBUILDING YEAR!

No doubt you are getting the steal.  Coles with Favre is going to be really good.  Roddy White with a rookie QB, not so much.  I also think Mendenhall has great potential and have no idea why Dio is so intent on getting Ray Rice to back McGahee.
Title: Re: Keeper League '07-'08
Post by: Diomedes on August 28, 2008, 02:24:14 PM
Mendenhall and Rice are a wash.  Either could blow up or wash out, who knows.  Only one of 'em backs up my #3 RB, and if I had my head screwed on straight when we drafted, I would have taken Rice then.

The downgrade I took at WR is the price I pay to fix that mistake.

No one stole anything in this trade.

I'm doing a social experiment.

- I currently have 4 rookie running backs on my team and no kicker.
- I have offered Mendenhall and Burleson to Phreak for DeSean Jackson and Nick Folk.
- I think that he is getting the better of this trade offer by far, but I'm pretty sure he won't take it simply because he doesn't want to let go of DeSean.

I'm curious to see how this turns out.
Title: Re: Keeper League '07-'08

I'm rooting for Peterson to wake up with an explosive case of the shteins tomorrow forcing him to not play. I face him in my $$ league too, but I am up by 36 in that one.

Or maybe Driver can off-set some of the points he'll rack up.

Hey, remember how my team looked like it was going to suck this year?

I am accepting tade offers now. I have the most ridiculous stable of young/rookie running backs any of you have ever seen and there's no way I'll be able to keep all of them so I will be looking for either players or future draft picks in exchange for any of the below:

Steve Slaton
Tim Hightower
Jonathan Stewart
DeAngelo Williams
Matt Forte

As of right now Michael Turner is off limits, but I could probably be convinced to let him go for the right price. Randy Moss could probably also be pried from me...

Trotter at one of the seven wonders of the world vs. Prius.....tough call on pulling the man card.

He gets 50 miles a gallon and you get to look ridiculous forever.

You realize where you are, right?  Might as well get a bunch of bananas while they're on sale.

Thanks guys. This is the only season ever where my draft strategy of 'pick nothing but rookies' would actually work.

I'll update this thread with the draft order for next year and will definitely be entertaining trade offers since I have about 11 players worth keeping on my roster.

This is my team. I will entertain reasonable offers for ANY of these players. No one is completely off limits if the offer is right.

I have denoted rookies since they have extra value as roster-keeper exceptions.

I am firing this shtein up again...

Returning players get first dibs, obviously. PM me if you're a returning player and I'll send you the league invite.

If anyone drops I'll handle giving out the team on a first come first serve basis, or on some other arbitrary and self-serving basis.
