Buccaneers | Gradkowski makes strong impression on Gruden
Mon, 8 May 2006 04:53:08 -0700
Buccaneers.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Bruce Gradkowski made a strong impression on head coach Jon Gruden during the team's minicamp. Gruden said, "He's not used to being in the huddle calling plays. He's called the majority of his plays himself at the line of scrimmage with some help from the sidelines. So just the language, speaking the language, is a challenge for him at this point. But he's got a lot of talent, he's very mobile and we're really pleased with what we saw."
I rated the Birds draft a solid A. I would've likes to have seen a QB from them to groom as a solid backup, possible starter. Gradkowski would have been awesome here. :-\

QuoteNFL | League to change uniform number rules
Mon, 15 May 2006 07:35:29 -0700
ESPN reports the NFL has decided to change their policy regarding uniform numbers. No details of the agreement have been disclosed.
Bush wins again
they should change it. If you can wear it in college, it should carry over for the NFL.

I have always thought that, it certainly helps the NFL's marketability.
Donovan should change his number to 79.
it probably won't take effect until 2007
It's still unsettled, but Bush will be wearing #25 for this weekend's photo shoot for the rookie cards this fall....
Update: now #5 at the shoot might be allowed, so he's taking both numbers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2447010) ::)

QuoteBroncos | B. Marshall excelling at camp
Thu, 25 May 2006 06:02:05 -0700
Lee Rasizer, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports Denver Broncos rookie WR Brandon Marshall has been the talk of camp so far. He has been the first name on the lips of several Broncos' players when asked which teammate has stood out during the two-week passing camp, which concludes today. CB Champ Bailey began issuing the verbal bouquets to the rookie by saying he was an "incredible talent" who's "doing well enough to catch everybody's eye." Apprised of the comments, Marshall went home and called, among others, his academic adviser in college, fellow Central Florida WR Mike Walker, his father and his agent. "I've done all right, but I need to pick it up a little more," he said. "The speed of the game's a little faster, and I need to get my head around a little faster and make every play. But I can't complain. I just have to work to get better." Head coach Mike Shanahan said April 30 that Marshall possibly projected as a tight end or H-back, but the short-handed receiving corps required Marshall's participation, and he has made the most of it, apparently.
man this sucks, i wanted this guy bad. it sounds like he's off to a great start.
i would have much rather had him than avant...hell id have taken skyler green over avant
skyler green over avant
is that because he did so much for LSU or because Avant did squat against top teams? Green sucks
Marshall I do like though
because avant is the offspring of billy mcmullen and na brown
Marshall played for Central Florida with almost every game scored in the 40's ---that means dog$htein was covering him
Avant played top CB's in the country and still posted on avg 75+ yards a game. It was toss-up for the Birds, so they went with solid hands vs top competition.
I was on the Brandon Marshall bandwagon big time. He was one of the three WRs that I really wanted. The others were Greg Jennings and Jeff Webb.
I do like Avant, but I would've taken Marshall over him.

Avant is Freddie Mitchell without the attitude or first round bust status. Im completely fine with that.
Wrong.
Avant will run the routes he's supposed to run, whereas Freddie freelanced often.
He is much more focused on staying well-conditioned than Freddie is capable of.
He is much tougher after the catch.
He's not an assclown.
However, they do both lack ideal height (not size) and speed. So... sure.
They're both real tough.
They both are good slot receivers.
They both have sure hands.
They both catch a shteinload of first downs.
Also FF, I said 'without the attitude.' 3 of the 4 things you said had to do with attitude.
Attitude is an underlying reason for a lot of things.
And Freddie was never nearly as tough a player as he was a talker.
