this thread is limited to posters from the CFFFL NFC only who are talking about the league, any other outside nonsense will be deleted so keep the crap to another thread. thanks
This will be the NFC discussion area for whatever we need to talk about. Dio will start a discussion thread for the AFC. Appologies to anyone who wanted to join but didnt get in. Just not enough spaces to get anymore people in this year. There is always next year, and there are plenty more contests to join for the season, so stay tuned.

The first order of business is the draft order. Draft order will be determined this way. I have a list of countries listed below. Each country has a corresponding draft slot attached to it. I have sent the country/draft slot list to someone on the board who is not participating in fantasy football. Each of you needs to select a country. Whichever country you select will have a draft slot and that will be your draft position. Each country can only be selected once so first come first serve. I will take whichever country is not picked so I have no say in which draft slot I get. After everyone makes a pick, the poster whom I sent the list will post the results.
We also need to determine how our draft will work. Years past we have done it on the board. It takes quite awhile to do (over a week), but it is fun to some degree. This year I am seriously leaning towards a live draft on yahoo. I will set a date and you need to show up and draft, or rank your players and have yahoo select for you. I want to hear ideas about what kind of draft you want. If you guys want a board draft I need some serious help this year. I need people in the NFC who will help out and keep track of things.
ok, so pick your country and lets hear and opinions/concerns about whatever.
Iran
Iraq
Afghanistan
North Korean
Russia
Rwanda
Ethiopia
Congo
Mexico
Columbia
Yugoslavia
Pakistan
1. Iran
2. I like the draft on the board because it leads to good discussion. However, I understand it is a pain in the ass to commish and won't object to a yahoo live draft. Want to let you know that I have Guard duty on August 6-7, so those would not be good dates for me. I think we have a pretty good group in the NFC and don't think we would have a problem with a board draft. Let me know how I can help. I know some people want to wait for training camp, but is it any different for a NFL GM? If we start the draft early, maybe we could allow people whose players are injured in camp, to pick-up their backups before the start of the season if they have not already been selected. For example, you have Buckhalter but, as usual, he blows out a knee in camp. Someone will already have picked Westbrook but you have the opportunity to pick up Moats before the start of the season, if no one else has selected him. Just a thought so we can get this thing on the road.
1. Russia
2. I like doing the draft either way. I don't remember last year being much of a problem for us, but I do for the other conference. I prefer the board draft for the great, funny conversations it brings, so put me down for that.
3. Team name: Dark Angels
1. Mexico. Now let me dig my toes into the sand, grab some tunes and relax by the waves with an ice-cold Bohemia before I kick your asses.
2. I'd be down for a live draft-- but I think the people who couldn't make it would be at a pretty serious disadvantage because of the way the yahoo rankings work. Maybe we could float a few dates to see how many people could actually make it? I'm cool either way, though.
Team name: Tight Balls.
Can we also list our team names in our replies? Sometimes it's tough to put a team with the poster here....
With the fourth selection of the International Lottery, the Hurricane Dodgers select
North Korea
As for the draft, I'm OK either way.
Columbia
I don't know my team name. I think it is currently Blah.
I prefer drafting through the board than a live draft.
1. Rwanda, bitches.
2. Since I am clearly on the board a lot and enjoy the occasional shtein talking I would prefer to do it on here, but if there are sucker bitches who are going to slow shtein down, than I'll do the live draft.
3. Mud Butt... will almost certainly be changing.
1. YugoSlavia - Had to think hard about this one and ask myself "what would Schiavo do" since I'm Schiavo's Battle Cry. And since when the battle cry is heard, there is slavia that runs down the face and chin.
2. Either doing the draft on here or a live one works - just let me know the night if it's live. I'm guessing that we have to do it in the evening since that's when everyone is usually availible or can be availible. Let's get this puppy started.

bold feature.
Jesus, you screwed it up so badly that I can't even properly make fun of it... quite a feat.
1. pakistan
2. i am going to be on my honeymoon for a lot of august...so i vote for the yahoo thing. but if it's on here, i'll send some kind of random list to whomever to make my picks.
3. Ralph Wiggum's Boobs (aka, the CF Seahawks for the conference switch)
Iraq
I don't care how we draft, just let us all know the date if we go live draft, some might be on vacation.
Team: RedBeards
Since Troy is nowhere to be found JeffreyPA is taking the last spot in the NFC. Welcome Jeffrey.
ok, so phreak and Jeffrey need to pick a country then get on to the draft. Looks like the NFC voted for a board draft. Thats fine, but I need atleast 1 person to volunteer to be on here a lot and actually post the draft stuff, keep track of who was drafted etc along with me. This is why: If I posted all of it nobody can go in and edit the post to keep it updated. If someone else (mikey last year) posts it, he can I can go in and edit the thread to keep it updated. Makes it much smoother. Also, if you are not going to be around for a certain day, OR EVEN THINK YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE AROUND, you must IM me a list of whom you want.
The draft will start in the next couple days, so be on the lookout.
I'd go a step further and say that you or whatever powers that be should have a list from EVERYONE in case something unexpected comes up. If there's a car accident and you can't get on the board for six hours, get well soon...but let's keep the draft moving. It can't hurt to provide a few names every day for the duration of this thing.
I'll volunteer to help, MURP. I'm on this goddamned board more than anyone should be.
Thanks, Murp.
1. I'll take Congo.
2. I would've probably voted for the Yahoo draft because you can pre-rank your players if you can't make it, but either way is fine for me. How long did the draft take on the CF board last season? Just curious.
I'll come up with a team name shortly.
Good luck to all in the NFC.
can we set a date for the draft? at least give us a day so we know when to go in and make a list ahead of time.
Ethiopia
I vote for a Yahoo Live Draft -- but I am cool with doing it on the board. My only poroblem is that I sleep during the day and am not on from 10am-5/6pm when everyone else is. So I end up having to go by a list I turn in to MURP hours in advance. A live draft is better, IMO.
that means I get Afghanistan. draft order will be posted when the poster who has them is on the board next. we will go from there.
Iran-9

I could easily take that problem off your hands.
Does anyone object to starting the draft this Friday? I dont really count the weekends as heavy draft days since its summer and we all do things during the weekend, so dont think you would have to be on the computer all weekend or anything. Starting Friday would get a nice head start on this. I will post draft expectations tomorrow.
I'll be out of pocket most of Friday. But I guess I could do a list.
I'll be in west virginia all weekend. I vote no. I got alot to do between today going to philly and tomorrow leaving early.

Dudes, if we start it on Friday, we don't have to post over the weekend, that was Murp's point I think. We'll get as far as we can tomorrow (and we won't gripe or piss and moan when it slows down over the weekend) and we'll pick up on Monday. No big deal.

Well, if Mexico was there I probably would've picked it because of Salma Hayek being from there. :-X
Oh. Then you missed out. She was with me on the beach. And it was a topless beach.
Come to think of it, I can live with the last pick...considering.
If we could get a firm decision on when this thing kicks off, that would be dandy. I'm okay with it either way...but I need to get a list together today if it starts tomorrow.
I'll start the thread tomorrow morning first thing.

Yeah, I would've preferred a blue-chip RB, too...but, the top 4 were gone. Now, I have even more reason to hope TO comes back by mid-September at the latest, or rely on Donovan's # 1 target being (gulp) Stickboy.

Normally, I'd agree. But don't forget that he has typically been forced to put up huge numbers because of the hole his D put him in. If that D improves as expected, his numbers could shrink...and that's not even factoring Moss into the equation. ;)

I think injury is the real gamble there. He gets tough yards, catches a lot of passes and scores when he's healthy. Plus their coach has claimed that they will be running a lot more this year... can't hurt.

If I read the rules correctly, it looks like there are six back-up spots that you can fill however you see fit...so, you could almost corner the Kicker market, for example.
Just to clarify...does that "WR/RB" position mean we can start a third RB OR a fourth WR every week?
Thanks, MURP.
Jeff,
Yeah that is a "flex" position. You can start a WR or RB in that spot each week.

There's should be a 15-minute limit, and if no list...the drafter should get the Vikings "tough luck" treatment.
is there a time limit?
i probably wont use a list unless i am sure 1 of 3 or 4 are left in front of me. and at most, you'll have to wait 2 hours for a pick. (except overnight)
ok...i am going to step outside of my office to have a smoke.

There is no time limit yet, but its not hard to keep track of the people who slow things down....

Nah, there is a middle ground.
Do the defensive players need to be at any certain position (RE: 1 each at DL, LB, and DB), or could you start three DBs if you so chose?
Your choice.
I couldn't make myself get excited about Lamont Jordan. I'll probably rue the day I didn't draft him, but Jackson looks like money.

He was my sleeper pick in several leagues last year. I got him in like the 13th round and shtein.

And even with that homo at QB my boy AJ had 79 catches for 1142 yards and 6 TDs. :P
Yeah, but that's part of the problem with drafting where we do. I don't take a guy who looks interesting now, it's a loooooooooooooooooong time before I get another crack at drafting.
Yep. That's why I took Duce now. Because he was pretty much the only full timer back out there. The rest look like two/three headed monsters.
I don't think Bettis does this year what he did last year either. I think Duce gets the scores.

Duce was a good pick. I was debating between him and Dunn. I was thrilled to get Gonzo in the 4th. My WR's will suck ass.
I can understand the Duce thinking. I went with Brown because I have to believe that Williams with either be a shadow of his former self or highlighted as trade bait. :paranoid
damnit i wanted gonzo!!
That's okay, Bennett was just as good of a pick there. *snicker*
I might draft RBs in every single round and force you all to trade with me when your backs get hurt. I'M A GENIUS!

without knowing you, i would guess you are not the only girl in your family, meaning you have at least one sister? that makes the parents bareable and helpful, bonus points if you are not the first child to be married.
i'm the second, my sister was married a few years back, and my parents almost dont care about mine (which is fine) because they know there another down the road.
my future wife has no sisters, only a brother...so this is like a once in a lifetime event for these people.

My mom loves doing the do-it-yourself wedding stuff, so she did stuff like the out of town gift bags for the hotel rooms (40 of them...I helped, but she did most of it), she did the candy plates on each table for both the rehearsal dinner and reception, she did a TON of stuff. She also ran all over the planet with me to do stuff.

Except in recent years, Favre has proven to make mistakes when the pressure is solely on him. Maybe Madden's right, maybe he's trying to do it all by himself. (Ir)regardless, the more they have Favre in a must throw to win situation as a game progresses, the more likely he is to throw an INT than a TD. You know this is true, and regret your pick.
The more you guys talk the more I like my pick actually. Keep it coming.

Let the run on Kickers begin! ;D
This is ridiculous. There are quality position players still out there and people are already starting to pick kickers. This is bizarro fantasy football! Of course, a couple of years ago one of my roommates picked the Tampa Bay D in the second round and almost got laughed into a suicidal state... so I guess this isn't quite that bad.
Well my Buckhalter pick was a backup pick...since my 2 of my 3 RB starters (Holmes, Johnson, Bennett) have a bye on the same week.....so I needed to grab someone to fill in for them.
Fair enough. I'm just a little surprised by some of the picks so far which is what makes fantasy football drafts so much awesomer than the way I normally spend my days.
I'm back, folks. Thanks for picking, Murp.

im sure the shot of Jack and injection you gave him has nothing to do with that.
Dump on kickers all you want, but I've played with Yahoo scoring the past two years in other leagues, and their Kicker scoring is over-valued as compared to every other type of FFL I've played in. If you look at the scoring, a kicker can very easily out-score one of your skill position offensive players, and they're fairly consistent.
(e.g, a FG and an extra point counts as much as a TD pass).

Could count as much. Fifty+ yard field goals don't come every week.
Sorry about that. My wife works one week a year, and of course I have to be swamped at work, my babysitting options are out due to a death in the family and the kid has to have a 103 fever. Sweet.
Of course, those are all just excuses for making Ricky Williams a safety pick.

What do we have left, something like six slots? That's what I count as open on my roster...3 defense, and 3 more kickers.
I think T-Hawk only can post from work and it's about quittin' time for the 9-5er's. I'll check back in before the Phils game though...

I almost took him, but I think I read somewhere that he will be replaced by the kicker they drafted.
FWIW, this from CBSSportsline.com, from April 29, 2005 (after the draft):
QuoteAccording to reports, Mike Vanderjagt could be in his final season with the Indianapolis Colts. Reports indicate sixth-round selection Dave Rayner will take over as the team's No. 1 kicker in 2006.
Although, I'm not sure who would draft a kicker, carry them on their roster, and keep another guy who is as big a pain in the ass as Vanderjagt. CBSSportsline still rated him as the # 1 kicker for this season. If the Colts did cut him, he'd be on another roster within a few days.
Well, I'm going to try to cut my lawn since we haven't gotten an inch of rain yet today. I'll try to be back on around 9:00. Looks like this will be moving slowly--if at all--tonight.

Minus the borderline.
I am retarded; however, making a list now is much more arduous than earlier as research to see who is left is required.
(Ir)regardless, I'm making a list now that will contain no less than twenty (20) players.
List for Phreak? We're so close to finishing this thing.
Starting round 14 there is a 1/2 (30 minutes for the tards) time limit. If you havnt picked by then your pick is moved to the end of the 17th round. No questions asked. If I have a list from you, you are safe even if it is over a 1/2 hour (if im away from the computer). When I come back on and see it is past 30 minutes and I dont have a list from you I will acknowledge the next person is up to pick. This is taking way too long today. So send your lists in now.

He is. It was in his contract...you know the one he's fighting now ;).

If you want to forfeit your picks you can. Just be aware that Post Draft Players Follow Waiver Rules.
I think I changed defensive players almost weekly last year. I know McGee was one of th eguys who I picked up and liked because he returns kicks too.
But defense and kickers are interchangable parts. I think the defensive guys I picked last year lasted me 2 weeks before I was cuttin and signing new ones.
I usually hold on to them because the players I draft usually kick so much ass.

You can add/drop players before the start of the season, but when you pick up a player you will be moved to the bottom of the waiver wire. Waiver time is 2 days, so if you put in a claim for a player, everyone in front of you has a chance to take the player until those 2 days are up. After 2 days, if nobody else put in a claim for that player you get him.
So pretend (yes god forbid) that Westbrook and CBUCK get hurt. Well everyone would want to pick up Moats quick (if he is a FA after the draft). If everyone puts a claim in for Moats, whomever is first on the waiver wire gets him. If the first person on the waiver wire gets Moats, that person is then moved to last in the waiver wire order.

yeah. If you forfeit picks, the first guy you pick up after the draft to fill your empty slot would move you to the bottom of the waiver wire.
after the draft is over I will set up a thread to post your final rosters. keep a lookout for that.
murp, thats not what the league rules say
QuoteAll unowned players who have cleared waivers are free agents and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can pick up or drop players by simply clicking on the Pick Up Player or Drop Player links located near the top of your Team Page. All claimed players will immediately be added to your bench. It is up to you to move them to starting positions.
waivers are only for right after the draft, and then right after a player is cut.
under your scenerio, unless buckhalter and westbrook get hurt today, moats is available to anyone who wants them as long as it's 2 days after the rosters are set

not true.
the only way you move down to the bottom of waivers, is to actually obtain a player on waivers.
if i wat three days to pick up free agents that cleared waivers. it does not effect my waiver position.
Yes, you are right. You can pick up FA's after the draft without being affected on the wavier wire. As long as they have cleared the initial waiver wire of 2 days.

i wanted shaun alexander in round one...but that wasnt it...i do beleive i had my eye on steven jackson though and you took him before my next pick. at that point i wanted you dead.
Now that's the kind of ire that makes you feel good about your picks. Many thanks.
my mistake on mikeys pick. jeffrey is up.
my brain is melting with this gdamn draft and work combined.
Too bad it was working properly when you swindled Derrick Johnson from me!! :-D
ha! yes Phreak, thank god it was.
zanshin is up. last pick.

You should have taken McMullen with that spot. I knew it.
Wow, Mikey...just took another look at your roster. It's like you're trying to start a MASH unit. Lot of those guys are a little on the injury-prone side, no?
I have a few but 2 are on defense (Lavar, Urlacher) and I think Bennett/Priest will stay healthy this year...Buck was just a pick for depth and he could have a big game here or there on the TD side.
I'd just like to say that I am looking forward to my annual week one destruction of Darthcore.
;D
from the looks of things...i am gonna predict right now that the CF champion is gonna be from the NFC.
especially since i dont know if the other conference is even going to to survive a draft... :sly

It's not for the lack of trying though. You can't make people pay attention.
Their draft has been a cluster. I love the fact that Dio has relentlessly brutalized the shteinheads who wouldn't make their picks. He could have probably used some help, but since he didn't get any I'll just sit back and laugh.
I'm glad I'm not in that Nazi draft!
The NFC, specifically my team, is going to dominate the Championship.
not with pinkston on my roster :-o
You're both finishing in last place, bitches.

That doesn't even scratch the surface of my collection of talents.
There are an awful lot of Freddie Mitchells on here....

I'm helping him, but i can't make people be online when it's their turn.

You never know. It will be like a ten player draft. The best team will have more choices of players. When one team is made up of Willie Ponder's and Ron Dayne, it leaves another team much stronger.
yeah, well thats why you will be the AFL instead of the AFC. have fun at the arena bowl suckas
mikey, your team is cursed. Stokely and TO leaving with injuries yesterday and Buckhalter today. Get your team in shape, man.
Nah just leave it as is.

Hey, never saw that coming ;).
I just took another look at my team and got a huge boner thinking about how badly I'm going to whoop all of your asses.
You're all lucky I'm not in the league.
