Im looking for good ideas for playoff contests. Right now we have a Playoff suicide league which we will be doing again this year. If anyone has another idea please let em be heard!
A normal fantasy football league....would have to keep track of scores ourselves, but get 10-15 people and draft like you do in the regular season. Except, you have to draft according to how far you think the team will go.
How about a who scores first (kicker, WR, QB, RB, D) per team/game. I guess its kind of like a suicide...but you don't get eliminated...you get points per correct guess per game...and you do it per half? Someone please stop me...I'm just talking out of my ass.

That's kind of like what we do in another league I play in. We hold 1 draft, no free agent pickups or anything and you continue on as long as you've got players who are still alive. Once an NFL team is eliminated all the players you have on that team are done as well and there's no replacing them unless you've already got the depth on your roster to do so.
Obviously we could do Playoff Pick 'em as well or a suicide league. And I think that trapped somewhere in Bionic's incoherant rambling there may actually be a good idea.
Yea there would be normal FA pickups, waivers, etc....would be fun but need someone to set it all up and keep track
Set up a league on here, each person gets to pick any player they want to set up a team consisting of whatever we set such as, QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, DEF. The catch is, you can only pick ONE player from each team. So you can't have Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison.
Have those teams sent to someone by a deadline, so no one knows who everyone else is picking (yes this means we could have teams with some of the same players, and maybe even a couple teams with exactly the same players, but that can be dealt with**).
The team that scores the most total points by the end of the SB wins. Some people might think, "Well that sucks because then people will all pick players from the good teams." You can only pick one player from each team, also if you pick all players from the good teams then you are assed out in the first round, because this would be about total points and you would get NO points for picking players on teams with a bye in the first round. So it would be good to pick a mix of first round bye type teams and wild card weekend teams.
So let's say one person had Peyton Manning, well once the Colts lose, then they get no more points for Mr. Manning from there on out. You cannot replace that player with another QB. That team would still get the Manning points towards their total, but obviously since Manning wouldn't be playing anymore games, they would get no MORE points.
In a sense, it is a combo of fantasy football, and some sort of elimination FF game. Didn't we do something like this last season?
**If we had any teams with the exact same rosters from top to bottom, then those teams would then be required to pick one or two players of any position or any team that would not count for their team, but would be used as a tie breaker IF AND ONLY IF those two teams won the entire fantasy playoff competition. So although those extra players wouldn't help them vs. any other teams, they would know those extra player(s) would help in case they tied for the win with the other team that has the same players.
Something to that extent should any teams be exactly the same. If the teams are all the same with exception to one player, then all this is unnecessary.
I like that NB :yay
sounds like a good plan NB, you will be in charge of running it.
I'm in for this :-D. Taking a gamble in the wildcard round will spell the difference IMO....

I'm fine with that. I'll let everyone know the deadline, which will obviously be a few days after week 17.
Until then we can all figure out the exact rules, unless you want me to just finalize them myself.
yeah just figure out your rules and then post em and we can take a look and see if anything is out of whack or if its all good.
Ok....... Done! Whew that was hard work but I am finished. :D
NB, if you are going to run this lets get it started.
NonedumBa is all talk, no action. He ain't gonna organize and adminstrate this thing, everyone knows that. He did afterall volunteer to run the AFC side of the CFFFL league, only to bail once he realized that it had legs. Same story here, no doubt.
Come on, jackass: prove me wrong and pull this thing together!!
if you want to pull my AFC/NFC prediction threads over to the contest area...go ahead...as i will mail out prizes. even if it is not an official sanctioned CF contest

Actually I offered to run the AFC but MURP said I was already in the NFC league, so I stayed there. Nice try though. ;)
Also people tried to say I was trying to get out of the NFC because I was scared, so that whole ego thing got in the way too. :D
You know you are really good at using bold
Dio, you should be proud of yourself.
I'm ready and willing to run this thing, read the rules up top and send me your team everyone. I'll put a cap of 10 teams in this league so first come first get in. The basics are you can only pick one player from each team, once that player's team is eliminated from the playoffs you do NOT get to replace that player. In other words, if you have Ahman Green on your team, and the Packers lose to the Vikings, you get the points for that game, but cannot replace Green with another RB, and obviously he ain't gettin you no more points so choose wisely.
Send me a list of:
QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
Flex position/one player from any position of your choosing
K
Def.No tight ends, replaced by flex(ible) position. You can pick any player from any position (i.e. another QB, another RB) but the same rules apply here, you cannot pick a player at the flex position when you already have someone from the same team. One player PER team, period. You break that rule and don't change it before the first kickoff, you get NO points for EITHER player from that team. There are 12 teams in the playoffs and you need to fill 8 positions, you figure it out and make it happen.
Oh and remember Dio, stay away from the children you sick bastich :puke
what are the scoring rules? ex.. TD's worth 6 accross the board or worth 4 for QB's etc.??

Good call, R E.
Passing
1 point per 25 yards
4 points per passing TD
.5 per completion
-.5 per incompletion
Rushing/Receiving
1 point per 10 yards
6 points per TD
1 point per every 5 carries
1 point per every 2 receptions
(if a receiver has 3 receptions, you get one point. If a RB has 14 carries, you will get 2 extra points. I will always round DOWN)
Kicking
3 points across the board regardless of where the kick is from.
Defense
5 points for WIN (you have Phi defense & they win, you get 5 extra points to go along with other defensive points)
1 point per sack
2 points per INT
2 points per fumble RECOVERY
3 points per TD
(if fumble recovery or TD happen on special teams, you get credit even if it is a kick/punt return for TD. Obviously offensive fumble recoveries don't count, such as if you have Pittsburgh defense and you look at stats and it says 3 fumble recoveries, only to found out Rothlisberger fumbled twice and the offense recovered that, you get no credit for those)
Let me know what type of scoring I am missing here and i'll fix it. I'm sure I've forgotten something.
After I have all the teams in, I'll try and post them by 7pm EST on Friday. Please try to send me your team before that, also if you don't send me your team and the league fills up, then you are out so that's another incentive to send it in asap.
I will have my team posted with the others on Friday so you will all know who I have and that I ain't cheatin. :D
You've got mail, moron.
sent my team in.
Are we picking just players from Wildcard teams right now or is this a combined effort and we pick players on bye's too?
you can pick a player from any of the 12 playoff teams. only one player per team so you wont be picking any players from some of the teams. You can pick a player from any team. Obviously the bye week guys dont get points for this week, but they are on better teams and could play more total playoff games than the wildcard team guys. strategy!
Thank you for clearing that up for me, MURP. I apologize in advance for the beatdown I'm fixin' to lay on y'all. :P

Fixin'? You know Pete Rose or somethin'?
With the Flex position thing, its safe to say Manning will be on just about everyones team.

Better yet, this must mean everyone has Pinkston on their team. Talk about Reno, this guy is something else.
NB,
I'll have my team sent in to you by tonight.
Are NB or Wingspan's contests "official" CF contests?
(I need more titles :evil)
they are now.

shtein...that means i have to pay attention ;)
:-D
haha Manning for the flex position? Try Jake Delhomme. Oh wait....mwhahahahah >:D
The flex position is the "gamble" slot. I put Vick there.
Hey NB, and scoring updates? I figured my team had 129.5, but don't know what that is compared to everyone else.
(2 players out, and 3 that have yet to play)
