draft was submitted, league is open.
oh yeah, you all suck and consider any win you get against me as pity points. :evil
I put out a couple trade proposals, so those of you that were contacted let me know what you think and get back to me with a yes, no, or counter offer.
:-D guess your draft strategy didnt work out to well eh? ;D
No it worked out fine(minus David Boston), I have easily one of the top teams on paper, but I want to strengthen it.

:-D
This coming from the guy who has a rookie RB on what should be a bottom feeder team, and the other RB on a completely decimated team who is openly giving up in order to rebuild the team and their cap situation. ;)
yep, 2 young RB's who will be given tons of carries every game. Damn, why did I draft them? :D
:-D If you say so. I can't wait to see what they do when their teams are playing from behind, with questionable Olines, and struggle scoring TDs. ;)
Sorry to bust ur bubble kids, but my team is going to kill. SO... :flipoff

Tomlinson up here
The rest of those down here. We're talking oranges and apples here. Yeah these other guys (your RBs) will get 1,000 yards and 5 TDs so good for you. ;)
You basically have two RBs at your WR position, so obviously that helps the mediocrity and question marks you have at RB, but then again I have basically 2 RBs at my WR position (your WRs are just above mine I'll give you that on paper), but I also have some fantasy football MVP 2 years running named Priest Holmes who will continue to take all Green's TDs. ;) Not to mention a top tier TE who if healthy can put up WR like numbers vs. your rookie TE who just now got to camp, but too bad camp is over.
yeah yeah.
lets take a look at your RB's. yeah you have Holmes. Nice luck getting a top 3 pick there.
then you have Eddie George, who will get his carries but is a washed up has been and will be overtaken by Julius Jones. Then there is Warrick Dunn who will lose tons of carries to TJ Duckett. Then there is Duce, who is still gonna split time with the Bus. None of them will rack up much in fantasy ball. Then you have Owens, who will no doubt lose production in the Eagles offense no matter how you slice it. Hines Ward is a stud... but my WR's are still better. ;D Shockey is always injured and has 2 career TD's. Winslow will have two TD's by week 4. ;D Then we have my kicker and QB who are better.
:D
Well you have some valid points no doubt.
But my team is ready to battle either way with talent from top to bottom. A large portion of my season is banking on Marc Bulger of course, but with his full first full offseason and season of being the only guy, with what should be a bad defense and a very quality passing game it's not a bad 5th round pick for QB.
IMO Duce will be the main guy. He will get most of the carries, almost all of the receptions, will be main back + 3rd down back. Is it a risk? Yes it is but I'm willing to take that risk. Bettis is done, he has been done for years.
I have a kicker who is one of the top 10 kickers every year, playing in a dome with an offense that should improve mightily with the return of Vick, and I got him after the draft, besides who cares about kickers.
EG, Dunn, etc. are all just for depth, while your RBs are HUGE question marks from almost every angle.
You can laugh all you want, but if Bulger does what I think he will, then my team can compete with any other team IMO.
Bulger is going to be murder behind that OL.
Pace is holding out...again.
Turley has a back injury.
Lights out.

HAHA!
There shouldn't be any bad rosters on paper with only a 10 team league. Some have better depth than others though.
Bulger disabled by week 3
Just wait and see, besides I got Garthia at the end of the draft and he is a capable backup if Bulger goes down.
Mussa, I wouldn't laugh with that stable of third rate fantasy RBs. ;)

yeah im taking a bit of a gamble with my RB's, but it is a calculated gamble.
Barlow averaged 5.1 yards a carry last year. For guys with over 200 carries he ranked 5th in the NFL in that catagory... the guys in front of him? Holmes, Tomlinson, Ahman Green and Portis. :o He will get well over 300 carries this year. He is a bruiser back who will get almost all of their goaline carries. I see 1300+ yards and 12+ TD's for Barlow.
Kevin Jones can be a 3 down back in Detroit. They improved their line in the offseason. Defenses will also not be able to stack the line with Charles Rogers and Roy Williams out at WR. Jones will have every chance to be a stud RB in Detroit. He is a risk, but I think a relatively safe risk. IMO.
Chris Brown is a sleeper RB who will get the majority of the carries in Tenn. He could be a bigtime player or a bust. Either way, he is worth the risk where I drafted him.
Deshaun Foster and Musa Smith are purely injury picks based on running teams. If Jamal Lewis goes to jail or gets injured, or if Stephen Davis gets injured, they immediately become a huge part of the offense. Moreso than on a team that has a more balanced run/pass attack.
There are so many RBBC this year that its almost impossible to have 3 RB's who will get a majority of the carries. Im putting my risk in offenses that will utilize the RB as their main offensive weapon.
Barlow is running behind a somewhat revamped Oline, not to mention that there is a good chance that Ken Dorsey will be QBing for atleast part of the season, and when he isn't it will be Tim Rattay with a changed Oline and a bunch of kids at WR, no TE. Yeah he had some nice stats down the stretch last season, but just remember, revamped Oline, inexperienced QB, inexperience WRs, defenses will focus on running game, will lose a lot of games on a bad team, playing from behind so not as much running, etc.
Still with the WRs you have, I would say these are afterall some reasonable risks to take. If you didn't have both of those WRs then those RBs would be the death of you, but with those WRs you should be ok. If you hit gold with those RBs and they do have good seasons, then yeah you could ride them to the top. If they struggle due to being on bad teams, and being surrounded by SO much inexperience (not to mention their own inexperience) then you could suffer pretty badly.
Since you're both going to get your asses kicked by me....starting week one with MURP...none of this all matters. ;D

Jaguars | Taylor Could Miss Preseason - from www.KFFL.com
Tue, 24 Aug 2004 10:01:36 -0700
ESPNews reports Jacksonville Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (foot) has a sprained foot and will likely miss the rest of the 2004 preseason
Uh oh Phreak, could Taylor be going back to his old ways? Good thing you have depth.
Ouch MURP, your RB situation takes another hit. Although Barlow is healthy, Ken Dorsey just went down, as well as the backup center. You say "BFD?!" But there starting center is already out, so they are going to their 3rd center, along with the rest of the revamped Oline, along with Rattay trying to get back from having his groin muscle completely seperated from the bone, not having been most of the offseason, and having little experience.
Ouch ouch, not to mention Kevin Jones has been out most of TC battling injuries. ;)
Taylor didn't get the nickname "Fragile Fred" for nothin' :D
That slacker better pick it up.

I'm so lucky that my starting RB (and #1 pick in the draft) is now gone for 5-6 games too, eh?
lol...that has nothing to do with scoring so few points and still winning, does it? Don't take it as criticism, but, regardless of injuries, you've been lucky to pull out wins scoring that little, don't you think?
It isn't a criticism, at all. How else would you argue it?
Because all last season, all I heard was how lucky I was every week. Once in a while, give a girl some credit. I DO have a decent team. A hell of a lot better than last year.
Playing the right teams at the right times always helps....unless you just flat-out outscore the rest of the league every week....like I plan to. 8)

I'm trying to figure out why you'd want to get the people you got in the trade, not about losing Taylor. Taylor is good trade bait right now, but to use him and Santana Moss to get Plummer, Wheatler and J. Smith. :o
Desperater, the new word for the day. :D
Trade made sense for me, for sure. With Jamal on ice, I needed another option. Moss still has potential on the season, and I'd never start Plummer or Smith on my juggernaut of a team ;).
I see the value on your side Thistle. I'm just giving Mr. Ford a hard time after having what seemed like a very solid draft at the time.
It did seem like a strong draft. Not sure exactly how that fell apart so quickly. They are like the Fins!
Steve McNair has sucked, Clinton Portis has sucked, Fred Taylor has sucked, Corey Dillon has been average, Moss & McCareins have sucked, Toomer has 0 TD's,....
And there you have it. :(
My draft is still looking good. :P Bulger has exceeded my expectations for a 5th round QB (he is currently 4th in total points out of all players/all positions in our league) and that was one of many players people talked bad about in my draft. ;D
Holmes is up top as usual, Dunn a 7th round pick is scoring TDs like crazy and getting me points. My WRs are up top as expected.
Worst pick in the draft for me so far, Duce Staley. :-\ I didn't think they would take him out EVERY FREAKING TIME they get inside the 5 yard line. :boom I also didn't think they would completely ignore him in the passing game. :boom
He's getting lots of yards and is now a solid depth RB fantasy wise.
If it wasn't for those meddling tightballs, I'd be 5-0 >:( I lost to Zanshin by 3 points, I scored over 110 points and still lost to him. Right now thistle you are on top of the league, enjoy it while it lasts :D

I have a QB available. Vick's been very inconsistent. 8 points one week, 35 the next. He could be very valuable during the postseason as he gains more confidence with the offense.
I need immediate help if I have any shot at postseason play. an upgrade at WR or RB, or a dominant defensive player would be nice. Or a package deal could be worked out at the right price.
As for last week, the Dark Angles beat me out 78.5 to 77.5. :boom

Murp-tough loss buddy. me 110.5 u 110.0, closest scores ever. lmao :-D
damn Manning, damn him straight to hell.

I think I may have been wrong - it's a good thing I didn't send you a bunch of Pepto.

ahahha! love it!
Look at that 4 way tie for first! I never would of thought Willis McGahee and the Bus would do so well for me.
My entire team is up for trade, i need a stud RB. And I mean stud. I can part with multiple players for the stud. Talk to me.
and I got plenty of guys ... Moss, Holt, Chris Brown, Todd Heap, Morton, Barlow, Roy Williams (WR), Donte Stallworth, James Farrior....
Murp, I made you a solid offer...

Mikey, thank you for your generous trade offer of Brandon Stokley for Droughns. But somehow I managed to pass. :-D :-D
C'mon now...it wasn't just Stokley...
Just saw this post now. Maybe you did something wrong when you made the offer b/c all I saw was Stokley for Droughns. ???
Just curious--what's the concensus on the recent TightBalls/Darths trade? Think it works makes either of us weaker? Stronger? Is it a wash? Does anybody really know what time it is?
I'm bored today ;).
Nobody cares. Got it. 8)
my take:
I need to win now to have any shot at the playoffs. Moss being out and having RB problems crushes that. I got an RB who will get carries and have enough WR depth to be fine for now. When Moss comes back though you are loaded and have a better shot of winning it all with Moss in your lineup. I think it helps us both out... My team needs to win now and I have a better shot at that.. your team gets much stronger in the long run.
That's pretty much the way I saw it, too. I had some depth at RB, so I could afford to make the move. And I always dig the Moss/Culpepper combo..... Doesn't help me this week, but it should come playoff time. Other teams should be scared :evil
Heads up!
League Notes:
• The deadline to complete trades in this league is Friday, Nov 19.
Talk to me.
Methinks I beat MURP....again. :-D
NB has to be hoping Owens has a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGG night tomorrow. ;)
GO TROTTER!!!!
Why would you ever start a kicker on a bye? That probably lost you the game.
Can I change my team name to the Carolina Panthers? :-\
Heh heh. :evil

Because I left Thursday night to go to DC to see my cousin, Liz, get married - unfortunately, I obviously neglected to take a good look at my lineup before I left.
Priorities, man. Priorities.

I guess I should have held on to Bettis too.
That's twice I've gotten 110 or more points and lost to Zanshin. >:(
Ouch.
:D
Dang it Phreak, you got me. >:(
I beat dat ass. ;D
104-67.5
Now I'm no longer the bottom feeder... :evil
Atleast you hooked me up with some good QB and WR depth going down the stretch. ;D
I make a trade and Jamal Lewis gets hurt... the luck just aint there this year. :(
You should have traded for Peyton Manning, and you would have gotten all the luck in the world on your side. ;)
I was running wild for awhile, then Priest went down, Duce went down, Dunn went down long enough that Duckett now gets way too many carries whereas before he went down Dunn was getting almost everything, including goal line carries and TDs. I've never seen Dunn get goal line carries and TDs like he was in the first few games. :boom
How many teams make the playoffs for each conference/league? You'll probably tell me to go look it up anyways so nevermind. ;D Did we ever solidify all the playoff rules? We are doing it on the board, but I don't remember anyone ever coming up with the rules and it's coming up in 2-3 weeks here. Just curious.
Nevermind again, I'm retarded as you know I'm sure but I couldn't find the rules. How many teams make the playoffs for each league?
4-6-8-10 ???
uhhh... i have to look it up. I cant even remember the playoff rules we set.... give little help here NB... :paranoid

Looks like he'll only miss a week. Look at it this way, you got him for a player who missed significant time and another one who was recently benched ;).
I just posted a question up on the league about playoffs.
Personally I think however we do it, the "CF SuperBowl" should be week 16, since most teams that are playoff locks will be resting their studs in week 17.
Why not start the playoffs week 14, conf. championships week 15, CF SB week 16. Or the "CF SB" could be held on the same day as the conf. championships, meaing that the score of the winner of the AFC would be compared to that of the winner of the NFC, and whomever has the better score wins the SB...or something like that.
I remember saying that we were going to keep yahoo going just for scoring purposes, but that the "official" matchups would be posted on the board with final scores. On a side note, I have stat tracker for another one of my leagues which could be helpful from the NFC side....
Oh, just hand me the crown already. Screw the playoffs. ;)

hell, I was in your shoes last year....and lost in the SB.
Don't count your chickens.... ;)
The difference is that my team has been built on skill and saavy...while you were just lucky to be there.
One chicken, two chickens, three chickens.....
j/k ;)

Sounds good, how many teams from each league? 4 first week, 2 second week, then the one goes to week 16 SB against one from AFC? Did we agree from the get go on the number of teams (coming from a guy who is about to drop out of the top 4 going into week 13 which under this format would be my last chance to get into top 4 :paranoid)
I think it should start in week 14 too, how many teams from AFC and NFC I don't know. We'll have to go back in the threads and see what was agreed upon, if anything was set in stone at all.
Holy shtein.
I won by .5 points.
Mikey lost by .5 points.
I'd like to (for the first time) thank LUCK for getting me into the playoffs.
LMFAO
What crap. I checked last night at like 2am (since I have stat tracker) and I had WON. Now this morning it has me losing by .5 points and PG winning by .5 points.....wtf. So lucky PG....if I would have played ANYONE else I would have won....scoring the 2nd highest and losing sucks. Yeah well, you'll lose round one of the playoffs anyhow...

I went to bed last night at the half and was up BIG in my game. Alexander had like no real yardage and a fumble and Jackson had 100 yards and a TD. Stupid Seahawks should have just kept with the air game.....maybe they'd have won. lol
And mikey....no need to be an icehole about it. I wasn't planning to be if I had lost. ::) I expected to have lost with Fargas being my last second fill in for 3 injured RBs.
Whos hardcore to the extreme? I(RedBeards) beat whoever by .5 myself! I guess im the Eagles of the NFC! Do I get a bye week???
