Canada hasn't lifted a cup in a quarter century. Ratings won't be a problem north of the border, anyway.

wow i had to go check because i the habs winning doesn't seem that long ago. crazy.

1993, wasn't it?  I was young and skinny back then.

it would be too hard to investigate but i wonder how many four team cities have ever had a worse cumulative draft spot total than phillys 27 this year

someone do this for me

I don't know about the draft thing but Philly has officially had one playoff team within the last three calendar years. That has to be up there with the absolute worst stretches a 4-team city has had.

When the NY Times looked at the saddest sports cities a couple years ago, they found that over the previous 50 years, 19% of Philadelphia sports seasons ended with a top 4 finish but no championship, and that Philly teams made the final 4 more often than any city other than Boston.

So we've transitioned from the blue balls era of Philly sports into the smashed balls era. It's definitely within the realm of possibility for all four teams to miss the playoffs in 2018 also.
