Notice:  This thread is for discussion of CFFFL 2004 - AFC draft logistics--things like the date of the draft, how the draft will be conducted, etc.  Please don't use this thread to post anything off-topic. Thanks.

Communication with Commish should be made in one of these ways:

Draft Date:
What do you think about holding the draft around middle of August?  Too late?  I like this timing for three reasons:
1. I think the first week of August is too early because of injuries during TCs
2. No matter what date we choose, some won't be able to make it.  Even if mid-August is bad for you, at least you would have better than two weeks to provide a list.
3. I'm on vacation (at home) during the third week of August, so that's the best time for me to babysit the draft.  The whole league will benefit from having an idle loser like me moving the draft along, trust me.  [More on draft pacing below.]

Draft Order:
The draft is serpentine: first pick in first round has last pick in second round, etc.  No trading picks.

Here is the draft order*:
Round 1
1.)   Wingspan (Eyeball Kids)
2.)   chuck_chillout (Deepballas)
3.)   phillymic2000 (DMAC2T.O.)
4.)   CheesesteakDude (CSD)
5.)   hbionic (AntiMustacheBitchers)
6.)   Reidme (Muffed Punts)
7.)   Satoshi (Cannibals)
8.)   Sgt. PSN (Stiffler's Pale Ale)
9.)   Diomedes (Brooklyn Huns)
10.) Sapp Hater (Beatin Your Azz)
Round 2
1.)  Sapp Hater (Beatin Your Azz)
2.)   Diomedes (Brooklyn Huns)
3.)   Sgt. PSN (Stiffler's Pale Ale)
4.)   Satoshi (Cannibals)
5.)   Reidme (Muffed Punts)
6.)   hbionic (AntiMustacheBitchers)
7.)   CheesesteakDude (CSD)
8.)   phillymic2000 (DMAC2T.O.)
9.)   chuck_chillout (Deepballas)
10.) Wingspan (Eyeball Kids)
Round 3
1.)   Wingspan (Eyeball Kids)
2.)   chuck_chillout (Deepballas)
3.)   phillymic2000 (DMAC2T.O.)
4.)   CheesesteakDude (CSD)
5.)   hbionic (AntiMustacheBitchers)
6.)   Reidme (Muffed Punts)
7.)   Satoshi (Cannibals)
8.)   Sgt. PSN (Stiffler's Pale Ale)
9.)   Diomedes (Brooklyn Huns)
10.) Sapp Hater (Beatin Your Azz)
etc.

*The method by which I generated this draft order:
  • Taking the list of teams from the original thread, which was locked long ago, I assigned each team a number, moving first to last, one to ten. For those of you who are too farging lazy to look at the thread, here is the original order:
    QuoteDiomedes (Brooklyn Huns)
    Satoshi (Cannibals)
    chuck_chillout (Deepballas)
    Wingspan (Eyeball Kids)
    Sapp Hater (Beatin Your Azz)
    Sgt. PSN (Stiffler's Pale Ale)
    CheesesteakDude (CSD)
    hbionic (AntiMustacheBitchers)
    Reidme (Muffed Punts)
    phillymic2000 (DMAC2T.O.)
  • Using a random number generator program, downloaded from this site, I asked for ten numbers between 1 and 10,000.  To the first team, I attached the first random result.  To the second team, I attached the second random result...etc
The actual numbers "rolled" by each team were:
    1001 - Diomedes (Brooklyn Huns)
    1974 - Satoshi (Cannibals)
    9752 - chuck_chillout (Deepballas)
    9774 - Wingspan (Eyeball Kids)
945 - Sapp Hater (Beatin Your Azz)
    1475 - Sgt. PSN (Stiffler's Pale Ale)
    6812 - CheesesteakDude (CSD)
    6121 - hbionic (AntiMustacheBitchers)
    4255 - Reidme (Muffed Punts)
    7669 - phillymic2000 (DMAC2T.O.).
and here is a paste of the .txt output from the program:
QuoteList of Random Numbers (No Restrictions)
Number of random numbers = 10
    Smallest number = 1
    Largest number = 10000

                         List of Random Numbers

     1001  1974  9752  9774   945  1475  6812  6121  4255  7669
  • The team with the highest score was awarded the first overall pick, the team with the second highest score, the second pick, etc.

    Draft Rules:
Time limits: I support some kind of time limit.  I will make a decision soon, so that people have enough time to make good back-up lists.  For now though, I'm open to suggestions
Whatever the time limits will be (if we choose to use them), the "Open for Business" draft hours will start each day at 9 a.m. Eastern and stop each day at 11 p.m. Eastern, for however long it takes to complete the draft.  If you're on the clock when 11p.m. rolls around, then whatever time is left to you is the time you have after 9 the next morning to get your pick in.
Lists:  Please provide me a master list.  If I don't have a list, and time expires on your turn, I will choose for you.  You have been notified.
    a. Master
Please provide a Master list.  This list is the default to which I will revert if you fail to make a timely pick.  It should be organized by round by position.  Tell me what position you will take in each round, and provide a list of players for that position ranked from most to least desirable.  I'll give you the highest rated available player at the position specified for that round if you aren't available to make the pick.
You may send a master list organized in some other way if you need to, but don't give me a file that requires an Engineering degree to follow the logic, okay??
Please email your lists.  The :CF private message application isn't made for that kind of thing.
    b. short list/amendments to master
This will be the kind of list that you make and send me mid-draft because you'll be out of touch for awhile, etc.

I'm sure there's plenty I left out, but let's get this riot started anyway!

In the past, if you see that your pick is say 3 picks away, and the draft is stalled, you can IM 4 players to the commish, assuring that one will be there. That should at least satisfy everyone until you can get back.

Except Sapp and Wing, who will have back to backs quite often, so remember to pick two players when necessary ...

That is all ........

That really dont matter. If you are smart, you can still win. If you don't, you are a moron.

Anyways, great work, Dio. I appreciate that.

:-D  Either way, he's a moron.

Everything looks good to me Dio.  Mid-August draft sounds good too.....just incase a stud running back chooses to retire or something.   :paranoid

Actually my team plays in the NFC. I wouldn't want to dominate a league full of fargtards like Sarge.

Damnit. The NFC will go more competitive....
