My in-laws have been staying with us for the holidays. My father-in-law suffered a major stroke a few years ago, which has pretty much taken away his short-term memory. He can remember things that happened 40 years ago with full clarity, but still can't find his way to the bathroom without being told the directions after nearly six weeks.
I can't imagine trying to live with someone whose memory slowly slips away. Kudos for this man staying true to his wife - and being wise enough to realize that her care was now beyond his capacity and getting her what she needed.
Good story.

Right. Being Liberal, Occupy Democrats, Politicus... there are plenty of examples of "the liberal fox news". Vox is not one of them.
Occupy Democrats is such a horrendous pos group/organization. Nearly every meme or story I see from them on FB is full of inaccuracies or flat out lies.
Vox is to the left as something like National Review is to the right....though to be fair I only follow a couple of NR writers and I hate Crystol so maybe I'm being too kind to NR, but the guys I enjoy reading do a lot of the same stuff Vox does in terms of providing links to other stories/data/opposing view points.

It was interesting. The prompter says, all other questions press "0" for operator. So that's what I did. I expected to explain what I was trying to learn and be transferred, possibly more than once, and likely not get an answer to my questions. Actually, I expected a recorded message. What I got was an employee who really knew the product, could listen and talk and think and had manners, who answered my questions definitively, and then what's more, made me whole on the level at no cost. It was a goddamn miracle. I am ready to die now, it doesn't get better than this Adam Smith.

Just thought this was a crazy story-- but a nice one. A mutual fan of Jackson Browne's and (my son) Jake's reached out the other day and wanted to give Jake a nameless guitar. Jake doesn't know it yet, but Mike Campbell from the Heartbreakers and Fleetwood Mac just shipped Jake one of his guitars, so that's what I thought this big package was-- but it wasn't (That's still en route, and will be very special to Jake, no doubt). It turns out this was simply just a fan who felt that this guitar already belonged to Jake... we had no idea what it actually was. Jake initially declined, but the fan was insistent and Jake promised to give the guitar a good and productive home and pay it forward in a charity gig, assuming it would probably be some lower-end guitar. The guitar arrived overnight, and it turned out to be the Jackson Browne Signature Gibson Model A-- an $8,000 custom built guitar at the Gibson Master shop. If Jake could have picked any Gibson, it would have been that one, incredibly. The only thing the guy wanted in return was for Jake to cover These Days. The pickup for the guitar needs some special cables which are shipping separately-- so Jake took it out of the box, tuned it up, and mic'd the straight room for the first time to fulfill the fan's request. That's some SERIOUS generosity right there.....

That's fantastic Dio, congrats to the wife! A DNP, and from Hopkins no less, she should be able to write her own ticket. If she likes admin rather than the clinical side, I'd think she could put herself on a c-suite track if she wants.

She's not interested in administration or the business end of Nursing in the least. She will either practice or teach. We're not sure which yet. She's obligated to teach Nurshing students through a State of Maryland tuition program, and already has her first section (also at Hopkins). If she chooses to practice, she'll have to teach part time for several years to satisfy her debt to MD. If she decides to teach full time, the obligation will be fulfilled in two years. But befre all that, she's got to study for and pass boards. Then job hunt. As a bilingual (Spanish) Nurse with her qualifications, I don't think she'll have any problem finding a good situation.
I figure soon after that she'll upgrade her Husband situation as well.[/SD]
Second husbands are out of fashion, cuckolding is all the rage now in your new tax bracket.
My son graduated this weekend. When my wife and I were thinking about having kids (and we waited a bit), I was afraid of the world we would be bringing them up in. In many ways, my worst fears have been realized.
However, I am damn proud of my son. He is going to be ten times the man I am. He's got a huge heart, and brains to match. The only disappointment is that he wants to be... a teacher like his parents. He's going to have to take the vow of poverty! He'll be a great one, though.
Proving his brains: He says that as soon as he graduates, he's out of this state. His mother and I will probably not be too far behind. He's also our best hope for grandkids eventually.
Congrats Geo 🍾 👨🎓
I'm happy for you and your family, sir.

Hey Geo congrats to you and the family! I'm sure he will continue to make you and your wife proud.
Awesome
