I figure we have enough people here to get a good idea or feedback of potential places one would like to visit.

Ok...anyone ever been to Costa Rica? I'm thinking about taking  like a 3 night trip within the next couple of months...just curious if anyone has ever been there before. They recommended it to me...but what else is there to do there besides eating, farging, drinking and going to the beach?

They say that place where lots of baseball players defect from is a good place to visit.  :paranoid Anyone ever been there?

I heard Prague is another slammin place to go.

Any other suggestions? In or out of the country.

Don't go to another country.  F them.  Go to Flagstaff Arizona.  Right in your backyard and cool as hell.

I've been to Amsterdam, London, Montreal, Sydney, Melbourne, Alice Springs, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Athens, many of the Greek Islands and the majority of Turkey. Australia is awesome of course because the people rule, the exhange rate is great and beer is the standard. Jamaica is beautiful and you get good drugs there, but the whole country is dirt poor so don't stray too far from your resort. London is expensive and full of brits, but the clubs are awesome, there is history if you're into that and they are US friendly, which isn't that easy to find these days. The Bahamas are strictly a spring break kind of place. Lots of rum and everyone is poor. Tourist trap. The Greek Islands are freaking awesome and are basically just party places with different age groups for each island. Athens is filthy but as far as cool historic spots are concerned it doesn't get a lot better. Turkey rules because the people are awesome and its f'ing gorgeous, but don't get too crazy or get in any trouble, they don't have a sense of humor about tourists breaking the law. Having said that, turkey was probably my favorite place in terms of backpacking b/c its full of Australians and Kiwis who are on vacation from their work-visa jobs in the UK and they make good travel/drinking partners. Also the bus system in Turkey can get you anywhere for really cheap but you are literally taking your life into your hands every time you let a Turk drive you anywhere. They believe that if you're meant to die, then you die, so they drive like absolute lunatics. Passing on blind turns... on mountain roads without rails or shoulders. Some of the most terrifying experiences of my life.

Montreal has strippers, casinos, good food, beautiful women and is full of french-speaking frogs. Also its freezing there. The drawbacks are significant but it is really an outstanding city.

I guess I could talk about Amsterdam, but really, just imagine a place that cannot possibly exist in the real world, where anything goes and there don't seem to be any rules and that's Amsterdam. I recommend it highly unless you can't handle your shtein. You know who you are. Don't go there. It will chew you up and spit you out. Or you could go there and not do drugs, but that's weak.

That's my world travel brain-dump.

Rome

Jamaica's a farging shteinhole, rjs.

Bermuda's where its at.  It's safe, clean, cultured, it's got great restaurants, golf courses, shopping for the ladies and the beaches are incredible.   It's expensive during the high season, but in the fall, it's fairly affordable and the weather is usually fantastic (provided there's no hurricanes).

Hawaii's nice if you don't mind the locals hurling epithets at you for the entire time you're there (not that I blame them, mind you).

Sort of depends on whether you want a nice, relaxing standard-issue trip, or something a little off the beaten path.  Which is it?

I have a pen pal who lives in Belgrade. One of the first things that I did when I got access to the net was look for pen pals and guess what, she stuck...and she's shared some cool ass shtein with me.

I really would like the off the beaten path kind of thing.

I had a friend who made a trip and went to Peru or Venezuela and went snake hunting.

I had another friend who just went to Guatemala and was swinging through the vines in the tree tops in the jungle. That kind of shtein is what interests me...not the regular kind of thing any other tourist might find.

For some reason, I don't care for anything in the Carribean other than Cuba or the Yucatan Peninsula.

Good feeback rjs.  :yay I always though Turkey would be cool.

Some chick in Belgrade really thinks I'm cool. After giving my girl a dvd for a gift she dumped my ass. Has anyone ever been to Belgrade?

Sounds like a perfect weekend get-a-way for you bionic.

My world wide travels is somewhat limited compared to others but I've been to:

London, England
Stuttgart and Berlin, Germany
The Bahamas
Salzburg, Austria
Mexico
Novia Scotia and British Columbia, Canada

My personal favorite out of all of them was Salzburg.  The people were incredibly friendly, the party scene was awesome and the sites were fantastic.  I went and checked out a couple of castles and felt like a midevil warrior walking through some of those places.  The architecture is gorgeous, the beer is strong and the women are easy.

I think that might have been rjs's longest post ever. It made my eyes hurt.

I've never left the country. But I have lived in Alabama, Kansas and Texas to go along with Pennsylvania. I'm a regular Rand McNally.

Minnesota had a nice airport...  :-\

I just got back from my honeymoon a few weeks ago and we went to Antigua.  Beautiful country/beaches but just like most caribbean island "DIRT POOR".  I went to Jamica a few years ago and i would suggest going to "Hedonism" if your going by yourself or if your girl is a freak.  Otherwise if your a drinker just make sure you check out an all inclusive resort!

I lived on the island of Guam for about 4 years. Like Hawaii they call you howlie and stuff, but it was a pretty cool place to call home.
I've also traveled to Japan, South Korea, Okinawa (part of Japan but different), Malaysia, Thailand, Diego Garcia (Atol in the Indian ocean), Oman (I think as it wasn't all that memorable) Bahrain (Home of the Gulph Air stewardess training center.), and Saudi Arabia. I'm not counting stop overs where I didn't see much more then the airport. That was military. As a consultant I've traveled too Whales, the UK (Londond and Newcastle upon Tine), Germany, and France. I was really surprised by how much I liked Germany. I would go back there again as they really like their beer.
