Anyone had a good meal at a restaurant lately?

i'll be the first to say, this thread got unnecessarily contentious

Food is a touchy subject, it's right up there with Religion and Politics.

I'm not opposed to chains, but I'm not big on the ones on that list.  Of the ones on that list that I've eaten at, I'd only go back to Longhorn.  It isn't as good as Outback, but it's okay in a pinch.

I just reviewed the one's that came to mind.

yumm, only 1 hr away from restaurant chain, processed food heaven!  I'll take a pic of my shtein tomorrow for all of you.  So you can see what I ate. How's that, Snobs.

Not really, just didn't feel like defending why I like eating at certain places, but since you called me on it, here goes:

Fridays - Not really a big fan but their Flat Iron Steak is delicious. The portion is small, though
Bennigans - My friend works there so I get discounted grub (and she's the head bartender so free beer), food isn't anything special but their Potato soup is really good.
Applebees - only ate there once and had some burger-quessidilla with cheese thing that was surprisingly good
Ruby Tuesdays - Spinach Dip was good but the rest of the meal was forgettable
Longhorns - had the filet with a side of Lobster - hard to mess that up. Had some fried lobster with cheese thing as an appetizer that was delicous.
On the Border - Loved it when I was in SD, ate at the one near the Neshanimy mall and it was only so so.
Cracker Barrel - Best breakfast on the planet
Red Robin - Great Burgers. The unlimited Fries are a nice surprise
Champs - overpriced and my steak was dry
99 - surprisingly large menu. Food was good but nothing to write home about
Bone Fish - Bang Bang shrimp was out of this world. Had the filet which is hard to mess up
Olive Garden - don't think they're as bad as the general opinion on this board. They have some decent pasta dishes.

And like I said earlier, my favorite chain restaurant and about the only one I'll go out of my way to eat as is Outback.

I only "called" you on it because you admitted to caving to pressure to hate the evil chain.

Here are my thoughts on the ones you mentioned...

Fridays - Good, strong drinks.  Food has seemed to decline over the years.  I briefly enjoyed the "Jack Daniels" shtein, but it got old really fast.
Bennigans - Not a fan at all.  One opened in my town and went out of business in less than a year.  A much better local Mexican place is there now.
Applebees - Not awful, but not good.  They do "calorie counting" and stuff, so it's one of the more diet-friendly places.
Ruby Tuesdays - Wife and I went to one about 2 years ago, got seated, and didn't have a waitperson say as much as "hi" to us for 15 minutes.  There was no wait - it wasn't crowded.  Anyway, we don't see the point in going back.
Longhorns - Haven't been.
On the Border - I think you have to know what to order.  I'm a fan of the "build your own" burrito.  There is a LOT on the menu that absolutely sucks.
Cracker Barrel - I agree - only because it's very consistent.  No matter which Cracker Barrel I go to (except Daytona Beach, FL apparently), I know I can get a greasy, tasty breakfast, night or day.
Red Robin - Yes, burgers are good.  Bottomless fries are good.  Drinks are good.  I've never been to one with even decent service, though, and I've had a couple of memorably bad experiences.
Champs - yeah, that place sucks
99 - Haven't been.
Bone Fish - My opinion is well-documented.
Olive Garden - I only ever go there for soup, salad, breadsticks, and/or pasta.  It's fine as long as I stick to that stuff.  The entrees suck pretty hard.

Applebee's is hands down the worst shtein I've ever eaten. I have no idea how they manage to farg up fried food, quesadillas and burgers but they found a way.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

I refuse to go to TGI Friday's because of the stupid commercial they have run two Christmas seasons in a row where the two dudes buy giftcards for each other.

That commercial is beyond gay. I like Outback but their "Lets do Outback tonight" jingle is beyond gay.

It was more laziness and not feeling like explaining myself more than pressure from the non-conformists.

Good call on Fridays, their JD shrimp/chicken/steak/ribs were good but have gotten old. The Ultimate Mudslide is the best Mudslide on the planet. As far as 'On the Border' goes they used to have great ceviche but have since taken it off the menu.
Two restaurants I hit up when I'm in the area are 'Tomatoes' in Doylestown. The Chicken Roxanna was actually named after my buddy Dave's Mom who used to work there. Her sister still works there. Anyways, it's a little pricey but I've never had a bad meal there.
Cashmere's on Humeville road in Bensalem is decent as well. They make a delicious shrimp and Chicken with asparagus smeared in Amarretto sauce that is worth mentioning. Their clams casino is good as well.

Texas Roadhouse (Outback Lite) is decent

Is that the place off 422 at the Royersford Exit? I can never remember the name.

That's like a mile from my pop's house.  And that's not relevant to this conversation.

I live in King of Prussia, so I'll be sure to kick your pop in the nuts 30 some years too late the next time I am there. No need to thank me.

Oh, I'm sorry.  You hate chains, but you frequent them.  Makes sense.
